PLAYER SELECTION:
SINGLES: The top 32 players in the standings (in each division) of those who register for this tournament will be selected for singles draws. Tournaments through June 14th will be included in the standings computation used. Tournament is open to New England residents only.
DOUBLES: A maximum of 16 teams in each division will be selected and draws filled as follows: Both players in singles and registered as a team will be selected first. One player in singles and registered as a team will be selected next. Players in singles and registered for doubles without a partner selected next. Players not in singles and registered for doubles selected next. If you want to play doubles you must register for doubles by the entry deadline date even if you do not have a partner. You may contact the tournament director up to June 16th to name your partner. After this date players who registered without naming a partner will be paired up with a partner by the tournament committee.

MATCH SCHEDULE:
DOUBLES: ALL age divisions will play up to three (3) rounds of doubles (up to the finals) on Thursday June 25th. Matches will start at 10:30am. Doubles finals will be after singles on Friday June 26th. (All doubles matches are eight (8) game pro-sets.
SINGLES: All age divisions will play first round singles on Friday June 26th and singles finals on Tuesday June 30th.

PLAYER CHECK-IN:
Thursday June 25th, 9:00 - 10:00 am at Tournament Desk at Yale Tennis Center. If you are not playing doubles, you may check in on Friday, 45 minutes before your scheduled match.

DRAW SIZE & MATCH PLAY FORMAT:
The draw size consists of 32 players for singles and 16 teams for doubles in each gender division. There will be a full feed in consolation draw for singles. Singles matches will be best two out of three sets. The set tiebreak (first to 7 points by 2 points) will be used in all sets reaching six games all. Doubles will be 8-game pro sets with a set tiebreak at eight games all. In extreme heat/humidity/rain conditions singles matches may be required to use a match tiebreak (first to 10 points by 2 points) in lieu of a third set. Seeding is based on, but not limited to, the most current standing list available.

PLAYER'S GIFTS & TROPHIES:
All players selected to participate will receive an official 2009 New England Jr. Section Championships T-shirt and a 2009 Sectionals commemorative bag tag. Trophies will be etched glass "Icebergs" and will be awarded to Singles & Doubles Winners and Finalists, Singles Consolation Winners & Singles Third & Fourth place.

PRACTICE COURTS:
The Yale Tennis Center courts will be available on June 24th ($3 per player). There are public courts at Edgewood park available throughout the tournament at no charge. From the Yale Tennis Center take left on Yale Avenue, go about 1 mile, take right on West Rock Rd, about 1/8 mile turn right into courts parking lot after the woods end.

RACQUET STRINGING SERVICE:
The Racquet Koop will provide professional racket stringing services. $22 per racket, $16 with your own string. On site Thursday through Sunday and at their store 5 minutes away on Monday and Tuesday.

DIRECTIONS TO YALE TENNIS CENTER:
From I-95 N or S: Exit at downtown New Haven, exit 47. Drive to the end of the connector onto Route 34. Continue for 2 miles. Take a right on Ella Grasso Blvd. Take next left onto Derby Ave, Route 34. Courts are 1/8 mile on the right. 251 Derby Avenue, West Haven, CT
From I-91S: Exit at downtown New Haven, exit 1. Follow directions above.

PARKING:
Free street parking is available on Yale Avenue and Central Avenue and in Cullman Loop by the indoor courts. Both offer excellent access to the courts. Please secure GPS navigation systems from view.

RULES:
The tournament is governed by USTA Sanctioned Tournament Rules and USTA New England Regulations. USTA officials will be on site. The Point Penalty System will be in effect. Unsportsmanlike conduct of players, parents or coaches, on, or off, the court, will not be tolerated and may lead to default of the player(s) involved.

REMEMBER TO BE PREPARED FOR HEAT:
Bring a cooler with ice and hand towels. Stay hydrated. Find shade.

RAIN & HEAT PLAN
In the event the referee suspends play due to rain all players should report to the Yale indoor courts adjacent to the outdoor courts. Players will then be assigned to area indoor club courts if necessary. There will be no court fee charges to players for any matches played indoors. If you are not on site, report to the indoor courts at Yale at your scheduled match time.
In the event that the Heat Index (temperature and humidity combined) reaches 100 degrees the referee MAY instruct that a 10 point match tie break be used in lieu of the third set. If the Heat Index reaches 103 degrees, the referee may suspend play anytime between noon and 5PM. If play is suspended the refereee MAY allow matches in progress and in the second set, to complete the match. (Based on National Weather Service information.)
