Thank you for signing up for the L6 this weekend. We look forward to hosting you at the new Edmond Center Court. When I say new, I mean so new that we haven't even moved in yet! However, due to the very large turnout for the L7 & L6 tournaments this weekend, we will be using the courts at both facilities: Edmond Center Court and Kickingbird Tennis Center. Please note your site on your draw and check in at the specific site. B16 & B18 have the KB matches on Day 1. Edmond Center Court (ECC)601 W. 15th StreetEdmond, OK 73013 Kickingbird Tennis Center (KB)1500 E. Danforth Rd.Edmond, OK. 73034405-348-3120 Due to the ECC facility not being 100% completed, there are certain amenities that are not available yet. In addition, due to COVID restrictions, there are certain ameneities that are not allowed by USTA Oklahoma. So please read these notes carefully so that you and your player arrive with the proper items to make your tournament experience an enjoyable one. Ice and Water: Please pack a large container to take onto the court with enough water and ice to last for the entire match. Please also bring enough back up water/ice in your car to refill in between matches. Facilities are asked not to provide ice/water or have jugs during tournaments due to safety. There is no ice machine yet at the new facility so please plan accordingly. Player Seating & Shade: Edmond Center Court has 8 foot long benches. Due to the length of the benches, we will be allowing the players to each sit on the ends with 6 feet of space in between at ECC. Unfortunately, the shade structures are delayed due to COVID issues in manufacturing and there is no shade on the courts. Please have your player bring an umbrella or a towel or something to provide shade if needed at ECC. Kickingbird matches will need to bring their own seating/chairs on the court and space it at least 6 feet away from their opponent. Court benches will be off limits. Scoring Tenders/Devices: Due to COVID restrictions, no scoring devices will be available. Please make sure your player knows they are expected to call the score loudly and clearly before each point when they are serving. Spectator Seating & Shade: The is no spectator seating or shade at Center Court yet for spectators. In addition, due to USTA OK spectator seating is to be off limits. So all spectators should bring their own seating and their own shade for both facilities. Spectator Policy: USTA Oklahoma is requesting that there is only ONE spectator per player at the tournament. This is to cut down on crowds so that proper social distancing can be implemented. Should we have the need to implement contact tracing during or after the event, players will be asked to provide their contact information for their spectator. Please remember that spectators are not allowed to interact with their players during matches or interact in a rude or inappropriate manner with other parents or tournament staff. No Loitering: USTA Oklahoma has asked that all players and spectators arrive no more than 15 minutes before the match and to vacate the facility immediately after the match. Again, this is to help with crowd control and social distancing. Please only enter the pro shop to use the bathroom, purchase something, or visit the tournament desk. Tournament Desk/Check-in Procedures: I will do my best to wear a mask at the tournament desk. I know that communication is more difficult with a mask on so if your player does not understand me, please have them ask me to repeat myself. Your player is welcome to wear a mask at the tournament desk if you would like. In addition, I have a set a GroupMe that you may join by using this link: https://groupme.com/join_group/60837562/zPlDgFfK You may use that GroupMe to check in instead of visiting the tournament desk and/or to report scores, Just make sure you turn in the match balls into the designated hoppers if you use GroupMe after the match to report scores. The GroupMe will help cut down on traffic at the tournament desk. Please make sure your child is on site and ready to walk on the court to play when you check in. If you are checking in for a match scheduled at Kickingbird, please put KB after your name so our site director knows it is a KB match. Court Etiquette: Players must put their bags and sit at least 6 feet apart from each other on the court. They need to switch sides on opposite ends of the net. No shaking hands after the match. Please tap racquets instead. Please make sure your player understands this before they arrive at the facility.
COVID Precautions: In addition to the steps mentioned above, our staff will be cleaning and disinfecting common areas and the tournament desk every hour. Hand sanitizer will be available in limited quantities - please bring some for your player to use before and after every match. Call the hotel of your choice and ask to book the "Edmond Tennis" rate of $89/night +tax. All 3 hotels are located off of I-35 & 2nd street (exit 141). We appreciate the local hotels working with us for our tournaments in Edmond and appreciate it if you choose to support them.
Scoring: Singles – Ad scoring. Best of 3 sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of 3rd set for the main draw. Best of 3 SHORT sets with a 7-point tiebreaker in lieu of the 3rd set for the consolation draw (3-all, competitors play two more games. If 4-all, a 7-point tiebreak is played.) Draw Format Notes: In the draws with 13+ players, the consolation finals will not be played due to USTA MV rules. If the consolation final on your draw does not have a match time listed, that means that match will not be played. Remember that everyone's level of comfort during the pandemic is different. We will respect those who choose to wear a mask and we will respect those that choose not to. Please help your players understand that the environment is to be encouraging of all players and spectators, and not a place of criticism. Please follow the guidelines above and in the attachments regardless of your personal feelings on their validity and help me make the tournament as safe as I can for everyone at our facility, including our staff.
If you have an immediate need during the tournament you can utilize my cell number - 405-413-7357. If the need is more general or not urgent, please email me at lisa@edmondcentercourt.com. We appreciate your patience as we work through the new facility not quite being opened yet. It will get there, and we hope you enjoy the "sneak peak" this weekend.
