Virtual Tournament Desk Registration **MANDATORY FOR ALL PLAYERS**
In response to COVID-19, we will be using Match Tennis App’s Virtual Tournament Desk technology to help facilitate CDC best practices for running this tournament.
In order to compete in this event, all competitors should check-in online, either using the Match Tennis App or by clicking on the "More Info" link below. Part of the sign in process includes signing the waiver for this tournament prior to playing their first match. The Match Tennis App will allow you to check-in for each match and allow you to see how many matches are scheduled ahead of you from your phone. The App will notify you when your court becomes available and will tell you which court to report to. At the conclusion of your match, you should use the App to report the winner and the score.

Seeding
The Tournament Committee has posted the seeding for each event. If you feel the seeding for your division is incorrect, please contact the Tournament Director right away and explain why you feel the seeding should be adjusted. Direct wins and losses are the most important consideration so you should include the specific results you believe were overlooked by the committee. The draws will not be published until Tuesday afternoon so any seeding comments should be made prior to that time. The delay between posting the seedings and making the draw is done deliberately to enable player comments prior to making the draw.

Ways of Entering the Tournament
The preferred method of entering the tournament is to use the online registration system (click on the "Register Now" link near the top of this web page). If this is not convenient, you may request a printed entry blank and we will send you one in the mail, fax it or email it to you. You can then fill it out and return it to us with your payment. However, you should understand that the fees are higher if you do NOT use the online registration system due to the extra handling it requires.
The fees for mail-in entries will be as follows: Men's Singles Events .......... $100.00 Men's Doubles Events ......... $70.00 per player Women's Singles Events ..... $135.00 Women's Doubles Events .... $85.00 per player
For mail-in entries you may either pay by check or credit card. If you are computer-challenged, and if time permits, we can walk you through the process over the phone or in person, but this can only be done prior to the close of entries. Once the entry deadline has passed it will no longer be possible to use the online registration procedure. Please call our office if you have questions about entering the tournament. PLEASE NOTE: It is not possible to enter the tournament without a current USTA membership or without paying the entry fee. If you don't have a USTA membership or need to renew your membership, please call the USTA Membership Department at 800-900-8782 to purchase or renew your membership.

DRAW POSTING DATE AND DRAW UPDATES:
The draws will be posted at the Beach Club and online beginning
Tuesday evening, 6 days before the tournament starts. Changes in the draws and
schedule will occur as circumstances dictate (injured players, partner
substitutions, withdrawals, etc). We post these changes onsite and on the
internet frequently so please be sure to check the draws at least daily to be
sure that you have the latest information.
While the tournament is in progress, the draws posted on the official
bulletin boards at the site are the official draws. Therefore, it is
especially important to check the posted draws onsite to verify times,
opponents, etc after each match. When changes occur, we make every attempt to
contact the affected players. However, sometimes it happens that we do not
have updated contact information or simply cannot reach players for various
reasons. Therefore, please be sure to check for changes on a regular basis.

DRAW FORMATS - WOMEN'S EVENTS
Entry fees include automatic entry into the associated consolation event.
For Women's Singles events with more than 16 entries, the consolation draws will be Feed-in draws through the round of 16. There will also be a quarter-final playoff and a 3/4 playoff for each event with more than sixteen entries.
The USTA had previously announced that all singles events would have a daily consolation sign-up format but the software is not prepared to handle this so it has been decided that we will return to an automatic Feed-in format for singles. Doubles events will be conducted as Round Robin events with playoffs for the top finishers. We expect that second place finishers in each round robin event will be given the option of playing in an associated consolation event.
|
CONSOLATION DRAWS - MEN'S EVENTS:
Entry fees include automatic entry in the associated
consolation event. For men's events, the consolation draws are open only to those players who
lose their first match.
|
SCORING FORMATS
The scoring format to be used will depend on the event being played: - All main draw singles matches will be the best two of three tiebreak sets. - Women's Doubles matches will use a match tiebreak in lieu of a full third set. - All Consolation matches will use a match tiebreak in lieu of a full third set. - All men's matches will be the best two of three tiebreak sets.
|
COMAN TIEBREAKER
The Coman Tiebreaker will be in use throughout the tournament. It is exactly the same as the standard 12-point Tiebreaker except that players change ends after the first point and every four points thereafter. Please see the USTA Friend-at-Court Publication (available online) for a more detailed description of the tiebreaker.
Note: A link to the Friend-at-Court is contained in the "More info" link at the end of this message.
