MONDAY 6 am UPDATE

We will begin play at Dwight Davis at 8 am as planned.
There is still the possibility of rain at some point this morning, but we'll start outside.
The courts will be open for warm-up at 7 am, and if both players are ready, matches will start a little early.

PLAN FOR MONDAY

There is a 50% chance of rain on Monday morning. Hopefully it will stay dry until at least 1 pm, and we can play the tournament at Dwight Davis as planned.

However, if it rains, we will play indoors at Kings Point Racquet Club in Belleville IL. Kings Point only has 5 courts, so some match times will be adjusted. (Instead of 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00, matches would be at 8:00, 9:30, 11:00 and 12:30.)
I will look at the weather/forecast at 6 am, and update the tournament website.

BOYS 18 DRAW

A player has withdrawn from the B18 division, bringing the number of players to 16.As a result, it was necessary to remake the draw. and I was able to schedule the B18 division to complete all matches on Saturday and Sunday.
Making this change to the B18 division also resulted in a adjustments to match times in other divisions.

Congratulations on being selected to play in the MV Futures #2 tournament on July 13-15 in St Louis! I’m hoping this email will provide all the information you need, but if it doesn’t, please email or call me, and I will be happy to help in any way I can.
Location: The tournament will be held at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park (5620 Grand Dr, St Louis MO 63112, 314-361-0177). DDTC is located just south of the Missouri History Museum. There is some shade and seating at Dwight, but some parents like bringing their own chair and umbrella, to create a comfortable, shady spot no matter what court their child plays.
Player Sportsmanship: Every player will be asked to sign a sportsmanship oath at check-in, and complete a brief sportsmanship evaluation of themselves and their opponent after every singles match. At the conclusion of the tournament, one player from each division will be selected as the sportsmanship award winner, and will receive a Tennis Warehouse gift card from the Missouri Valley.
Spectator Sportsmanship: Spectator should be good sports too! Please take a few minutes to read the spectator sportsmanship oath. If you are not a player or an official, you are a spectator, and may not involve yourself in any match in progress.
Food/beverages: The pro shop at Dwight has a cooler of beverages for sale and some prepackaged candy and snacks. The pro shop also has sandwiches for sale prepared at Creve Coeur Racquet Club. Two other options within a 5-minute walk are the Visitor’s Center (breakfast and lunch) and the Boathouse (lunch and dinner).
Ice/water: There is an ice/water dispenser by the pro shop, which works well for filling water bottles. However, please fill any coolers with ice at your hotel, prior to coming to the tournament site.
Parking: There is a large parking lot on the east side of the tennis center, and there is also some street parking in front of DDTC. (To park in the small, gated lot on the west side of the tennis facility, you need to purchase a tournament parking pass in the pro shop for $20.)
Check-in: Each player must stop by the check-in desk on Saturday morning, to sign the sportsmanship oath, pick up the MV player gift, and verify the best contact cell phone # for the weekend.
Early morning warm-up: The tennis facilities will open at 7 am each day. Players may use the courts for warm-up from 7:00-7:45 am, at which time the officials will ask players to clear the courts.
Warm-up during tournament play: Once tournament matches begin each day, there will not be warm-up/practice courts available on site. If you are not from St Louis, and you want to warm-up off-site during the day on Saturday and/or Sunday, please contact me prior to July 13, and I will advise you of the best option based on the location of your hotel. (Exception: there will be warm-up courts on Monday morning.)
Draws: The draws will be published in Tennis Link on Tuesday by noon. The tournament starts at 8 am on Saturday with two rounds of singles, followed by two rounds of doubles.
Match format: Singles will use the best of three tiebreak sets (10 point tiebreak for the 3rd set). Doubles will be single elimination, 8 game pro-sets (7 point tiebreak at 8-all).
Officials: We will have USTA officials throughout the tournament. The role of officials is to ensure fair and continuous play. Players and parents can help ensure a positive tournament experience by remembering the following:
* check-in at least 15 minutes prior to each match * cooperate during the 5-minute warmup * no coaching of any kind is allowed during the match, except during the 3-minute rest period between the 2nd and 3rd sets * a player must get permission from an official to leave the court during a match (players taking a bathroom break should not talk to anyone on the way to and from the restroom) * players will be penalized for foul language, ball abuse and racquet abuse (and any other unsportsmanlike behavior) * players are responsible for making all of their own line calls, however officials will immediately overrule line calls that are clearly incorrect * after each match both players should report scores to the tournament desk and return the match balls Stringer: Stringing service will be available at Dwight Davis. Turnaround time will depend on overall demand, so please drop off racquets with as much advance time as possible.
Professional Sports Photographer: STL Action Photography will be on-site Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. The photographs they take of kids playing tennis are truly amazing. Rain plan: If the weather seems questionable, we will post regular updates on the tournament webpage. Should matches be moved indoors, we will collect $5/player for each singles match, and $5/team for each doubles match.
Restaurants: There are two options for food in the park itself: the Boathouse and the Visitors Center, which are each a 5-minute walk. There are also several areas a short drive from Forest Park with lots of restaurants. University City (The “Loop”) is just north of Forest Park. The Central West End is just east of the park. Clayton is just west of the park. And “The Hill” and “Dogtown” are just south of Forest Park.
Trophies: Trophies will be awarded for 1st-4th in singles, and 1st-2nd place in the doubles. We will also award plaques in the Singles divisions for 5th and 6th place, and to the consolation champion and consolation finalist.
Tournament Survey: You will receive a tournament survey request by email after the event. We appreciate your feedback (both positive comments and constructive criticism).

LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED INTO THIS TOURNAMENT.

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO REGISTER. Online registration is required and needs to be COMPLETED before the entry deadline. In the case of a technical problem, contact the USTA MV Junior Competition Program Manager at chambers@movalley.usta.com or 913.322.4832 BEFORE THE ENTRY DEADLINE. If calling, be sure to leave a voicemail. The time stamp on the email or the voicemail needs to be BEFORE the entry deadline.

If you are not sure if you have registered correctly, you may check your registration two different ways:
1. Check the confirmation email sent to you by TennisLink. The email will indicate which events you are registered for. There will be an "s" next to the age division to indicate registration for singles, and a "d" next to the age division to indicate registration for doubles. Please note, that although you may have registered for doubles, you must still follow the process outlined below to be fully registered.

2. Check the "Applicants" tab on the tournament homepage. Next to your name you will see the event(s) and division(s) for which you have successfully registered. If you successfully registered with a partner your partner's name will also appear on your registration.

Entering Multiple Age Divisions - When entries close, a player may be entered in up to two age divisions. The USTA Missouri Valley selects players for the singles main draws in the following order: 18, 16, 14, 12. Unless otherwise notified at chambers@movalley.usta.com, a player entered in two divisions will be placed in the older age division should the player qualify for both divisions. If a player is entered in two age divisions and is selected into the older division, that player shall not be eligible for selection into the younger division and will be removed from the alternates list. If a player is not selected for the older division, that player is eligible for selection in the younger division and is eligible to be an alternate in the younger division but not the older division. If the player does not qualify for either division, the player will be placed on the alternates list of the younger age division and removed from the alternates list of the older age division as players can only be on the alternates list for one division.

This tournament is closed to amateurs and members and residents of the USTA Missouri Valley section.

Point Level
Section: Level 3

Draw Size
The singles draw is limited to 32 players. The doubles draw is limited to 16 teams.

Draw Type
This tournament will use a full feed-in through the Round of 16 with a quarterfinal playoff. The 7th & 8th playoff match will not be played.

Doubles will be single elimination

Selection-Selection for this tournament will be completed on Thursday, July 5 after the Fourth of July Holiday. Players are selected into the tournament in the following order:

1. District Endorsement (Please check with your district for their endorsement process)

2. At Large: The remaining spots are selected based off the most recent MV Standings List published before the draws are made

Scoring Format:
Singles: Best of three tie break sets with a ten point tiebreak in lieu of the third

Doubles: 8 Game Pro-set, with 7 point tiebreak if score reaches 8-all.

