One Hour Rain Delay That Began at 10:30 A.M.
It is currently raining in Snow Hill, and a one hour rain delay began at 10:30. We will update this site throughout the day and send out weather updates through the virtual tournament desk for all players who have registered for matchtennisapp. If there are rain delays, we will be using two additional sites at Farmville Central High School (3308 East Wilson St., Farmville, N.C. 27828) and Greene Ridge Racquet Club (609 Kingold Blvd., Snow Hill, N.C. 28580).

Our Referee
Our referee will be available throughout the weekend to answer questions and to enforce the rules, but we DO NOT supply line judges for matches. Players are expected to make their own calls in accordance with the procedures outlined in "The Code" in Friend at Court.

Second Can of Balls
Parents may request a second can of balls to be used in each match. If that request is made, players will only serve with their can of balls, and the balls will be marked to keep them separate. To request a second can of balls for a match, parents should send an email to DClark2212@gmail.com (preferred) or text 252-341-3710.

Girls' 16's Championship and Third Place Matches
There are nine players in this draw. At this time, this event will be completed in one day with the championship and third place matches set for 4:00 p.m., BUT if either of the two players in the first match of the day at 8:30 advance to the championship or third place match, that match will be moved to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday because it would be a fourth match of the day for the player.

Warm-Up Courts
Players will be allowed to warm up on the courts only before the first matches of the day at 8:30. Players are REQUIRED to practice social distancing at all times during warm-up. The courts will be cleared for warm up at 8:20 a.m., and no warm up courts will be available for the remainder of the day without permission of the referee.

Alternate Sites
Please stay tuned to the tournament web site for more information about alternate sites in case of weather problems this weekend. We may be using Farmville Central High School, Greene Ridge Racquet Club, and Bill Fay Park in Kinston.

Waiver Forms and Check-In Process
Players must use the digital app to check in and fill out the waiver form for this tournament. Players are advised to complete the waiver form on the app before the day of the tournament. Once players have checked in, courts will be assigned through the digital app. Players WILL NOT check in at the tournament desk.

Court Entrances and Exits
All players will enter the courts through the middle gate on the front. Players on back courts will exit through the gate on the side of court 12. Players on front courts will exit through the gate on the side of court six. Tables with hand sanitizer will be located beside of all court entrances and exits.

Concession Stand and Trophies
We will not be awarding trophies for this tournament in order to comply with the current best practices from USTA for hosting tournaments during the covid crisis. Our concession stand will be open for drinks, gatorade, water, and snacks, but we will not be selling any cooked food. Players and parents are required to practice social distancing at the concession stand window. We accept cash and checks, but not credit cards.

Junior Tournament Update from USTA North Carolina as of 6/5/2020 (Phase 2):
Tournament Directors may need to adapt the tournament to the facility with potential changes in format and size of draws, number of players, and scheduling. Any changes or adaptations will be in consult with the USTA NC office. Juniors will play outdoor singles-only events until further notice. Awards, player gifts, and hospitality may be forgone to minimize contact and maximize safety until it is deemed clear to return to these practices. • Tournament Directors and/or facilities are following what are known to be best practices and guidelines during this Phase 2 timeline; tournament structure may differ across the state during this time. • Players and their families will be responsible for following all local and facility safety and social distancing precautions. • Technology use for waiver access will be required for this tournament • Although tournament officials will be present, players will be responsible for playing an unofficiated match as well as knowing The Code (Friend at Court 2020).

Notice to Players, Parents, Coaches, regarding the new formats
for USTA North Carolina ranked tournaments:
Effective 2021, USTA National will be implementing one National
tournament structure, click this link for more detailed information
on this 2021 National Alignment.
In preparation for these confirmed changes in USTA tournament
structure, USTA North Carolina has begun to transition with the
2020 slate of junior tournaments. Each tournament format will be
posted on respective active tournament home pages, and eventually
in the updated 2020 Junior Rules and Regulations to be posted
following our USTA North Carolina Annual Meeting in January,
2020.
As a brief overview, USTA North Carolina ranked tournaments will
now be for divisions 12U through 18U and will be using yellow ball.
For 2020 only, USTA North Carolina will offer 10U Green Level 1
divisions (and 10U standings) for players that are active within
the Youth Tennis Progression (YTP). USTA North Carolina points
tables will continue to be utilized throughout 2020.
2020 Tournaments NC L1 (Advanced) to NC L5 (Intermediate) are
intended for players that have an intermediate skill level attained
through prior level-based play. It is the expectation that each
participant understands the basics of tournament play and are at an
intermediate level of competency in scoring, match protocol and
play, as well as respect and sportsmanship toward fellow players,
parents, and tournament officials. These events are not intended
for beginner players or those new to match play. As a sanctioned
and ranked USTA event, any violations or codes given by an official
/tournament committee member may affect future tournament
participation.

