TOURNAMENT CANCELED -- FRIDAY 8/21
The Willow Glen Jr. Excellence Tourney 8/15-8/23 is canceled due to health concerns. The
current AQI at Willow Glen is over 160 (Unhealthy), it is forecast to
rise to over 200 (Dangerous) soon and remain above that level over the
weekend. The potential to endanger the health of the players, fans and
officials must be paramount, therefore we have received permission from
the USTA to cancel. The tournament will not be rescheduled. There
are several advanced events coming up the next few weeks, including
another Excellence, the Super Series, Sectionals and then a
Championship, so rescheduling is not possible. Everyone was
scheduled for 2 rounds last weekend and you will receive any points
earned for the past weekend. Thanks again for playing, we hope to see
many of you next weekend in the next WG Jr. Excellence.

Tournament Status -- Thursday afternoon

GENERAL INFORMATION
The WG Jr Excellence is a 2-weekend tournament (8/15-16 & 8/22-23).
We are also hosting another Excellence (8/29-30 & 9/5-6), you must sign
up separately for each event! This is a Singles only L4 advanced
tournament and the selection process is explained below. Please read all
Important Info and don't forget to check the links for more info!
For
safety, all players and their guests must wear masks at all times
except when playing (per SJ Unified School District). Everyone will have their temperature checked and if
your temperature is above 100.4 F, you or your guest will not be
allowed to play or stay. All players/guests should maintain at least 6
feet distance between them and other players/guests. Players/guests need
to provide their own water and court seating, as water and court
benches will not be supplied.
Please arrive no more than 10
minutes before your scheduled match and upon completion of your match,
gather all your court gear and your balls and report your score at the
desk - one at a time, and leave the site promptly. Guests must maintain
social distancing guidelines at all times. Please avoid touching any
permanent fixtures and carry your own hand sanitizer. Each match will
utilize 2 ball cans, no balls issued in the event of a third set.
Since
the school site won't open until October, the district is not allowing
regular restroom access. We will have portables at WGHS and the MS will have access to Wallenberg Park's restrooms. Also, we will NOT be
using scorecards on the court, you must call your own scores before
serving. At the completion of the match, give a thurmbs-up instead of an
actual handshake. Please do not touch common areas and it is advised to bring your own sanitizer and to wash your hands, esp after using restrooms.
When you register, be sure to provide your email address and cell phone
number during the registration process. We do not have access to phone numbers
and email addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS the player re-enters
their contact information at the time of the event registration. This means
that if a player does not enter their phone number and email information each
time they register for a tournament, we will not be able to contact them for
any reason, including withdrawals, defaults, etc. Your cooperation will ensure
that we can continue to communicate necessary information to all of the
tournament players.