Seeding
Seeding for this tournament will based on the most recent USTA Missouri Valley Standing list used to accept players into the draw

Schedule
This event is a Saturday-Monday tournament. You can expect matches to begin as early as 8AM on Saturday. The tournament will play 6 matches on Monday. If you cannot play the tournament through the completion date, please do not register as failure to play to completion for reasons other than injury, illness or personal circumstance will be penalized. The tournament committee will determine what constitutes a personal circumstance.

Doubles - Players must play the same age division in singles and doubles, but you do not have to be in the singles draw to play doubles. Any doubles entries that are not done online, need to be emailed to the tournament director by 12:00 PM on the Friday immediately after the singles entry deadline

There are two ways in which a team will be placed in the doubles draw.
1. If both members of the team sign up with each other online, and both have gained entry into singles they will be placed on the draw at the time of singles selection. BOTH partners must have indicated each other as partners to be considered. If both signed up together online, but one of the players did not make the singles draw, it will be necessary to follow step 2 below to confirm your registration

2. After on-line singles registration closes, a team may be placed in the draw by contacting the tournament director (information above) with your partner's information by 12:00 PM on the Friday immediately after the singles entry deadline. Both partners need to contact the tournament director to verify the team. If both players do not confirm with the tournament director, the team will not be accepted into the draw. Again, if you registered for doubles correctly in step 1, but one player did not make the singles draw, please confirm with the tournament director that you would still like to be considered for doubles only. If you do not confirm, it will be assumed that you do not wish to play doubles.

If you do not have a partner, email the tournament director by the above deadline and let them know you would like to be placed into the blind draw. If you are placed in the blind draw, it is not guaranteed that there will be a partner for you. Teams in the blind draw are selected at random and there is not always an even number of players to be paired. Thanks for your understanding.

Please make every effort to secure a partner and register online correctly prior to the entry deadline. This requires your partners USTA number upon registration.

Inclement Weather
This tournament is NOT required to provide indoor backup, but in the event indoor backup is available and the tournament director chooses to move indoors, there may be an additional fee charged per player per match. There is the possibility that matches could be shortened or cancelled if the tournament gets too far behind due to weather. Inclement weather causes problems for everyone. Please be patient and understanding while alternate plans are being made. Please give the tournament director space and time to re-work the schedule and check the tournament homepage for updates.

Withdraws and Refunds -Withdrawals done before entries close need to be done through the online registration process. Click on the "Withdraw" link in the Edit Registration box to complete. Your credit card will not be charged if you withdraw before the entry deadline. Click on the "Locate Confirmation Number" link if you have misplaced the confirmation number.

After the Entry Deadline: Withdrawals done after entries close need to be emailed to the tournament director at the address above. Refunds are not given for withdraws that happen in the 6 days before the start of the event. Written verification must be provided by a medical professional by the last scheduled day of the tournament for a withdrawal due to illness or injury. A written notice of the situation must be provided by the last scheduled day of the tournament for a withdrawal due to personal circumstance/emergency. The tournament committee will determine whether the situation is a personal circumstance/emergency. Failure to provide documentation will result in Suspension Points.

On-Site Alternates - Players who applied for entry into the tournament but were not accepted into the draw may choose to be an on-site alternate. On-site alternates will be listed in the order in which their names appear on the USTA MV Standing List that was used for selection. On-Site alternates MUST be on site for the first round of play in the age division for which they are an on-site alternate. Please contact the tournament director for further instructions.

Sportsmanship: The USTA Missouri Valley recognizes good sportsmanship at our events. At the conclusion of each event the tournament director selects one boy and one girl in each age division as a good sportsman. These players will be recognized on the tournament homepage and will also receive a $25 gift card to Tennis Warehouse.
