Welcome to the Willow Glen Challenger & Open
Draws are now posted. Next weekend's schedule will be posted 10/28 Unfortunately, the USTA canceled doubles. Both the Open and Challenger will play FMLC, which means if you lose your first match in either the 1st or 2nd round, you will enter the back draw. If you win your first match, then lose your second match, you are eliminated. The tournament will be played at 3 sites. The Open will use WGHS & WGMS. The Challenger will use Castillero MS.Please be aware of these venues if your children are entered in different events as Castillero is several miles from Willow Glen. The Open will likely make use of both weekends. We will try and consolidate the Challenger to the finish on 10/31, if we can. Open consolation rounds will be played the second weekend.
We were able to accommodate all on-time entrants, except those who only signed up for doubles.
Please note, due to Covid times we use a virtual assistant to help us administer the tourney. You will need to download the Match Tennis App, if selected. This system will allow you to check-in, receive court assignments, sign and store your USTA waiver, report scores and other functions. We expect everyone to use the app and have it installed, if you don't have it already, by Friday evening at 7pm. Download instructions and tutorials are located below. Thank you!

Match Check-In Procedure
1.
When you arrive (15 min. before your match)
proceed to desk and get your temperature checked and get your sticker, which
lets us know you’ve been temp checked. If you are sick do not come to site! You
must notify the Referee (text 408.590.7347 and/or TD (408.590.5898) and we will
withdraw you. If your temp is above 100.4F, you will not be allowed to play
until your temp drops below 100.41F.
2.
After your temp is checked, use the
MatchTennisApp to virtually check-in. Do NOT congregate around the tournament
desk please! When you get your court assignment via the app, proceed to the desk to get
your can of balls. Everyone will get their own can and should only use their
balls to serve. We will stamp one set of balls with a dot, to help you identify
them. When you finish your match, collect your balls in the can and take them
with you (do NOT leave on court). These are your balls to keep and we will give
you a fresh can for your next match.
3.
When you get on the court, you have 5 minutes to
warm-up. Sometimes you will have an official to time your warmup, but you will
need to follow the 5-minute warmup on your own with or without an official
present. You will also need to spin for side, service, or deferment.
4.
You may not receive coaching or instruction from
anyone outside the courts! You are only allowed to receive coaching between the
2nd and 3rd set. If you are playing a consolation 8-game Pro
set, you are not allowed coaching at any time. If you violate this rule, you
may receive a Code Violation and receive Suspension Points. Not good. Parents
do not talk with your child when they are on the court. If you need help, see
an official or come to the desk, the officials use radios.
5.
Immediately after leaving the court, report your
score using the link on the txt we sent giving you your court assignment.
6.
Check the draws for the time of your next match,
remember the official match times are posted on the website. Should any
disputes arrive, we defer to the website times. If you are late, the official
may impose penalties, including loss of game(s), loss of choice and match
default.
