It may be difficult for the ice machines at the facilities to keep up with demand considering the warm temperatures and humidity that are forecast for the weekend. Please try to fill your water containers at home or at the hotel whenever possible. Thanks for your cooperation!!!

The Arkansas Junior Competitive Tennis Council is excited to announce that they will be hosting a camp on June 4 & 5 for all players that qualify for the Southern Closed (12s-18s). The camp will be held at Rebsamen Tennis Center and will be conducted by Arkansas tennis pros. The goal will be to prepare all of the players for their upcoming Southern Closed tournament. The sessions will include drills, match play and team competitions. The schedule will be as follows:

Girls and Boys 16s & 18s - June 4th from 1 - 5 pm
Girls and Boys 12s & 14s - June 5th from 1 - 5 pm

Craig Ward, head tennis coach at OBU, will be at the Saturday camp and will be available to talk with parents and players about college tennis.

Once you have qualified for the Southern Closed (12s-18s), please let us know if you will be attending so we can plan accordingly. Responses and questions regarding the camp can be directed to Cindy Curtis, cindy@arktennis.com or 501-227-7611.

Feed-in consolation through the quarterfinals; Main draw and consolation singles matches will be the best of two short sets to four (by two) with a seven point tiebreak at 4-4. If necessary, a 7 point tiebreak will be played in lieu of a third set, first to seven by two. Before the tiebreak for the 3rd set, there will be a two minute set break with no coaching. Ad scoring. This is the format that will be used at the Southern Closed.
Doubles will be a 6 game set with a tiebreak at 6-6 (first to seven by two). No-Ad scoring. This is the doubles format that will be used at the Southern Closed 10s.
Alternate scoring formats may be used in case of inclement weather. Please check this tournament homepage for inclement weather updates.
Play will be on 60 foot courts, using orange balls and racquets 25 inches or less. All 10 and Under players should have their racquets with them when they check in for each of their matches.

All consolation singles matches will play a 10 point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
Doubles will be an 8 game pro set with a 7 point tiebreak at 8 all.

All AR Qualifier participants should register for the Southern Closed in their age division. The names of players not in quota are sent to Southern as alternates. If a spot is open, it can only be filled by a registered player!!! Your credit card will not be charged unless you gain entry into the tournament!

The 2016 AR Junior State Qualifying will begin on Saturday, May 28th and end on Tuesday, May 31st. Some draws may be able to finish up on Monday, May 30th. The decision not to begin play on Friday was made in order to make it a bit easier for the all players/families that have conflicts with graduations, final exams, etc.
Play will begin with doubles on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Another round of doubles will be played after the singles matches on Saturday. Once the size of the draws has been determined, more details about the schedule will be posted.

The main site will be Burns Park Tennis Center (BPTC), 4000 Joe Poch Lane, NLR 72118. Matches will also be played at Rebsamen Tennis Center (REB), 1501 Leisure Place, LR 72204

If withdrawing before or on May 22, players should withdraw online. If withdrawing after the singles and doubles entry deadline, May 22, all withdrawals should be emailed to the tournament director, cindy@arktennis.com. Withdrawals received after May 22, 11:59 pm are not eligible for a refund.
