Selection has been made for this tournament. Please check the competitors list for your name. If your name is not on the competitors list, your name will appear on the alternate list. If you are an alternate and choose to enter in another tournament, you MUST remove your name from the alternate list by emailing TKronemann@scta.usta.com.

WELCOME
Welcome to the 118th Annual USTA SoCal Junior Sectionals. Historically, this tournament is the largest annual junior tennis tournament in the United States. Because of COVID-19, we have made some changes to the tournament for 2020 only. We will not hold any qualifying tournaments, nor will there be a back draw. There will only be singles matches played.

SITE LOCATIONS
Due to limited court availability, the Boys and Girls 16s and 18s will play in San Diego and the Boys and Girls 10s, 12s, and 14s will play in Orange County. QUARTERFINALS THROUGH FINALS, ALL DIVISIONS WILL BE PLAYED IN SAN DIEGO. QUARTERFINALS ROUND WILL BE PLAYED ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH, STARTING AT 4PM (BG12-18 only).

INTENDED SCHEDULE OF PLAY (MAIN DRAW BG12-18)
We are excited to present the Final Matches for Junior Sectionals on Sunday, November 8th (Finals Day schedule to be released at a later date).
Following is the full schedule: BG12-18: Every division will play one round per day on October 31-November 1 & November 6-8 EXCEPT the first weekend where every division will play two rounds on either Saturday OR Sunday. First Weekend (October 31-November 1): Round 64, Round 32, Round 16 Second Weekend (November 6-8): Quarterfinals (11/6), Semifinals (11/7), Finals (11/8)
BG 10s: One round per day EXCEPT the first weekend where two rounds will be played on either Saturday OR Sunday. No play on Friday (11/6). First Weekend (October 31-November 1): Round 32, Round 16, QuarterfinalsSecond Weekend (November 7-8): Semifinals (11/7), Finals (11/8) *The above schedule may change at the discretion of the Tournament Referee.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT (Boys and Girls 10-18 Singles)
- All 12-18s Round of 64, 32, and 16 matches will play two sets and a 10 point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set, with a 3 minute break for coaching between the second set and the match tiebreak . All Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final matches will play best of three tiebreak sets, with a 10-minute rest period with coaching between the second and third set.

BOYS' & GIRLS' 10 SINGLES INFORMATION
- All 10s matches will be played with the Pro Penn Control+ Green Dot ball on a standard sizes 78' court - All matches will play a “Deciding Match Tie-Break” (first to 10) in lieu of a third set. There will be a 3-minute mandatory rest period with coaching between the second set and the Match Tie-Break.

SEEDING CRITERIA
The following factors will be used in the seeding of the Southern California Junior Sectional Championships:

*Seeding is the system used to separate the top players in a draw so that they do not meet in the early rounds of a tournament.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP
USTA SoCal expects all players to demonstrate good Sportsmanship, to respect the rules and policies associated with the game of Tennis, to respect all Opponents, and to play within the Code.

SPECTATOR POLICY
(INCLUDES PARENTS, COACHES, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, ETC.) In an effort to promote an enjoyable and fair high-level junior tennis tournament, USTA SoCal will enforce a "ZERO TOLERANCE" policy on improper and inappropriate spectator and athlete behavior.
1. Any attempt by a spectator to speak to an official regarding a line call or other ruling during match play will be cause for immediate removal from the playing area and, if warranted, from the premises. 2. Any spectator behavior deemed unacceptable towards a player. other spectator or staff member will be cause for immediate removal from the playing area or the entire premises. If said behavior is directed towards a player, either before, during or after a tournament, it will result in an automatic and immediate suspension of that spectator's right to attend USTA Southern California tournaments, for a period of time to be determined by the USTA Southern California Grievance and Sportsmanship Committee. 3. Refusal to adhere to a removal request will trigger immediate enforcement of the point penalty system against the player with whom the spectator is involved (per point penalty system regulations), including possible immediate default. 4. The On-Site Official is the SOLE judge regarding unacceptable behavior.
Umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.REMOVAL IS NOT SUBJECT TO APPEAL(INCLUDES PARENTS, COACHES, RELATIVES, FRIENDS ETC.)

ELECTRONIC DEVICES PROHIBITED ON COURT
Players may not use electronic devices on court that are designed for communication (Apple Watch, cell phones, pda's, etc.) or data storage/display (pocket notebook, rolodex, word processor, etc.). Use of these devices will result in an immediate code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct. Please note that a device that is in the "ON" mode will be deemed to be "in use." Notes and printed material brought on court for reference by a player are permitted.

USTA SOCAL CLOSED TOURNAMENT
The USTA SoCal Junior Sectionals is a USTA So Cal Level 1 event as well as a USTA Level 4 event. It is only open for entry to USTA junior members domiciled in the Southern California Section who are citizens of the United States, permanent resident aliens, diplomats, aliens with refugee status and aliens with asylee status as defined in the current Friend at Court USTA Regulations (2019: Sec IX.C.1. p. 127). USTA SoCal junior tournaments with national ranking points are closed for entry to all other USTA junior members. IF YOU ATTEND AN ACADEMY, WE MUST HAVE YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PROOF OF RESIDENCY ON FILE. Please send those documents to jcruz@scta.usta.com. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO DO THIS. If we don't have your documents on file, we must remove you from the tournament!

USTA SOCAL DRESS CODE POLICY
The USTA SoCal Junior Sectionals and its Officials have established the following dress code for the tournament: GIRLS: No sports bras or compression garments of any kind are to be worn alone; midriff must be covered when arms are at rest, and spandex shorts or capris must be covered by additional shorts or skirt. BOYS: No cut off t-shirts, or cut off shorts. Sleeveless tennis shirts may be worn. No reference to drugs, violence, alcohol, or foul language may be depicted on player attire.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to specified residents only. Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, October 21, 2020 11:59:00 PM Pacific Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
