USTA Southern Policy Regarding Coronavirus
Coronavirus Update, March 11th, 2020
In light of an abundance of caution
relating to the moving dynamics of the Coronavirus (Covid-19). USTA
Southern Adult & Junior Tennis Tournament Departments have adopted short
term policies for all Junior and Adult tournaments being held March 9th
on.
·
Tournament staff will monitor their county health guidelines and
Center for Disease Control (CDC) daily: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
·
Tournaments may still operate, as long as they follow CDC and
their county health guidelines.
·
Players will be able to withdraw without any penalty up until
the draw has been made. Entry fees should be refunded except for Active
Registration Fees.
·
Sites will do their best to sanitize common areas and provide
hand sanitizers.
·
If tournament does take place, please temporarily refrain from
handshakes after the conclusion of matches. We suggest a light racket tap
instead. No sharing of towels and water bottles. Wash hands/sanitize regularly.
·
Ultimately, however, it is up to each player and/or parent in
deciding whether to participate in any event. Further, every player is expected
to take all reasonable precautions to protect themselves from the risk of
exposure.
·
Please post ALL pertinent information on your tournament
homepage and update regularly.
·
Ultimately it is the parents and players decision to attend or
not attend the event.
·
Thank you for your cooperation during this time. If there are
any questions, please do not hesitate to call the USTA Southern office,
770.368.8200.
We
will be continuing to monitor and will update the policy as
needed as additional information becomes available.
