instead will be using Match Tennis App’s Virtual Tournament Desk to help
facilitate CDC guidelines for social distancing. Please click

WE ARE THANKFUL TO BE HOSTING A TOURNAMENT, BUT A LOT HAS CHANGED
Our Tournament and Facility Staffs are extremely THANKFUL to
host this event and provide a venue for the Juniors to play tennis once again.
We are diligently working to make sure we can provide a safe and organized
venue to allow this tournament to be played for your benefit. We have had one
successful event while complying with all agencies, including National, State,
City, Health Department, and USTA trying to keep players and staff safe. Your
patience and understanding will be appreciated. We will have very strict procedures to make sure we do not give any agency any
reason to shut down our venue and possibly tournaments in general. This will be
No Frills Tennis. Keep in mind, we all need to be thankful the reopening
process has started and all of us must comply so we can continue with
tournaments so your kids can earn ranking points. Those of you who have been to Mobile before know we try to do
everything we can to provide amenities for you. Due to the pandemic, all this
has changed. Most of our funding will go towards Staffing, Officials,
Walkie-Talkies, double trainers, and cleaning supplies. As
you read all the rules I am sure you will feel much like I did when I read the
27 page Going Back to School Plan for my daughter’s senior year (she might as
well be in prison). Then I realized they
have to comply with some of the same agencies I do and have to protect everyone’s
health in the process just to be able to get people out of the house. It is a heavy burden to think you might be
putting someone at risk. We expect 100%
Compliance on all procedures from you - THIS TOURNAMENT AND FACILITY WILL NOT
BE THE REASON TENNIS IS SHUT DOWN AGAIN!

COMMUNICATION - PLEASE READ ENTIRE WEBSITE
--All information will be posted on this Tournament Homepage.
--Please email if you need to contact us, tennismobile@gmail.com. Please
include the name of the tournament and age division in your correspondence.
--We will be using the Match Tennis App for Tournament Check-In,
Match Check-In, Court Assignment, and Score Reporting. The link for the Virtual Tournament Desk
(VTD) and Tutorial will be posted by Tuesday, 7/28.
--After selections have been made, you must complete the
Tournament Check In though the Match Tennis App by Wednesday 8/5. This must be completed for Badges to be
printed. If you do not complete this by
8/5, you run the risk of not having a badge to enter the gates. Through this app you must complete the
following to be fully checked-in:
**Waiver
**Player phone number – this number is used to text the court
assignment which will allow you to enter the gates along with your badge. This number will also be used to text other
important tournament information.
**Chaperone Name and Number – we assume this is the “plus one.” If it is not, you need to email tennismobile@gmail.com by 8/5 to tell us who the “plus one” is. This number will also be used to text the
court assignment and other tournament information.
**Hotel – this information is very important to our organization. While the app will allow you to check in
without this, we will not print your badge unless we have it. We just need the exact hotel name, we do not
need # of nights or room number. There
are several of the same hotel name at different locations such as Holiday Inn
Express USA/Old Shell or Holiday Inn Express I65 Service Road. This
is a requirement from our City and County and we must have it.
|
PLAYER PLUS ONE
To help with distancing, only the player plus one person
will be allowed inside the gates. --You must communicate your Plus One Name by 9:00 pm Wednesday,
August 5th. Delays in your
response may result in the plus one badge not being printed. --Upon being called to the court for your first match, players will
pick up a bag with their badges. --The player and the plus one will be given a badge and will not be
allowed in the facility without that badge. --Badges must be worn at all times when on site, except when player
is actually playing. Players must wear
upon entering and exiting the site. --Badges may not be shared. We must know the exact "plus one" in case we have to make Covid notifications per the Health Department. --One means one. One does not mean one plus the exception for siblings,
both parents, grandparents, friends, the family pet, etc. The point of the "plus
one" is to limit those in attendance, limit possible exposure, and limit cross-contamination. While we realize you may not understand all the reasons for policies and
procedures, just trust that we are doing everything we are required and
obligated to do for the safety of your kid. We honestly would love for you to
bring your entire extended family, coaches, trainers, etc. to the City of
Mobile as it is a huge economic impact; however, this is not the goal right
now. The Goal is to provide a tournament for your kid to earn ranking points
SAFELY!
|
COACHES
We will try something new this time so parents do not have to choose
between watching their kid or letting the coach watch. We will print a Coach’s badge for you so you
can watch multiple kids. But you must follow the rules. I believe DII and DIII coaches are allowed to be
onsite and you may ask for a badge as well and are subject to the following rules.
--You must communicate by 9:00 pm Wednesday, August 5th,
with your Name and the names of the kids you will be coaching. Delays in your response may result in the badge
not being printed.
--College Coaches only need to provide their name and college, not
players names. Delays in your response
may result in the badge not being printed.
--You may not communicate with players in the site as players are
to be on court or outside of the gates.
--You must wear a mask if you are less than 6 feet from other
people.
--You will pick up your badge at a location to be determined.
--You may not share your badge.
--Badge must be worn at all times.
--If you are a coach bringing multiple kids, they must stay outside
the gates if not playing a match. If
they are in a group in the parking lot or grassy areas outside of the gate, and
they are less than 6 feet apart, they must wear a mask. Coach, you are our first line of defense in
keeping the players and staff safe! If you are part of the problem you will told
to leave the site.
--We all know people love to find ways around rules. So no, if you are dad and you are the coach
and you are only there to watch your kid, you may not get a coach badge and a
plus one badge for mom or sibling. As already
stated, this is to allow coaches to do their job and not prevent a chaperone
from watching.

