Just for fun -- Dunlop is offering a racquet bag to the winner of this very quick event which will take place on Saturday (during "Dessert and Doubles") at RLP. Show up at 6 PM to sign in play begins promptly at 6:30. Cupcakes will be given out to everyone who comes to watch the mixed doubles finals or play in the ONE-Point tournament.

The mixed doubles finals will take place Saturday evening: 6:30-7:30 PM. We will provide dessert - CUPCAKES! - to all those tournament participants and their guests who come out to cheer on this fun event final! All divisions will play at RLP.

Please join us as we discuss the academic preparation of college-bound players. Home school v. traditional school, independent study options, and taking off a year between high school and starting college will be discussed by a panel. ALL Boys and Girls 18s matches will be played at RLP. After the first two days, all matches will move to RLP and one other site, so it is recommended players plan to stay in one of the tournament hotels for best rate and central location to all sites.

The first two days ONLY (Sat/Sun) will have the following divisions at these designated sites. Site abbreviations are below see note above for the site name and ground address. RLP: Boys and Girls 18s PDR: Boys 16s (and a few Boys 12s) SMR: Boys 14s ICC: Girls 14s PVCC: Girls 16s MHCC: Girls 12s WCC: Boys 12s (just a few boys 12s are at PDR) On Monday we have all Main Draw matches at RLP, and most morning consolation matches at PDR. Tuesday all semis and finals of consolations are at RLP.

Check-in will be at the Rancho Las Palmas Tennis Center, 42-000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA, 92270. ( from 3-7 PM on Friday, May 28th. This is OPTIONAL -- no need to come if you know your way to your site. We can not guarantee shirt sizes or sweatshirt availability as they are disbursed and sold on a first-come, first-served basis. On Sunday we will sell all leftover shirts so please pick them up by Saturday at 5 PM. All players should have their Medical Release Waivers signed by their parents and bring with them to Check-in on Friday, or to their site on Saturday.

The hotels are filling early due to the holiday weekend. There are several hotels across Bob Hope Drive from RLP -- If you still need rooms, please try the following: The Country Inn and Suites has at a rack rate $119 discount rate is $95.20 if you mention the tournament -- for two queens/one king includes breakfast. Hilton Garden Inn at 760-776-9700 also has availability (use whatever AAA, Hilton, or discount card to get your best rate) rack rate is $139.

Located at one of our sites, the Shadow Mountain Resort has studios, one, and two bedroom condos for rent. The studio is $99/night and the two-bedroom is $269. Contact them at 800-472-3713. Reservations cancelled within 30 days of the event will result in loss of deposit, so please note this when making your reservations there. As of 5/19 only the 2 bedroom condos are still available.

Draw sizes are 64/division. MFIC means the first two rounds feed into the consolation. We will play up to two rounds/day in the Main Draw, and two rounds/day in the Consolation beginning the second day (Sun). All matches will use match tiebreak in lieu of 3rd set. Main Draw will finish on Monday, Consolation will finish on Tuesday (semis and finals). There will be an optional non-sanctioned mixed doubles event that will begin on Friday and finish by Sunday (see additional note). For the purposes of planning your trip: NO ONE is out of the tournament prior to Sunday, May 30th. We recommend you make your hotel reservations early as they will fill quickly once player selections are made.

Palm Desert can be quite hot in late May. We anticipate temperatures in the 90s. All of our sites should have ice machines and water available NEAR the courts, but not ON every court. It is important that all participants bring their own thermos or water container with ice and sport drinks to their site each day. Most sites will offer sport drinks for sale, but this is not always possible. Be prepared to be well hydrated before and during the tournament for a safe and successful event! Thanks.

A player accepted into the main draw of this tournament will receive a refund of their entry fee ($85) if: The player withdraws in writing and according to USTA withdrawal regulations (click on link). Withdrawals should immediately be emailed or FAXed to the Referee, and then a self-addressed stamped envelope should be included with the written verification so we know WHO to make out the check to (we cannot put the credit back on your card the USTA keeps a portion of your fee we do not). Mail all requests for refunds, with documentation, to: AJB Enterprises, 1191 Camino Magenta, Thousand Oaks, CA, 91360. This documentation must arrive before the last day of the tournament (May 30). IMPORTANT: There are no refunds for reasons other than injury, illness, or emergency this refers to something like a death in the family - documentation required. Refunds will not be sent until after the tournament ends and we have verified that the player has not entered another tournament on these dates. more info

For those of you who would like a lower priced hotel, we have contracted for rooms at the Fairfield Inn in Palm Desert (72-322 Hwy 111, 92260). It is approx. 2 miles from Rancho Las Palmas and an easy drive to all sites. Rooms are $99/night and on a holiday weekend, that is our best deal in the area.
