USTA/North
Carolina COVID Precautions
North Carolina
is still under Phase 3 restrictions due to the COVID pandemic. As such, the
Governor’s Executive Order dictates that youth sporting events are limited to
50 spectators per site for an event. With 12 courts at each site and two
players per court, that provide a limit of two spectators per player at each
facility.
To comply with
the state law, we ask that all players and their families abide by the
following protocols: - Players
should limit the number of people travelling with the player and watching
their match to two people or fewer. - All
players and parents MUST wear masks (per
USTA/Southern regulations) while on the grounds of the facility and not on
the court - Players
and their parties who are not on court playing should remain in the
parking lot or in their cars until called to court. - Players
should leave the facility once their match is complete.
While
tournament staff and officials are not looking to be the COVID police, if the
crowds at the facilities become too large, or parents and players are not
abiding by these protocols, the tournament staff and officials have the right
to enforce these protocols through code violations to the players involved for
their current match or next match (including giving player suspension points)
and removing the players/parents from the facilities.
We look forward
to having a great weekend of tennis. Please contact us at info@carolina10s.com with any questions. You may reach us at 828-406-7383 (preferably by text) during the tournament
with any questions.

IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The tournament deadline is Thursday, October 29th. Player selections will be made on Friday, October 30th by 9pm. Each age division will have a maximum of 32 players split using the waterfall method into two 16-player compass draws. Each draw will be played over two days with a maximum of two matches per day. THERE ARE NO DOUBLES BEING OFFERED AS PART OF THIS EVENT.
The scoring format for all matches per USTA/Southern regulations for Level 3 events is best two-of-three sets with a match tiebreaker to 10 in lieu of a third set with regular ad scoring.
All matches will be played at one of three sites: Queens University Tennis Center (QSC on drawsheets) 2229 Tyvola Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 Jeff Adams Tennis Center (JATC on drawsheets) 1200 W. Tyvola Road, Charlotte, NC 28217 Park Road Park (PRP on drawsheets) 6225 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210
It is possible we may add a fourth site if necessary due to the number of participants. Information will be given at a later time if that occurs.
There will not be practice courts on site during the tournament, but you may warm-up at the site prior to the 8am matches. More information on practice courts will also be given after the registration deadline.
Per USTA/North Carolina policies, there will NOT be scoring devices or chairs/benches for players on the courts. It is suggested that players bring their own chairs and scoring devices if necessary.
When a player checks in on Match Tennis App, they will receive a court assignment when their court is ready. Players will then have five minutes to be on court ready to play. If a player checks-in less than five minutes prior to their schedule match time, then they will not receive the five minutes to get to court before lateness penalties will be applied (see below).
Lateness penalties will be strictly enforced. Players should be at their playing site and check-in on the Match Tennis App 15 minutes prior to their match time. Lateness penalties will be based on the time that the player arrives at their court and ready to play, NOT when they check-in on Match Tennis App. If a player checks in on the Match Tennis App at 9:57 for a 10am scheduled match, but does not arrive to their court until 10:03, they will be penalized for lateness, even though they checked in on the app before their match time.
All scores for matches should be entered into Match Tennis App before leaving the court. To enter your score, please click the link that was sent with your court assignment.
Any withdrawals before or during the event or retirements during a match must send an email to info@carolina10s.com with the reason for the withdrawal or retirement.
Please make sure you have reception at your playing site and ARRIVE EARLY IN CASE YOU DO HAVE CONNECTION ISSUES.
If you have issues with Match Tennis App, please hit the GREEN CIRCLE on the app to chat directly with a technical support specialist at MTA. Site Directors and Tournament Committee members do not have the technical knowledge to assist you.
Technical issues in using Match Tennis App are NOT a reason for players and their guests to NOT use the app for check-in, court assignments and score reporting. If you do not have cell service at your playing site and are unable to use the app, you may call or send a text to 828-406-7383 (at least 15 minutes prior to your match time) so we can find a way to address the situation. Communication received within 15 minutes of your match time will not be able to be handled before the match is called to court.
Although we do not expect any inclement weather, the scoring format could be changed in the case of rain.
Due to North Carolina’s Executive Order and the policies of USTA/Southern and USTA/North Carolina in response to the executive order, there are certain policies ALL PLAYERS and PARENTS must observe while at the facilities for the event:
Players must bring their own chair and set their chair up at the specified location on each court Players may not use any chairs or benches that are on the courts, including gazebos or shaded seating areas.
Water and ice will not be provided for players or parents at the event.
Players are limited to TWO GUESTS on the grounds at the facility during the match. The NC Executive Order limits the number of spectators to a total of 50 for youth sports activities. Based on the number of courts at our facilities, we are limiting the number of guests to TWO to remain consistent at all sites.
Players must wear masks at all times when not on the court for a match. Their guests must wear masks at all times when at the facility (USTA/North Carolina policy).
Players and their guests are asked to remain in the parking lot or in their car upon arrival at sites and until their match is called. Players and their guests must leave the facility within 5 minutes of the completion of their match.
Players and their guests are not allowed inside the buildings at the locations, except to use the bathroom.
These policies and procedures are to ensure that each facility is adhering to the regulations as stipulated by USTA/Southern, USTA/North Carolina and the State of North Carolina. Any player or their guest that is in violation of these policies and procedures will receive a warning first. Any further violations could result in players receiving a code violation or being suspended from the event.
The facilities hosting this event have graciously allowed the tournament to be played. Please respect their policies and procedures while at their locations.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info@carolina10s.com before the tournament.
