L3 63rd Long Beach Junior Open, Long Beach

I will post the draws/schedule for second weekend on Wednesday night Feb 26th by 8 pm.

Due to the rain, all singles matches will play a match tie break in lieu of a third set. All 10 & 12-year-old matches will consist of best of two sets with a "Deciding Match Tie-Break" (first to 10) played in lieu of a third set until the finals when the BG 14-18 will play out a full third.

Practice Courts cannot be guaranteed as there are so many matches to be played. at each site you will be able to show up a hour before the first matches of the day to warm up. after that, you should find other locations. Please click on More Info to get a listing of other courts in the LB area. there are many small parks with courts all around.

The deadline for this event is Sunday, Feb 16th. I will take "late entries" only until Monday, Feb 17th until 3 pm. After that, no late entries will be accepted - LATE ENTRY FEE - $10.00 PER PLAYER.

If a Player withdraws after the draws are posted, we will let another player take that spot as long as that player would not have been seeded. (A seeded player can be replaced with a unseeded player or another player who would have been seeded)

UTR will be the main factor for seeding in this event. Although other factors like SCTA or even Nationals rankings may come into play when deciding seeds.

DOUBLES & 10 & UNDER - WE WILL USE THE SCTA RANKINGS FOR THESE DIVISIONS. (SORRY IF YOU ALREADY SEEN THIS SEEDING USING THE UTR SYSTEM)

All matches at Lakewood & El Dorado Park Tennis Centers will be recorded in HD. This is a great service which can be used as a developmental tool to move your game ahead or simply as a historical archive of your matches. Before or after your match stop by the desk at El Dorado or the pro shop at Lakewood Tennis Center to order yours. $25.00 (EMAIL ME IF YOU INTEND ON GETTING YOUR MATCH RECORDED. I WILL TRY TO PUT YOU AT THOSE SITES THAT ARE RECORDING.)

Doubles will start the first weekend. The doubles will be an 6 game set. Tie Break at 6 all (first to 7 by 2) IMPORTANT "PLAYERS MUST PLAY IN THE SAME AGE DIVISION AS THEIR SINGLES". (EXAMPLE = A PLAYER IN THE GIRLS 14 SINGLES CAN ONLY ENTER THE GIRLS 14 DOUBLES)

This is because of scheduling issues. ALSO, DOUBLES WILL BE SCHEDULED IN THE MORNING EACH DAY BEFORE SINGLES.

We are enforcing penalties for being late for your match. If you are 1 minute late = loss of toss & 1 game, 6 minutes late = loss of toss & 2 games, 11 minutes late = loss of toss & 3 games. After 16 minutes your match is subject to default. Please leave early and check road conditions. BE SURE TO TAKE THE TOURNAMENT PHONE NUMBER WITH YOU AND CALL IN CASE OF A PROBLEM ON THE WAY.
