SAC Winter Blast Jr. SC L4 (2021 Nat L7)

We are on a one hour delay this morning on all HARD courts at both sites. CLAY court matches will still begin at 9:30.

Draws were posted as of 3:30 Thursday afternoon. We will not be able to make any adjustments in the schedule unless withdrawals occur due to the number of matches we have scheduled. Matches which do not show a day/time will be scheduled for Sunday. Remember that draws with 6 or more players will NOT play a consolation final.

We will be using both Spartanburg Athletic Club (hard and clay courts) and Spartanburg Day School (hard courts.)
Playing at SAC Hard courts will be: Girls' 12's and all boys' and girls' 10's divisions.
Playing at SAC Clay courts will be: Girls' and Boys' 16's and 18's.
Playing at Spartanburg Day School will be: Boys' 12's and Boys' and Girls' 14's.


There are over 110 players in this tournament and several families with siblings playing. It is impossible to schedule siblings at the same times and same sites. There is more than enough time between matches to make the 10 minute trip between the Club and the Day School.

* When setting up your Match Tennis App account, all family members should sign in with the same username and password.
* Make sure you add three DIFFERENT contact numbers during the Pre Tournament Virtual Check-In THAT WILL BE ON during the tournament. They all should be cell numbers since messages will be in the form of texts. When you are called to court, all your contact phones will receive the message.
* If you need to add or change contact numbers go to “My Account” in Match Tennis App and click “Completed Waivers” to add or change contact numbers.

Seeding was based upon the latest USTA Southern Rankings of November 30, 2020, on the date registration closed for the tournament.

Anyone who must withdrawal MUST send an email to the referee at lsandusky@bellsouth.net. Do NOT call the Club.

Due to the large number of matches to be played this weekend, we will be using NO AD scoring in ALL our matches. When the score
reaches 40-40, the next point wins the match. At 40-40, the receiver has the choice of where to receive the serve.

Any division with 6 or more players in the draw, will NOT play a consolation final.

USTA AND SPARTANBURG ATHLETIC CLUB GUIDELINES WILL BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED IN THIS TOURNAMENT!!! When you register your child, PLEASE sign up for communications from the tournament desk as we will be corresponding with you through that process.

1. ONLY PLAYERS AND ONE GUEST EACH WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY.
2. Spectators will need to bring their own chairs as club chairs will not be available.
3. Seating for players will be available on courts.
4. After the match is over and players have reported the score, they will need to leave the facility until the next scheduled match.
5. Restrooms inside the club will be available but no non-members will be allowed to wait inside for their next match.
6. Social distancing will be enforced throughout the weekend.
7. Players will tap rackets at end of match--no handshakes.

Spartanburg Athletic Club has both hard and clay tennis surfaces, therefore the tournament will be played on both. Divisions will be scheduled on one or the other surfaces for the tournament.

Please check in 30 minutes before EVERY scheduled match. . BE SURE TO CHECK THE WEBSITE BEFORE REPORTING FOR EACH MATCH IN CASE SOMETHING HAS CHANGED. ALSO CHECK THE DRAWS BEFORE EACH MATCH FOR CORRECT TIME.

We will be playing a modified feed-in. Any age division with 4 or less players will be a round robin. ALWAYS report to the tournament desk after each match, win or lose, to see if you have another match. ALWAYS check the draws online to be sure you have the correct match time.

Each player will receive a souvenir from the tournament. Provisions for lunch on Saturday will be made available as well as individual snacks for the players.

Any player currently ranked in the SC standings in the top 10 in the 12's-16's age divisions must play
up in the next age division.

Please be aware that this tournament has two 10 and Under Youth Progression divisions: ORANGE BALL DIVISION AND GREEN BALL DIVISION. This means that in order to play in a 10 & Under singles event, you must be eligible for the corresponding level. Boys' and girls' 10's ORANGE BALL divisions will be played on a 60' court using a low compression orange ball. Racquet size is limited to 25" or smaller. Draw format will be determined by the number of participants. Scoring format as follows: 2 out of 3 short sets using NO AD scoring, first to 4 games (win by 2.) A 7-point tiebreak is played if players reach 4 all. If players split sets then a 7 point tiebreak is played for the 3rd set (win by 2.) THERE IS NO COACHING BETWEEN THE 2ND AND 3RD SET BREAK IN THE 10 & UNDER DIVISIONS.

Boys' and Girls' 10's Green Ball division will be played on a 78' court using a low compression green ball. Draw format will be determined by the number of participants. Scoring format is as follows: best of two short sets (first to 4 and win by 2 games) with a set tiebreak (first to 7 and win by 2)at 4-4 in each set. A set tiebreak (first to 7 and win by 2) for the 3rd set. They will use NO AD scoring at this level of play. For doubles, players will play 1 six game set, with a set tiebreak (first to 7, win by 2) at 6-6. THERE IS NO COACHING BETWEEN THE 2nd AND 3rd SETS IN THE 10 & UNDER DIVISIONS.

Singles main draw and consolation will play best 2 out of 3 sets with a 10 point match tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd set. AD SCORING WILL BE USED IN ALL 12's AND 18's DIVISIONS. If you split sets you are entitled to a 3 minute set break and on-court coaching is allowed. The player remains inside the fence and the coach talks to player from outside fence. If you leave the court you will forfeit your time to receive coaching.
