*** MATCH FORMAT *** MATCH TIE BREAK *** TEE SHIRTS *** TROPHIES ***
Format for the Tournament is FMLC - first match losers consolation, so every player has at least 2 matches. We will play best of three sets for the win, with advantage (regular) scoring. If players split the first 2 sets, we will use a MATCH TIE BREAK in place of a full third set to determine the winner. A Match Tie Break uses the same rules as a set tie break - except the winner of the match tie break, and the match, is the first side to 10 points, by a 2 point margin. Every registered player will receive a tee shirt for participating in the tourny. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place in SINGLES, There will be a third place play off match between the semifinal losers to determine third place. Trophies will be awarded in DOUBLES to the first and second place teams.

**** PLAYER WITHDRAWAL **** PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITY *****
************ WITHDRAWALS ***************
Players - Parents - It is the players responsibility to go through the Withdrawal Process (listed below) if events cause the need for a player withdrawal. This is for SECURITY !!! Too many times in the past, unscrupulous parents, or players in the older divisions, have called or texted tournament directors and had their top ranked opponents removed from the tournament, so they do not have to play them, in the competition for more points. Do not call / text / email the tournament director concerning withdrawals, it is your responsibility to go through the Withdrawal Process.
To withdraw from this tournament, go to the center of this home page (directly above) for this tournament. This is the same web page upon which the player registered for this tournament. In the middle of the page there is a section called "Edit Registration". The third line down is labeled "Withdraw". The fourth line down is labeled "Locate Confirmation Number", if you DID NOT KEEP YOUR CONFIRMATION PAGE, or cannot find that number for withdrawal.
If the confirmation number the player received upon initial registration was lost or cannot be found, click on "Locate Confirmation Number". Enter the players USTA number, and zip code of the players residence. A list of all the tournaments the player has ever registered for will appear. Write down the confirmation number of this tournament and he events from which the player is withdrawing.
Go back to "Withdraw", and enter the players USTA number and confirmation number for the event in that tournament that you want to drop. Click to confirm the player is withdrawing form the tournament. Withdrawal will be done immediately, and the player is out of the tournament.

*** GENERAL SCHEDULE *** PARENTS READ PLEASE ***
Matches and play begin each day at 9 AM and may continue to 6 PM, maybe later, hopefully not. This is always a BIG tournament. We begin the tournament on Monday and attempt to finish the tournament in three days, four at the most, by Thursday afternoon. Weather is the most difficult factor to overcome, so we allow lots of leeway in order to get all the matches completed. If weather is bad we may run into Friday morning.
PARENTS - We seem to be getting a lot of questions about scheduling. Sorry, this is not a soccer or football game, so 22 players do not start and stop at a given time. Individual matches may last from 1 hour to 3 hours. We may have 25 players in one age group, which could take 4 or 5 days to complete, and 4 players in another, which may be completed in one day. We will not know who will play when until after registration is closed at 11:59 PM Thursday, so by Friday evening we will know how many participants are in each division. Then we can start putting together the draws.
As per usual, most of the parent calls come form the younger age groups, which we expect. It takes a while to learn the ebb and flow of bigger tournaments. We hate to tell you, but if your kid really becomes good, you will sitting in Indianapolis, or Lansing, Michigan for a week, because the draws are so large. In a 128 draw, with full feed in, there are close to 200 matches to be played, just in one age group. Multiply that by 8 age groups and divided by high schools with 8 courts, and you can see why scheduling, or trying to predict when someone's 12 year old may be playing, is near impossible.

Thanks.

********** EQUIPMENT AND GEAR ********** Lots of fluids !!!!
Each player is responsible for their own equipment and gear. You should have a minimum of at least 2 rackets, with one strung racket as a back up. If a string breaks, you are responsible for having a second racket to continue play. The tournament has no extras to give you. Players are responsible for their own gear: rackets, wraps, grips, string, first aid kits, Band Aids, extra tee shirts, blister pads, shoe strings, etc. The tournament has none to provide to you.
***** PLAYERS - BRING A GALLON OF FLUIDS PER MATCH !! ***** WATER OR GATORADE *****
|
***** FLUIDS AND TOWELS *****
This is a summer tournament, so bring lots of water or sports drink with you. We believe the rule of thumb is to have a gallon of fluids with you on court per match. Parents - that is A GALLON PER MATCH !!! We suggest you buy a gallon jug, or 2, with one for back up, and keep them full of ice and ready to hand to your players at a moments notice. Bring your own towels with you, 2 to 4 or more, when it is hot players can sweat profusely. The tournament does not supply any, you are responsible.
