Baseline Tennis Center August 2020 Boys Singles Championships - (Level 5)

Outdoor Play
All matches will be played outdoors. Indoor courts will be utilized in case of inclement weather only. Indoor courts will not be available for warm-up/practice during the tournament. Outdoor courts will be available for warm-up/practice prior to the start of play each day, and on a first-come, first-serve basis only.

Spectators
While we are allowing 1 spectator per player, we strongly encourage you to consider not coming on site unless you have to. Spectators have to check in through the same health screening as players, wear a mask when on site, and stay 6 feet away from others at all times. THERE WILL BE NO SPECTATOR SEATING AVAILABLE. You may bring your own chair if you like.

WhatsApp - Check In and Score Reporting
This weekend, we will be utilizing WhatsApp for check in and score reporting. If you do not currently have WhatsApp, you will receive an invite to the cell phone number you used to register your player by end of the day today (Wednesday, August 19). If you already have WhatsApp on your phone, you can program our tournament phone number into the phone app: 612-363-9331.

Check In and Score Reporting
* Everyone (players, spectators, and staff) must wear a mask at all times (unless on court)
* Everyone must adhere to social distancing guidelines while on site at Baseline
* Everyone must complete one daily health screening at tournament desk
* No persons on the premises should have any of the following symptoms: Fever (100.4 F or higher), or feeling feverish, chills, new cough, shortness of breath, new sore throat. new muscle aches, new headache, new loss of smell or taste
* After your health screening, complete your tournament tournament check in by messaging the tournament desk through WhatsApp
* Court assignments will be texted directly to players via WhatsApp
* Final scores must be sent by the players to the tournament desk via WhatsApp
* A confirmation text will be sent back to the player upon receipt
* Later check-ins can be completed via WhatsApp (only 1 health screening per day)


On Court Policies and Best Practices
* Official/Court Monitors will distribute new balls by emptying can onto court (no ball touching)
* Players will dispose of the balls after the match in hoppers placed on court
* Before and after playing a match, players are encouraged to wash hands with soap and water at portable hand washing stations near the courts
* Hand sanitizer will be available at every court, players are encouraged to sanitize their hands throughout the match
* Players are strongly encouraged to bring their own water to court

As of Monday, August 3, the tournament changed from a Dominant Duo format to a Singles Only event. Due to the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic, Baseline felt it best to not offer doubles during this tournament and to change the tournament to a singles only event for the safety of all.

Due to players registering for doubles prior to this change, tournament staff is not able to delete the "Doubles" events listed on this homepage. To be clear, there will be no doubles matches played during this event. This event is now singles only.

All draws will be first match loser consolation. Players are guaranteed 2 matches only.


There will be no 3rd place matches. Consolation draw will be played to completion.


All matches will play best 2 out of 3 sets, with a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of a full 3rd set.


5 minute warm-up will be enforced throughout the tournament.

General
As little in-person interaction as possible will create a low-risk environment for spreading COVID-19, while still allowing for sanctioned tennis matches to be played

Tournament Desk
There will be a tournament desk located near the tennis courts, use of PPE by staff will be observed. Use of radio and electronic communication among staff and participants will be utilized. Match check-in and score reporting to be completed via electronic/text communication. Remotely send matches to court via electronic/text messaging

Tournament Staff/Officials
Use of a mask when operating within 6 feet of another person. Routinely wash hands and sanitize work stations (Will have portable stations available). Officials and Baseline staff will handle tennis balls without touching them: Deliver balls to the court and empty the balls directly from the can onto the court without touching them. Kick balls to players if necessary instead of picking up the balls. Players will be responsible for disposing the balls in marked receptacles

Tournament Participants
Players should wear a mask at all times when not on court playing. Players should come prepared with water, food, towels, hand sanitizer etc as facilities and other commodities will not be provided by the tournament. Players should arrive on site no more than 20 minutes prior to their match time and should leave the premises immediately following their match. Wash hands before and immediately after playing match (portable hand wash stations will be available). Follow ALL tournament policies outlined on this tournament homepage and Baseline website including check in and score reporting procedures (more info to come via this homepage and email to participants)

Only 1 spectator per player is allowed on the premises and must remain in designated location All facility guidelines must be followed, including social distancing and wearing of a mask

Players who withdraw after the entry deadline for any reason other than a previously authorized entry into concurrent tournaments are not entitled to a refund.

If a player has previously paid an entry fee and is not accepted into the tournament, the player is entitled to a refund. Generally, in USTA Junior Tournaments, no player is charged an entry fee until tournament selection is done and the acceptance list is published to the tournament website. The TennisLink processing fee, paid in addition to the entry fee, is not refundable.

If a player has previously received written authority to enter concurrent tournaments from each Tournament Committee, the player is entitled to a refund from the tournament(s) that will not be played. The TennisLink processing fee, paid in addition to the entry fee, is not refundable.

The tournament is scheduled for the dates listed above. Players are expected to be available for all dates listed on the homepage. Please read through Baseline’s refund policy in its entirety before registering.

Exact match scheduling will be released no later than 36 hours prior to the start of play (ie Wednesday evening for a tournament that begins on Friday). The entire weekend’s schedule will be released at that time. The tournament director reserves the right to alter the schedule in case of conflicts that arise due to weather, court and player availability etc.

It is the intention of the tournament to have one roving official at the facility throughout the competition. There may be times that an official is not available, the tournament desk will always be staffed to help answer questions and help with any issues on court and will have direct communication with the tournament director as needed.

Due to the close proximity of the Baseline Tennis Center to 4 major athletic venues, parking may be at event rates (up to $10.00/car) with no in/out privileges. Metered parking is available behind the building at $1.25/hr as available. Please consider carpooling, walking a longer distance, etc. to minimize the impact of these events. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. A parking event calendar is at the link below. The calendar will show events, lots affected and times in which event parking will be enforced.

Practice courts prior to the start of the tournament can be purchased by calling the front desk at 612-625-1433. Indoor courts are available at a public junior rate of $28 per hour + applicable sales tax. Outdoor courts are available at a public rate of $8 per hour + applicable sales tax. During the tournament, practice courts may not be available. Please check with the tournament desk when on-site to inquire if courts are available for practice and warm-up purposes.

A stringer will always be on site during business hours. We are able to turn around any racquet within 24 hours. For most requests, we are able to complete in a couple hours. If players provide their own string, we charge only $21 per racquet. If you require string, we carry most Babolat synthetic string brands. There will not be a trainer on site. If a player needs treatment on court, the player may designate a parent or guardian to treat them. In case of emergency, the tournament desk will call 911.

Ice will be available at the tournament desk.

Water is available at all levels of Baseline and will also be available at the tournament desk.

Baseline does not have a towel service on site, please bring your own court towels.

SEEDING - The Computerized List Method will be used for seeding (FAC Comment II.A-4), based on the current standings/ranking list.
