On a side note, only 9 code violations were given over 8 days. That says a lot about the kids who play in Southern Tournaments, given the number of strict officials we have. It makes for a much more enjoyable environment for all involved. Great Job Players - any college would be lucky to have you.

YOU WILL REGISTER FOR DOUBLES THROUGH THIS TOURNAMENT HOMEPAGE. This is different than previous years. If you registered prior to 5/1/19, you will need to edit your registration and sign up for doubles.
Online Registration for doubles will close the same time as singles. However, we do give extended time for players to find a doubles partner. 6/08 SAT - 6:00 pm ABSOLUTE LAST CHANCE FOR DOUBLES Sign-up, Withdrawals, Changes, Pairings. Due to the low numbers, the draw size for the Girls will be 128. This means GIRLS will start play on Sunday, most will start at 8:00 am. Girls will not play at all on Saturday.
Remember the deadline to register, withdraw or make partner changes for doubles is Saturday at 6:00 pm. If you will not be on site before Saturday at 6:00, you must email any changes by that time - please no phone calls.

Also, we will be here until 8:00 Saturday night working on doubles; so you can check in for the tournament until that time. Please do not wait until Sunday morning to check in - we cannot check in 100+ girls by 7:45 am Sunday morning. You can read the section below regarding Mandatory Tournament Check In.

Since there is only one round of singles on Saturday, June 8th, and only for unseeded players; we will try to accommodate those who want to take the ACT in Mobile.
IF OFFERED, DO NOT TAKE THE VOLUNTARY FIFTH TEST. I have contacted ACT and they told me the fifth test is optional because it does not count for anything.

Per Friend At Court, it is the Winner's responsibility to report the score. This means the tournament desk will only accept reporting from the Winner. If you are the loser of a match and you are concerned the score may not be reported correctly; you should accompany the winner to the desk to report the score. If there is a dispute, the players can take that moment to talk it out while it is fresh in their minds and agree on a score for the winner to report to the desk. We will not "track down games" for the loser hours or days after a match. Too much time has lapsed to try to get the winner to remember the score the way the loser wants it remembered.

You must check in for the tournament prior to playing matches.
We will check in people all day Saturday from 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
Last chance to confirm or make changes to doubles is 6:00 pm Saturday. If you will not be onsite by this time, make sure you check this site prior to Saturday at 6:00 pm for doubles and you are correctly registered and partnered.

Southern Closed Will Have Direct Acceptance List
A Direct Acceptance Standing’s List for each age division (BG12-18s) will be published on May 14. This list will be comprised of the Top 16 Age-Eligible players for the month of June in their respective age divisions.These players will be exempt from their state qualifiers for endorsement into the Southern Closed Championships in June in the age division in which they received their exemption.
Players not listed on the Direct Acceptance list are not eligible for this exemption. Players must register for their respective Southern Closed Championship in order to take advantage of this exemption.

Singles Seeding shall be done using only the results from most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of the division in the order in which players appear on the list.
Doubles Teams shall be seeded in the order of their combined standings (e.g., Player A holds the #1 standing and Player B holds the #10 standing. The Team of A & B would have combined standing of 11.) Teams that have the same combined standing shall be seeded by the by the highest singles seed of the four (4) players.

Singles
All Singles Main Draw matches are full 2 out of 3 sets.All Singles Consolation and Play Off matches will be best of three sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
Doubles will be an 8 game pro-set through the semis, with a set tiebreak played at 8-all. The set tie-break is a 7-point format.
The Doubles Final and Playoff matches will be best of three sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set.

The Mobile Tennis Center uses conduct rules above and beyond those enforced by the USTA. Players participating in tournaments at the facilities identified are required to abide by these facility rules of behavior on and off of the court. These rules also apply to parents, coaches, siblings, and other guests of the players.
The list below indicates the Facility Behavior Rules:
* No use of the word "suck" or any form of the word spoken or spelled.
* No use of expressions of frustrations with references to deities (i.e. "Oh My God", "Jesus", "Jesus Christ", "Christ", "God") either spoken or spelled.
* No use of "freaking", "frigging", or "fricking" or variations of such words either spoken or spelled.
* No Smoking anywhere on the premises. Premises includes parking lots, bathrooms, and anywhere within 30 feet of a tennis court.
Verbal rules apply to any language. We have officials on sight who are fluent in many languages.
Anyone found in violation of these rules may be subject to a Code Violation and receive suspension points.

