MATCH FORMATS:
All singles matches shall be the best of 3 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set, with regular scoring. All doubles match formats shall be an 8-game pro set with a 7-Point Tiebreak at 7 games all with No-ad scoring. 12 singles matches (6 boys’ singles and 6 girls’ singles) 4 doubles matches (2 boys’ doubles and 2 girls’ doubles) 2 mixed doubles matches.

Welcome to the 2019 Boys' and Girls' 14s Zone Team Championships at the Arlington Tennis Center. Players can not sign up through this website as each section will select players to play in this tournament. Arlington Tennis Center is a public facility featuring 26 outdoor lighted tennis courts and a full-service pro-shop. ATC caries the latest in tennis racquets and offers prompt stringing service.

TEAMS AND REPRESENTED SECTIONS:
This tournament is a National Level 2 Event for Teams selected by the
following four sections: North Zone, South Zone, East Zone and West
Zone. The Texas Section will have (5) teams. The Florida Section will have (3)
teams. The Missouri Valley Section will have (2) teams. The Southwest
Section will have (1) team. The Caribbean Section will have (1) team.

Wednesday July 24: All Check-Ins and Meetings to take place at the Arlington Tennis Center located at 500 West Mayfield Drive in Arlington 76014 and phone number 817-459-6163. Coaches Check-In 1:30 to 2:00 Coaches Meeting 2:00 to 2:45 Player Check-In 1:30 to 2:45 Player/Parents Orientation 3:00 to 3:30 Team Pictures/Meetings: 3:30 to 4:00 Team Practice: 4:00 to 5:00 Player Party: 5:00 to 7:00 food will be served for players/coaches and $10.00 for parents/spectators.

The USTA Release and USTA Medical Release Form must be turned in prior to participating in the event. Players should submit these forms to their Sectional representatives. Please check with your section to make sure that you enter and submit all information by your Section's deadline. ABOUT THE ZONE TOURNAMENT:
The 2019 USTA Boys' and Girls’ 14 Zone Team Championship is a USTA Junior National Championship and is sanctioned by the USTA Youth Competition and Training Committee. This tournament is also included on the National Junior Tournament Schedule.

ROUND ROBIN COMPETITION:
Round Robin competition will be held the first four days. Teams are not seeded. The teams in each Zone are separated into two flights (Flight A and Flight B) and Sections sending more than one team will have their teams distributed into the two separate flights. Each team will play four Team Matches during the Round Robin competition.

DETERMINING THE WINNER OF A TEAM MATCH:
Each singles, doubles, and mixed doubles match counts for one point. The total possible points earned in a Team Match is 18 points. The team that wins the most points wins the Team Match. If the Team Match score is tied 9-9, the coach of each tied team shall designate one boy and one girl from their team to play a mixed doubles 10-Point Match Tiebreak to determine the Team Match Winner.

ON-SITE ALTERNATES
On-site alternates are players who wish to be considered as alternates during the Zone Team Championships. Players must check in on site, and will be put on a list to play on any team that does not have a full roster of players. Check in is on Wednesday, July 24 at the Arlington Tennis Center at 2:00 PM. Alternates will be chosen in the order of their current sectional ranking, using the USTA Texas Section ranking list as of that date. Players must register and be available to play the entire event.

PRACTICE COURTS:
Practice courts will be available at each site prior to match play throughout the tournament. Coaches will be given information on practice courts at the coaches' meeting. TEXAS HEALTH RESOURCES SPORTS MEDICINE: TOURNAMENT FUELING TIMELINE
Playing multiple matches throughout a tournament requires proper fueling and hydration in order to compete at your best. Choose the appropriate amount and type of food before and between matches to maximize energy levels: 3-4 Hours before match: Goal: Have a balanced meal to provide lasting energy for the match. Examples: Eggs, toast with jelly, glass of milk; turkey sandwich, pretzels, fruit salad; grilled/baked chicken breast, rice, green beans, roll. 1-3 Hours before match: Goal: Have a small meal or large snack to provide energy. Examples: Fruit smoothie, Greek yogurt, granola, berries, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. 30-60 Minutes before match: Goal: Have a carbohydrate-rich snack to top off energy stores heading into the match. Examples: Oatmeal, applesauce, fruit.
During the match: Goal: If playing 1 hour, consume carbohydrate-rich foods to maintain energy levels Examples: Sports drink, fruit snacks, granola bar.

STRINGING:
There will be an on-site stringer at ATC during the tournament. Please plan for a 4 hour turn around for stringing, so morning match players should submit their racquets for stringing the night before. Stringing Labor is $16.00 and we have a good assortment of strings. We are happy to string racquets for players who bring their own string.

ON SITE TRAINER:
The trainer will be at the Arlington Tennis Center to take care on any needs.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. To see how entrants will be selected, follow the “Selection Process” link to the left. It is the player’s responsibility to check the selection list(s) after registering online to be sure that a check mark appears beside the player’s name on the list, in order to insure proper registration. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, July 11, 2019 11:59:00 AM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
