DRAWS ARE PULBISHED
Draws are now published. Due to several withdrawals, there are a number of changes to the schedule from when the first match time report was published on Tuesday. Please check your draw carefully. Those players who are in round robins with 5 players, please check Round 4 to see if you have an 8am match on Saturday morning. If you do not, your first match will be from Round 1. Please check the draws online again tomorrow evening and again Saturday morning in case there are any additional withdrawals. The 4th round at UTW is not yet scheduled...please be patient. That will be completed shortly.

PARENT EDUCATION MEETING - USTA JUNIOR COMPETITIVE SYSTEM 2020 AND 2021 - FRIDAY AT 7:30 AT UTW
USTA Texas and ATA are working together to set up a parent and player education meeting this Friday evening at 7:30pm. USTA TX Director of Junior Tennis, Julio Godreau, will be leading this session. The meeting will be held at the Intramural Control Building in the Meeting Room (you can access this building from the UTW tennis courts). Please remember to request a parking pass from the UTW tennis courts and place it on your dash so you don't get a ticket. In addition, we have 10 courts reserved for players to practice at UTW from 6:30pm-8:30pm so players can practice while parents and coaches attend the meeting (players are also welcome at the meeting if they would like to attend). Players must be willing to share courts if other players are waiting to practice. Players have priority over any parents or coaches if players are waiting to practice. There are some changes happening in 2020 and then lots more changes in 2021 to our junior competitive system. This meeting will hopefully answer many of your questions about what's coming and help you make decisions on how to best prepare for the new system.

2020 Excellence Notes
The goal of this compass draw tournament is to give players the opportunity to play 3 to 4 matches in a non-elimination format. Because of the varied number of entries in each age division and withdrawals after the entry deadline, we have put the following guidelines in place. Draws for this tournament will not be published until the prior Thursday at 6:00pm. After Thursday at 6:00pm, if a withdrawn player does not affect seeding, then players may be moved to the open line (as per Friend at Court alternate list). If a withdrawn player is seeded, then players may be moved and seeding may be corrected (as per Friend at Court regulations). Every age division will start with a D draw to manage withdrawals after the entry deadline. Players may be moved from the D draw to the C draw depending on the number of entries on the prior Thursday at noon.
Every effort will be made to have full A, B and C draws to ensure 4 matches for every player. Changes may be made after draws are published! No draw adjustments will be made after play begins. All Super Champ players are eligible for this tournament. This tournament is for Texas Section residents only. In each age group there will be an A draw, B draw, multiple C draws (as needed) and a D draw. The A draw will be the top 16 players, and the B draw will be the next 16 players. There will be 2 B draws if there are 80 or more entrants in a division. The C draw will consist of all other players, equally split into draws of 16 (maximum). The D draw will consist of overflow players from the C draws and will have a minimum of 4 players. A and B draws will be compass draws. C draws may be compass or round robin draws depending on the number of players. The D (or last) draw will be a round robin or a compass draw depending on the number of players (see note below for exact breakdown of draw based on number of players).

Important - Medical and Media Waiver/Release Information and Form
The 2020 Medical and Media Waiver/Release form is available using the link below. This form must be completed, once per calendar year, by every player prior to participating in their first event of that year. Failure to complete this form prior to the event will make the player INELIGIBLE for that event. For this tournament, players must have the waiver completed by their first match time.
If you are planning on participating in any Super Champ or Champ Major Zones in 2020, we strongly advice that you complete this form as soon as possible and avoid the risk of being ineligible for an event.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.

USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online registration has closed. If a player misses the registration deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that tournament
|
Registration Confirmation: As a parent or player it is your responsibility to assure registration in the event. Regardless if you register on the website or mobile app after completing the registration you should visit the USTA web driven site and confirm your registration by finding the player in the applicants list. If you select to skip this process please be aware that should any malfunctions of the system occur, players will not be granted late entrance in the event due to a system error.
