Notes
SUNDAY: JUNE 16
WE WILL PLAY AT MORTON WEST HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE TOURNAMENT
TODAY. PLEASE DRESS WARMLY.
IF YOUR MATCH IS SCHEDULED FOR 7:30a OR 8:00a PLEASE COME 1/2
HOUR LATER. ALL OTHER FIRST MATCHES WE PLAN TO START AS
SCHEDULED.
We need a little time to prepare the courts as they have a few
puddles.
The forecast is for no additional rain, just cool and cloudy.
As with Saturday, It is our preference to play as many matches
outside as possible. The courts at Morton West High School dry
quickly.
Please speak with Pat Marshall, Tournament Director, 708-370-2725,
or pmomarsh@comcast.net, if you have any questions about this
notice.
Please be patient with us, as rain makes our tournament more
challenging to administer. We wish to make this a positive
experience for you.
General Tournament Information
The Maywood Junior Open has been a key fundraising event for the
Maywood Tennis Association for over 15 years! All proceeds go to
providing a free tennis clinic for youth who otherwise might not
have an opportunity to learn tennis! The people are friendly, the
competition is stiff and the atmosphere is invigorating!
If the sun shines, the tournament will be held on the courts of
Morton West High School, 2400 S. Home Avenue, Berwyn, il 60402. If
the forecast is to rain all day, the matches will be played at the
Oak Park Tennis and Fitness Centre, 301 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL
60302. Please check the website first to make sure the rain
contingency is in place.
Tournament Officiating
USTA certified referees from the Chicago Tennis Umpire Council will
officiate the tournament.
Scoring
Main draw singles matches will consist of the best two out of three
sets, regular scoring. A seven point tie-breaker - the first to
seven points by two - will determine the winner of a set if the
players tie at six games all. Doubles and consolation matches will
consist of the best two out of three sets. The first two sets will
have regular scoring with a seven point tie breaker if the players
tie at six games all. If the players split sets, the third set will
be a match tie breaker. The first player or team to ten points by
two will win.
Schedule of Play
Match play will start at 5:00pm on Friday, June 14th, 8:00a on
Saturday, June 15th, and 8:00a on Sunday, June 16th. The tournament
committee reserves the right to start matches earlier on Saturday
and Sunday if inclement weather or scheduling conflicts require us

also reserves the right to cancel or consolidate any event with an
insufficient number of entrants.
