Competitor & Alternate Selection Update - 01/19/06 - PLEASE READ!!
We would like to take the "mystery" out of how competitors will be selected for the tournament and how alternates will be ordered. Attempting to eliminate the "black box" with respect to player selection for level 3 regional national level tournaments, we asked the USTA's national junior comp. office several pointed questions so we understood the process too.
Here's the "scoop" on how competitors and alternates will be selected - many of you may want to rethink your registered age divisions prior to the deadline--we cannot adjust your age division for you after the cutoff deadline, if you miss a cut attempting to "play up."
Competitor Selection Process for any given age division: >>
1st: We will take players 1-52 based upon the NSL for the natural age div. of the Draw.
>> 2nd: We will take up to 12 players from the NSL for one age level below the draw and select players
who are attempting to "play up" provided they are ranked 200 or better on the NSL. (If you are 180 on the NSL and we've already got our 12, you are out of luck, unless you have a high enough ranking in the natural age division of the draw to be selected as one of the first 52, or ranked as a high alternate.) If we can only find 10 players above 200 remaining in the age division below to be selected, then we will return to the NSL of the draw's natural age division and pick then next 2 highest player applicants.
|
K-Swiss SEEDING will be reviewed and adjusted by the USTA Jr. Comp. Office
Seeding Policy for Regional level 3 Tournaments - Suggested, but not yet formally adopted by the USTA
• The most recent National Standings List of the age division of the event in the order
in which they appear on the list
• Players who are accepted based on their standing in the next lower age division may
be seeded in the last group (9-16 or 17-32) if they are in the top 50 of the lower age
division.
• Players may be moved within major groups (1-4, 5-8, 9-16) due to direct wins within
the previous six (6) months if players are separated by less than 100 points
• Players may be moved between major groups due to direct wins within the previous
six (6) months if players are separated by less than 50 points.
|
Alternate Selection Process:
All Alternates will be taken from the NSL of the age division of the Draw.
If you are ranked #202 on the NSL in the age div. below, and could not be picked up as one of the 12 players in round 2 of the selection process above, you will be ranked below every applicant w/ a NSL in the age div. of the draw, unless you also happen to have a NSL in that age division too--then you will be taken in the order how that ranking falls in comparison with the other applicants in the age div. of the draw.
(Sorry...that's just how the system works...you may be a better player, but you won't be selected, until all alternates on the NSL are exhausted...all the way through to #1800 if that's the last applicant's standing.)