For the Boys:
* Any T-shirts worn must be plain or tennis related
* No underwear should be visible above waist band or below hemline
* Shirts must be worn at all times
* Shorts must be worn appropriately above pelvic bones
* Sleeveless shirts are acceptable if made that way - no cutoffs
For the Girls:
* Any T-shirts must be plain or tennis related
* Compression shorts must be fully covered with a skirt or dress. Also known as "shorties" or "booty shorts" are not allowed to be worn without being covered
* Skirts and shorts must be worn appropriately above the pelvic bones
* The bottom of your Shirt must touch the top of your Skirt or Short while standing upright-shoulders back; this means do not roll down your skirts or shorts. Trust us when we tell you that your equipment (skirt or short) is not working properly during play when rolled

Withdrawal Prior to Entry Deadline:
Go to the Tournament website under "EDIT REGISTRATION" on the right side of your screen click "Withdraw". From there you can withdraw. If you do not know your Confirmation #, then click "Locate Confirmation" just below "Withdraw." We cannot withdraw you, you must do this yourself. You will lose the processing fee if you do not withdraw online before registration closes.
Withdrawal After Entry Deadline:
Immediately contact the tournament to withdraw from the tournament. You must email your withdrawal. DO NOT call to withdraw. The email is tennismobile@gmail.com. If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament. There are no refunds after registration closes. If you wait to withdraw after registration closes, but before selections are made, you will be charged and there is no refund.
Defaulting during the tournament:
You must see the trainer and get approval from the Head Referee at the Mobile Tennis Center. Do not tell just anyone at the desk and think you have properly defaulted. Unless you speak to the Head Referee in person, it will count as a "No Show." WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY WITHDRAWALS OVER THE PHONE! If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament OR a visit with the onsite trainer will suffice.

WE WILL ACCEPT LATE ENTRIES ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS.
EMAIL IS THE ONLY WAY TO COMMUNICATE FOR LATE ENTRIES SO WE CAN ESTABLISH THE TIME RECEIVED.
PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT A RESPONSE TO A LATE ENTRY REQUEST BEFORE TUESDAY 6/4/19.

SHOULD A LATE ENTRY BE OFFERED A SPOT, A $25 LATE FEE WILL BE CHARGED IN ADDITION TO THE ENTRY FEE.

Upon arrival for your warmup, you pay for your time with the pro at the city desk, cash or credit card. Obtain a receipt and show it to the pro prior to your lesson. $45 for an hour and $25 for a half-hour.

We will only use the Mobile Tennis Center for Matches - 851 Gaillard Drive, Mobile, AL 36608
Every morning of the tournament, the site will open at 6:30 am.
During the tournament, there will be practice courts available on site. Number and location will be determined daily and posted on the Court Assignment Board. We usually have 8-12 courts available.

MATCH CHECK IN RULE: Regulation IV.A.2 states "A player shall check in at the tournament desk before the scheduled time of each match. The Referee shall designate a place at which players shall check in. A player is not deemed to have arrived until the player checks in at the designated place and the player is properly clothed, equipped, and ready to play. The Referee may penalize a player who is on site for lateness if a court is available and the player has failed to check in at the tournament desk by the scheduled match time."
THIS MEANS, IF THERE IS 1 OPEN COURT AT 10:00 AND THERE ARE 3 MATCHES TO PUT ON, THE REFEREE WILL START THE CLOCK FOR LATENESS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT CHECKED IN FOR 10:00 - EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH COURTS FOR ALL 3 MATCHES.
FOR THIS TOURNAMENT:
-- The first matches of each day will report directly to the court at 7:45, and balls will be on the court. Matches should begin promptly at 8:00. We call this a "Shotgun Start"
-- In most cases for all matches after 8:00 am, please get in a single-file line at the tournament desk 15 minutes before your scheduled match time. Do not wait until 9:59 to check in for 10:00. You must go to the bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. and be ready to go on court before you check in. When using block scheduling, we may use the shotgun start for matches after 8:00 am.
-- Once you have checked in, you must stay where instructed until we tell you the court assignment.
-- We will be watching the clock for lateness. Please do not ask if your opponent has checked in - you have other things to think about. The staff and the Referee will take care of lateness issues, you need only worry about your own timeliness.

We do have a Fully Stocked Pro Shop at the Mobile Tennis Center. The tournament discount is 20% off regular priced clothing, shoes, racquets, and bags and 10% off most sale merchandise, which is already marked at low prices.

There will be two Experienced Stringers at the Mobile Tennis Center during the tournament. Cost with your own string is $18. We also have a large string inventory if you do not have your own.

One trainer will be on site at the Mobile Tennis Center during matches. By law, trainers are not allowed to distribute any medicine. Please bring your own Tylenol, Advil, Sinus Medicine, Epi Pens, etc. If you have an injury or illness, we strongly suggest you see the trainer. If you need to withdraw due to injury or illness, the process will be much smoother if we have confirmation from the trainer. Without confirmation, or a written doctors excuse by the end of the tournament, you may incur suspension points for leaving. Remember if you withdraw during the tournament, you must see the Head Referee in person or it will count as a "No Show"


Please note: The trainer has a lot of ground to cover with on-court issues and many people to see off the court. They are not there to give massages due to limited time and lack of privacy; but, they will advise you on various techniques you or your parents can do. Also, there is a science to applying Kinesiology Tape due to a specific diagnosis. Without the diagnosis from a doctor, the trainers will not apply this type tape. If you require this type tape due to a pre-existing injury, please learn how to tape before the tournament.
