USTA L5 NC Tournaments 2020, National 2021
NC L5 tournaments are ONE DAY format playing short sets to 4, win by two, NO ADD SCORING. For all age divisions, a five (5) point tiebreak will be played at 4-4 to determine the set. For all age divisions, at one set each a seven (7) point tiebreak will be played to determine the match. All L5 tournaments are sanctioned for two days to allow for any bad weather conditions. All play should be completed in one day for the player. In the transition period, we appreciate your patience as terminology and decisions are fine tuned.

MATCH TIMES/ CHECK IN
All match times are posted through to the final round. It is our hope to stay on schedule, however, sometimes the match time depends on the length of another match. You will get your second match time from the tournament desk at your site. Double check match times before you leave home for Gastonia. Any rain delays will be posted here by 7:30 am Saturday morning. REPORT DIRECTLY TO YOUR MATCH SITE.

RAIN / WET COURTS ???
It has been a very wet couple of weeks. Our hope is that all sites will be dry and ready to play. What you need to know: There are no indoor courts. We will send out updates through THIS website (Tournament Home Page, under the Important Information tab) Remember, you must refresh your page to get current information. Any DELAYS will be found here. PLEASE CHECK HERE Friday night and Saturday morning for any time delays. If posted Saturday morning, it would be at least 2 hours prior to the first match times (7:30 am).

BAD WEATHER - What to do??
If the tournament Referee determines the courts will not be ready for matches at the scheduled time, they will go on "A DELAY". Example: Jo-Jo is scheduled for 9:30 am . Before you leave, check Tournament Home page under important information, and if it shows a "TWO (2) hour delay". The new match time would be 11:30 am at the same location. Thank you for arriving 20 minutes early for all match times. These UPDATES do not show up on the mobile site unless you go to the blue - Information for additional info.

FPark (on the draw): 1401 Golf Course Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054 - From I-85, exit 22 Go LEFT, at the fourth light turn right on to E. charlottecharlotteHudson Blvd. At the second light go right on to UNION ROAD. Turn LEFT on to E. 12th Ave, Left on to Kelly Street and a quick right on to Golf Course Drive. Courts are at the end of the road on the left. ALL BOYS' EVENTS: 10s' - 16's

Bradley Center Tennis Courts (BCTC)
BCTC (on the draw): 1200 N. Modena Street: From I-85 take exit 19 (East Gastonia), go West towards downtown Gastonia. Turn Right at the first light (Modena Street). Bradley Center will be approximately one mile on the right.

SPORTSMANSHIP EXPECTATIONS
In order to truly enjoy the
sport of tennis, it is essential to display good sportsmanship which includes
abiding by the rules, playing fair, and showing respect for your opponent. We
expect that ALL players who compete this weekend abide by guidelines set forth

DEFAULTS/RETIREMENTS/WALKOVERS- IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE YOUR TIME CALL TOURNAMENT DESK 704-864-5304
Many times, the tournament director checks emails prior to the start of the day. They may not have time to check while overseeing matches. PLEASE CALL tournament desk if you can not make your scheduled time. (Remember, another player and parent are waiting for you to arrive) This area has the potential to be an enforceable
code violation by each tournament for
unexcused defaults, retirements, no-shows/walkovers for both main and
consolation rounds. Player shall not fail to appear for
reasons other than injury, illness, or personal circumstance. A player shall
not enter a tournament and then fail to appear for a match (whether in the
qualifying, main, or consolation draw) except for illness, injury, or personal
circumstance. If the player’s reason for failing to appear is not one of these
reasons, or if the player gives no reason for failing to appear, then the match
shall be recorded as a default.

PLAYER'S RESPONSIBILITY
It is the PLAYER'S responsibility to know their next match time and show up in a timely manner. Check the website often for updated match times. PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN FOR EACH MATCH 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO IT'S SCHEDULED START TIME. ALL USTA RULES WILL BE ENFORCED FOR LATENESS.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Monday, February 17, 2020 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
