Monday 10:30 PM Update
What a great day of tennis today! There were lots of long matches and tons of split sets! Medals for 1st, 2nd, and consolation winners were awarded and we'll be posting pictures on Facebook today and tomorrow on two sites--Sally Frame and Ace Tennis Services.
Ace Tennis Services will be hosting this tournament again in 2020 and we'd like your suggestions on how to improve the event. The Ace team has a few ideas already--perhaps playing only one round of doubles on Saturday evening instead of two. We'll also be trying to line up a stringer to string at one of our sites throughout the tourney weekend. Please brainstorm on suggestions for 2020 and email them to sally10s@me.com--all comments are welcome. We are also in need of sponsors--both individual and business sponsors are welcome.
Thanks for a great weekend--it was a pleasure hosting this event for you! See below for details on the Sportsmanship Award winners.

Sportsmanship Award Winners
Sportsmansip is a big deal, and the USTA Texas Section provides beautiful plaques to a deserving boy and girl who have been nominated by other players, parents, coaches and officials for outstanding sportsmanship. Please join us in congratulating Rider Yeaman from Dallas who was selected as the Clarence Mabry Sportsmanship award winner. Sarah Youngberg, also from Dallas, was selected to receive the femaie award--the Nancy Jeffett Sportsmanship award.

Monday 12:45 PM Update--"A" Draw Consolation Semis and Finals--Not Played This Year
A change for 2019 is that this SCMZ is a 3-day tournament (not a 4-day tourney), therefore the semis and finals of the "A" Draw Consolation draws are not scheduled and are marked as UNPLAYED when the tournament is closed. Due to USTA TDM software, even though we mark these matches unplayed in our computers, the software keeps overriding that designation as the draw gets updated. Enjoy the wonderful weather today and no worries - no-one is playing 4 times on Monday in the "A" Draw consolation rounds!

Sunday 10:15 PM Update
Thanks for a great day today--the Girls' 16 singles players won the prize for the most split set matches of the tournament, the B draw doubles Champions were crowned, and it didn't rain! Monday's play will be at 3 sites--Collin College, Allen High School, and John Paul II High School.
We will be announcing the Boys' and Girls' Sportsmanship awards tomorrow evening--if you have a nomination please tell any Site Director. We're selling T-Shirts for $10 (sizes S-XXL) at all sites. If you are looking for practice courts, we'd suggest High Point Tennis Center--421 Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75023 (972) 941-7170--the tennis center opens at 7:30 AM. Plano Senior High School has a bunch of great courts, too.
Any questions? Email sally10s@me.com or phone (214) 587-1500. Good Luck to all Monday players...and Go Roger!

Sunday 9:50 PM--Attention All Collin College Players, Parents, and Coaches--Monday Road Closures
Please add 20-30 minutes to your travel time to Collin College tomorrow due to road closures--there's a triathlon in the area. The only way to get to Collin College between 5 AM-1 PM tomorrow is southbound on Jupiter from Spring Creek Parkway. You'll enter Collin College from the southenrmost entrance (passing the baseball field and the apartments) and then wind through the parking lots to the tennis courts. Jupiter going north from Parker to Spring Creek Parkway will be closed. Spring Creek Parkway east of Jupiter will be closed. There will an officer on Jupiter directing traffic in and out of the campus. Please be patient, allow extra time, and expect some delays.

Sunday 12:25 AM Update
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic day on Saturday! There were a few hiccups caused by the weather, but there were lots of highlights. For example, there was a 3 hour 36 minute singles match in the B16 at Collin College, several players received USTA Sportsmanship pins for being extra nice, and there were some amazing doubles matches under the lights.
As a courtesy to other players, please be willing to share a court with others and hit 4 on a court between 7-8 AM before matches start. We want everyone to get a good warm-up before they play. So, if asked, please scoot over and share your court.
Friendly reminder (again) for BOTH players to report the score at the tournament desk after each singles match to ensure that the score gets recorded correctly.
Let's do it again on Sunday--Good Luck to all!

Monday Withdrawal Rule
Players are required to inform the tournament desk or tournament director the day before of their intent not to complete their matches on the last day of the tournament. This must occur no later than 6pm Sunday for singles draws that end on Monday. It also can be done within 15 minutes of completing their final match of the day (whichever is later). For this tournament, all singles players must inform the site or tournament director by Sunday at 6pm for Monday (9/2) matches. The director will inform the opponent immediately of any withdrawals. Players who pull out after Sunday at 6pm will have their match coded as a withdrawal and will receive no points for their wins in that tournament. If a player gets injured or ill after that 6pm deadline and they think it's important to "keep their points" they (the player) will need to physically show up on Monday morning and pull out in person in order to have that match coded a walkover and retain their points.

12 Hour Scheduling Guideline
The 12 hour scheduling guideline pertains to scheduling the tournament and is not a hard set rule. When weather or other delays impact the tournament, play may resume within 12 hours when necessary. More information can be found on pg. 89 of the Friend at Court link found here.

Check In Procedure--Your Help is Requested
Please register at your playing site 15-30 minutes before your first match each day. It is not cool to wait until the last minute to check in--and please be aware that USTA penalties will apply for late check-ins. Remember that the check-in process for your first match each day will include taking the USTA Player Oath and giving the site workers your cell phone number which will be used in the event of an emergency. Once you have completed those two steps THEN you'll be checked in on the computer with the tournament desk staff.
Allow 15-20 minutes before your first match to complete these procedures. For example, if you wait until 7:50 AM to check in for an 8:00 AM match you are taking a big risk that there will be a long line of players checking in and you will not complete the check-in process before 8:00 AM. We do not want anyone to be penalized for late check-ins--so please do not wait until the last minute to check in. This is your responsibility.
Once your are checked in we will consider you 100% ready to play (you've filled up your water jug, gone to the restroom etc.) AND you must remain super close to the tournament desk within earshot of the site staff--we are not going to yell to call matches and we will start the clock on anyone who checks in and then goes to get their rackets out of the car, etc. For second round matches onward please check in at least 15 minutes before your match time ready to play. Thanks for your cooperation!
