Player/Parent Contact Info
Tournament directors do not have access to phone numbers and email
addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS the player
re-enters their contact information at time of event registration.
This means that if a player does not enter their phone and email
information each time they register for a tournament, the
tournament director will not be able contact them for any reason,
including withdrawals, defaults, byes, rain delays, etc. Your
cooperation will ensure that tournaments can continue to
communicate necessary information to you. Thank you.
Start Times:
Matches might start as early as 4:00pm Friday
Matches
might start as early as 7:00am on Saturday and Sunday. Sites will
open 1/2 hour before play begins.
Due to the large amount of entries in this tournament, scheduling
requests will not be granted. .
Withdrawal Policy
If a player withdraws or defaults (for reason other than illness or
injury) from any sanctioned tournament in the Southwest Section
(L3-L6), after entries close, that player will be assessed 4
suspension points unless medical documentation of the injury or
illness is provided to the Tournament Director AND Southwest
Section Junior Player Development Manager within 48 hours after
the completion of the tournament.
"Player shall not enter tournament player cannot finish. Player
shall not enter a tournament (including mandatory consolation)
knowing the player will be unable to finish." p119 Friend at
Court.
In theory, the Junior Competition Committee feels that it is
important to adopt and strongly enforce National's ruling on the
Suspension Point System. In recent years, several players have been
pulling out of tournaments, especially L3-5 events, on the final
day of competition or once a player is in the back draw.
Tournament Format
Singles-12-18U- best of 3 tiebreak sets with a 10
point tiebreak in lieu of the third set, no ad scoring for main
draw matches and an 8-game pro set for consolation matches, no ad
scoring.
USTA Southwest Dress Code
All players are required to wear appropriate tennis attire. Cut off
shorts, bare midriffs, compression shorts & tights (alone), or
any other attire that is simply recreational and not tennis
oriented is not acceptable.
Overrule Policy
Once a player has been overruled a second time, they will be
cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for
unsportsmanlike conduct under the Point Penalty System: point,
game, default.
Rationale: This policy is based on Friend At Court Comment IV.D-15
which states, "An official should consider cautioning a player if
there have been two overrules during the same set. Once an official
cautions a player that subsequent overrules will be penalized under
the Point Penalty System, the official must penalize subsequent
overrules.
Player Selection TypePlayers are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry TypeEntry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, September 16, 2020 11:59:00 PM Arizona Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
