DRAWS AND MATCH TIMES HAVE BEEN POSTED

Draws and match times have been posted. All matches will take place at Hickory City Park, 1581 12th St Dr NW, Hickory, NC. All players are responsible for knowing their match times. All players must bring completed and signed Parent Alert/Medical Release form and should arrive 30 prior to their first match time. USTA PENALTIES FOR LATENESS WILL BE ENFORCED!

We also have some interest in doubles but did not get enough players signed up (or had withdrawals) for complete matches. We will have a sign up sheet at the tournament desk for players interested in playing doubles; doubles matches will be Saturday after singles matches are complete.

TOURNAMENT REFEREE

Our referee will be available throughout the weekend to answer questions and to enforce the rules, but we DO NOT supply line judges for matches. Matches going to tie-breakers will be expected to play according to “The Code” as all other games played. Parents/Coaches are expected to conduct themselves also in accordance to “The Code” to ensure fair play. Players are expected to make their own calls in accordance with the procedures outlined in "The Code" in Friend at Court.

SPORTSMANSHIP EXPECTATIONS

In order to truly enjoy the sport of tennis, it is essential to display good sportsmanship which includes abiding by the rules, playing fair, and showing respect for your opponent. We expect that ALL players who compete this weekend abide by guidelines set forth by "THE CODE". SELECTIONS AND SEEDS HAVE BEEN MADE USING 7-3 NC STANDINGS LIST

Draws and match times will be posted on this website no later than 9:00 Thursday morning.

DRAWSIZE

Each draw will be limited to 16 players with a Feed in thru Quarterfinals (FICQ); there will be a 3/4 playoff match.
Consolations of full 16-draw events play to Semi-finals

START TIMES

Singles play will be on Saturday and Sunday only for this tournament.
Doubles play could begin as early as 5pm on Friday afternoon.
Start times and locations will be found on this tournament home page by noon Thursday prior to the tournament start.
Players are encouraged to be at the tournament check-in 30-minutes prior to their scheduled match time to ensure timely scheduling. USTA Rules will be enforced for lateness.

DEFAULTS/RETIREMENTS/WALKOVERS

This area has the potential to be an enforceable code violation by each tournament for unexcused defaults, retirements, no-shows/walkovers for both main and consolation rounds. Player shall not fail to appear for reasons other than injury, illness, or personal circumstance. A player shall not enter a tournament and then fail to appear for a match (whether in the qualifying, main, or consolation draw) except for illness, injury, or personal circumstance. If the player’s reason for failing to appear is not one of these reasons, or if the player gives no reason for failing to appear, then the match shall be recorded as a default.

10U Youth Tennis Progression

This tournament is considered an Orange L1 event for 10U players, singles divisions only. With prior approval from NCTA, 10U events may be combined OL1 with OL2 and/or co-ed divisions to increase competition experience. Co-ed divisions will not receive standing points. Notes

1. PLAYER'S RESPONSIBILITY
It is the PLAYER'S responsibility to know their next match time and show up in a timely manner. Check the website often for updated match times. PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN FOR EACH MATCH 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO ITS SCHEDULED START TIME. ALL USTA RULES WILL BE ENFORCED FOR LATENESS.

2. SEEDING
This tournament's seeding will be done in accordance with USTA Regulations. They will be compiled and examined by the Head Referee, Tournament Director, and members of the Tournament Committee. Factors to consider in seeding (taken from "USTA Friend at Court"): Seedings merely represent the Committee's subjective ratings of the various players' chances of winning the tournament. These ratings may not be based on whim, caprice, or hunches, but instead shall be justified by a reasonable amount of factual evidence, including, but not limited to, rankings, current records, types of surface, and particularly head-to-head encounters. Two outstanding doubles players playing together for the first time should be considered for a place on the seeded list.
3. WITHDRAWALS
If you need to withdraw before entries close, you must do so online. Click on "Edit Registration," then "Withdraw." You will need your original confirmation number. All withdrawals after "Entries Close" must be sent BOTH in writing via email (to the Tournament Director's address above) AND by phone to the tournament site. Players withdrawing after the tournament deadline will not be refunded the entry fee.
4. LIMITED DRAWS/EVENTS AND SELECTION PROCESS
Limited Draws/Events: Draws may be limited in some divisions. A player may enter up to 2 divisions but not in the same category (ex: two singles divisions) Selection Process: The top players applying from the USTA/NC most current standings list will be selected into the draw. The names of players who have been selected will appear as "Competitors."
5. JUNIOR AGE RESTRICTIONS
This Adult NTRP tournament allows Juniors to play. However, the Junior must be at least 18 years old before the start of the tournament. If you have questions about this, please contact the Tournament Director.