2020 NC Level 4 Tournament
B/G 10U thru 18U
Participants: B/G 10U Green; B/G 12U through 18U Yellow
Ball
Format: Each division (B and/or G 12U singles = one
division) may accept up to 16 players;
Tournaments must receive prior approval from USTA North Carolina
for additional draws in any division with entries over 24; if
approved, players may be waterfalled into two balanced draws,
and/or round robin formats if numbers warrant.
Tournament play may be up to 3-days, doubles starting Fridays not
before 5pm, concluding if possible same evening; Singles on
Saturday and/or Sunday.
� 16-Draw formats are to be Feed-in Consolation to Quarterfinals
(FIC-Q); per Friend at Court, players may play (2) matches in main
draws FIC-Q), and/or (2) consolation matches per day if needed;
byes will fill in brackets from 9-16 as needed, consolation finals
WILL be played out.
� 6-8 Players: 8-player bracket using FIC-Semi format, playing out
consolation finals;
� 3-5 Players: Round Robin play depending on number of entries per
division.
1) Scoring, 12U through 18U Divisions
a) Two out of three sets (set tiebreak to 7 pts at 6-6) with a
10-point match tiebreak used in lieu of the third set
b) Regular (with ads) scoring will be used; No-Ad scoring may be
used for times of weather delays, extreme heat/cold issues, as
determined by the referee
c) 8-game pro sets (with set tiebreak to 7 pts at 8-8) may be used
for DOUBLES and is prohibited in singles; regular scoring (with
ads) to be used.
2) L1-L5 singles events may use short set scoring ONLY when granted
specific permission on a case-by-case basis by the USTA North
Carolina in the event of inclement weather. Use short sets (first
to 4 games by 2). Two out of three tiebreak sets. 7-point set
tiebreak at 4-4. Match Tiebreak (first to 10 points) in lieu of the
third set.
SCORING FOR 10 & Under (10U)-Green Level 1
a) SINGLES: Players will play with USTA approved green dot balls,
the best of 2 short sets, regular scoring (with ads). The first
player to win 4 games by 2 games wins the set. If the game score is
tied at 4-4, a set tiebreak (first to 7 & win by 2) is played.
A set tiebreaker will be played for the third set. The first player
to win 7 points (win by 2) wins the tiebreaker.
In the event of inclement weather, singles play may consist of one
regular six (6) game set with a set tiebreak at 6-6 (first to 7,
win by 2), using AD SCORING, or no-ad at Referee's decision for all
divisions.
10U Green Level DOUBLES: A regular six (6) game set will be played
with a set tiebreak at 6-6 (first to 7 points, win by 2), using AD
SCORING.
3) WITHDRAWALS/NO-SHOWS:
It is considered to be a conduct violation should a player
withdraw/no-show in any portion of the tournament (including
consolation rounds) for reasons other than illness, injury,
personal circumstance, or previously authorized entry into another
tournament. The tournament officials may code this as an unexcused
"default", which bring suspension points to the player
withdrawing.
Selection: Tournament participants will be selected via Tournament
Director process, whereas a Tournament Director/Official creates a
Player Order Report based on current NC Standings. North Carolina
players with standing have priority and are selected in order;
players with no standing (NC or out of state) may play as space
allows. All 12U players must be "Mission Complete" within the Youth
Tennis Progression, or be 11 years of age.
Eligibility: All B/G 12U through 18U events will be played with
yellow ball. AS of 2020, players must be 11 years of age or
"Mission Complete" in the youth tennis progression to participate
in 12U or higher events. 12U through 18U standings points and
calculations remain unchanged for 2020.
10U players must be in "Green Level 1" of the youth progression to
participate in any 10U event in 2020. All USTA North Carolina Level
5 (NCL5) through Level 1 (NCL1) 10U Green singles events in 2020
will be tagged as a youth progression event and players will earn
YTP stars/trophies as needed until they are mission complete. 10U
Players will earn standing points but they will not carry forward
to the 12U Division.
Start Times: Specific start times and court locations will be on
the draws posted not later than Thursday noon prior to tournament
start.
Players are encouraged to be at the tournament check-in 30-minutes
prior to their scheduled match time to ensure timely scheduling.
USTA Rules will be enforced for lateness.
Tennis Balls: New USTA-approved tennis balls will be used at the
beginning of each match event for each division in both main and
back draw events. This includes 10U green level play.
Awards: Each B/G Age Division will receive a Finalist/Champion
Award at the end of each event finals.
Registration: Players will follow the registration prompts on the
tournament home page; entry fees are set by each individual
tournament and will also include a non-refundable TennisLink usage
fee of approximately $3. Only on-line entries will be accepted. NC
L4 registration typically closes at 11:59pm the Sunday (5 days)
before the start of the tournament. Withdrawals must be made prior
to the registration deadline.

Tournament Environment:
It is the expectation that this USTA-North Carolina sanctioned
event is a safe, friendly, and professional environment. Each
facility should meet or exceed the minimum requirements of safe
courts, accessible water/restroom facilities, score tenders, and
singles sticks for quality and consistent competition. Each site is
expected to have a tournament representative on site for the
duration of the event.
Spectators are to keep a moderate distance from the courts. While
shade and/or seating may be available at each venue, spectators are
encouraged to bring lawn chairs, umbrellas, etc for their personal
comfort.
USTA North Carolina Rules & Regulations:
The USTA North Carolina Jr Competition and Sanction & Schedule
committees, as well as the USTA North Carolina Board of Directors
have approved these formats for USTA North Carolina for 2020 in
preparation for the 2021 National Tournament Structure. USTA/USTA
North Carolina 2020 Rules and Regulations will be enforced.
In the event of rain/unplayable courts, the current USTA North
Carolina Rain/Inclement Weather policy remains in force and is
published in the current Junior Rules and Regulations found at
nctennis.com
Tournament Officials/Referees:
Tournament Official(s) will be available throughout the weekend to
answer questions and to enforce the rules. Matches going to
tie-breakers will be expected to play according to "The Code" as
all other games played. Parents/Coaches are expected to conduct
themselves also in accordance to "The Code" to ensure fair play.
Players are expected to make their own calls in accordance with the
procedures outlined in "The Code" in Friend at Court.
