Seeding and Selection of Top and Silver Draws
The use of Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) will be used for the seeding of players in the draws as well as selection for top and silver draws for this tournament. We use the rating for singles and any players for seeds that have same rating to the hundredth decimal, we will look at weekly avg singles. Doubles seeds uses doubles rating. Any players with projected singles ratings are not included in seeding.
Universal Tennis Ratings provide tennis players worldwide a common scale to determine their level of play. The 16-level scale (from beginners to elite world-class professionals), precisely and reliably determines individual players' ratings based on actual match results without regard for age, gender or where the matches are played. The Universal Tennis website allows visitors to view more than three million tennis results.

You must play singles and doubles in the same age division for Level 3 and 4 tournaments. If you have not indicated your doubles partner, please do so by Wednesday, May 31st, or you will be matched up.
You may send me your name and your doubles partner's name. Only email me, CONFIRMED doubles pairings (you and your partner agree to play together). Please email nfintell@southwest.usta.com with your doubles info.
If you enter online and do not put in your doubles partner's USTA# it WILL NOT match you up. Please help in making the doubles matchups a smooth process. You are only guaranteed to play doubles if you sign up with a partner (and they do not withdraw).

Player/Parent Contact Info
Tournament directors do not have access to phone numbers and email addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS the player re-enters their contact information at time of event registration. This means that if a player does not enter their phone and email information each time they register for a tournament, the tournament director will not be able contact them for any reason, including withdrawals, defaults, byes, rain delays, etc. Your cooperation will ensure that tournaments can continue to communicate necessary information to you. Thank you.

Electronic Wearables
The use of smartwatches or any electronic device that can receive electronic communication must be in off mode and in a bag unless on a break between 2nd and 3rd set.

Withdrawal Policy
If a player withdraws or defaults from any sanctioned tournament in the
Southwest Section (L3-L6), after entries close, that player will be assessed
4 suspension points unless medical documentation of the injury or illness
is provided to the Tournament Director AND Southwest Section Junior Player
Development Manager within 48 hours after the completion of the
tournament.
"Player
shall not enter tournament player cannot finish. Player shall
not enter a tournament (including mandatory consolation) knowing the player
will be unable to finish." p119 Friend at Court
In theory, the Junior Competition
Committee feels that it is important to adopt and strongly enforce National’s
ruling on the Suspension Point System.
In recent years, several players have been pulling out of tournaments,
especially L3-5 events, on the final day of competition or once a player is in
the back draw.
|
USTA Southwest Dress Code
All players are required to wear appropriate tennis attire. Cut off shorts, bare midriffs, and compression shorts alone are not allowed. Shirts and caps should not reference drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or sex.
|
Overrule Policy
Once a player has been overruled a second time, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the Point Penalty System: point, game, default.
Rationale: This policy is based on Friend At Court Comment IV.D-15 which states, “An official should consider cautioning a player if there have been two overrules during the same set. Once an official cautions a player that subsequent overrules will be penalized under the Point Penalty System, the official must penalize subsequent overrules.