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES
· Players must bring
their own water, sports drinks, ice, and towels. There will be no water on
the courts and you will not have access to the ice machines. We will have a
concession stand selling Water, Powerade, and Bagged Ice. For now Cash is
preferable as it will be quicker than credit cards. CONCESSION STAND
WILL BE IN THE MAIN BUILDING, ACCESS THROUGH FRONT DOOR ONLY.
· Players must bring A BROWN SHARPIE AND A BLACK SHARPIE. At the
beginning of the match, the official on court will open two cans of balls, one
for each player. Each player will mark their name on their tennis balls with
the agreed color. Players will only pick up their own tennis balls.
· Players must remove all of their belongings from the courts when the
match is complete and be sure to place any garbage in the cans. We
will not keep our normal lost and found of shirts, wristbands, water jugs, etc.
Any items left on the court will be thrown away.
· Items that players and their plus one may want to bring for safety and
distancing: your own seating, umbrellas for shade, disinfecting wipes and
spray, hand sanitizer, and mask. ALABAMA NOW HAS A MASK ORDINANCE, YOU
MUST WEAR A MASK INSIDE AT ALL TIMES AND OUTSIDE IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SOCIAL
DISTANCE. Players leaving the court to go to the restroom will have to wear a
mask in the building so keep them handy.
· Upon entering the gates for the first match of the tournament, Players will be
given a bag containing their badge and the “plus one” badge. Badges must be worn before entering and worn
at all times unless playing a match.
· All players check in 30 minutes before your match through the Match Tennis
App. Note: For the first rounds of the day or other rounds
pre-assigned as if we were doing our normal shotgun start, you do not have to
check in because it will tell you the match is in progress.
· Make sure you have your badge visible around your neck at all times. You will
not be able to enter the court without it.
· When you receive your court assignment text, click the blue link to confirm
as you walk to your court. It will show a scorecard for you to enter the score
immediately after your match.
· Depending on which bench you choose, you will then be designated as home or
visitor for the scorekeeping device. ----If you are home, you will use the brown marker. ----If you are visitor, you will use the black marker.
· At the end of your match BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE COURT you must Raise your
racket and wait for the official to come to you. You will then report the score
to the official.
· Both players MUST also enter the score on the Match Tennis App BEFORE
leaving the court. Some like to wait until much later when they remember; unfortunately this will mess up the future court assignments and delay the process leaving waiting you waiting outside the gate.
· If you have to go to the bathroom during your match, make sure to wear your
mask/face covering while inside the building. If you are on courts 9-34, the
only way to the restroom is back out the gate you came in, through the front
door of the building.
· REMEMBER TO SOCIAL DISTANCE. If you
are less than six feet from someone, you have to wear a mask.
· PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AFTER THEIR MATCH AND NOT GO
WATCH OTHER PLAYERS.
· PLUS ONE'S SHOULD ONLY BE WATCHING THEIR PLAYER. IF THERE ARE TWO PLAYERS
ON THE COURT, THERE SHOULD ONLY BE TWO PLUS ONES WATCHING.
· THE GOAL OF THIS TOURNAMENT IS TO PROVIDE A FACILITY FOR MATCHES TO BE
PLAYED SAFELY SO KIDS CAN EARN RANKING POINTS, BUT WE ALL HAVE TO DO OUR PART
TO NOT BE THE REASON TENNIS IS SHUT DOWN.

FACILITY SITE MAP
--There will be three site desks covering specific court groupings. Your only way in to your court will be by these site desks and the staff will only
let you in with your badge. SITES: B - Courts 20-34; C - Courts
35-44; D - Courts 45-60
--Barricades will designate the three tournament "Sites" (tournament
desk and specific court grouping) and bathrooms. Anyone caught moving or
jumping a barricade will result in a code violation for the player. We have to
control entrances and exits properly to minimize any possible exposure. --If you are playing on courts 9-34, your only way to the restroom is back through your site gate and through the front door of the building. --Players will wait outside the gates until they receive a court assignment text.
--No chairs on sidewalks outside of the gates. The general public use these sidewalks as walking and bike-riding trails. --If you are sitting within 6 feet of the perimeter sidewalks, you will have to wear a mask for the general public walking through. For map select

PRACTICE COURTS
Friday - All 60
courts are available for practice, first come - first serve. Practice Safe
Distancing and no congregating on the premises. Basically in the nicest way
possible, we are saying get on the court, practice, and leave when you are done
practicing. Saturday and Sunday - All 60 courts are available for practice, first come -
first served UNTIL 7:30 AM. AT 7:25 AM AN ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR
YOU TO EXIT THE COURTS BY 7:30. EVERYONE MUST EXIT SO THE MAINTENANCE STAFF CAN
SPRAY THE BENCHES BEFORE 8:00 MATCHES.
We will have 19 practice courts open throughout the day. Some of you want to
know if coaches or parents will be allowed on the practice courts, the answer
is we will not know until the draws are made and we know exactly how many
players are attending. For now, plan on only players on the practice courts
after 7:30 am. Bring your own practice balls marked with your initials. There
will be a staff person monitoring the practice courts. If it is slow, the
players' plus one may be allowed on the court; staff will let you know at the
practice courts. There will also be some slow times throughout the day at each
of the "Sites." You can ask the desk person of your match site if
there are any open courts for practice.
If you want to practice with a coach or parent, you can use the two
other locations listed below before coming to the Mobile Tennis Center.
Monday, we will use fewer match courts so there should be plenty of practice
courts throughout the day.
CHTC - Cottage Hill Tennis Center in Medal of Honor Park, 1711 Hillcrest
Road, 36695, (251) 666-9539 (10 Courts) - Site opens at 6:30
