Weil Wins First OV Singles Championship Niehaus/Weil repeat as Doubles Champions
Zoey Weil (Columbus, OH) won her first OV Girls 18 District Tournament Championship with a 6-2-7-6(2) victory over third seeded Cassie Alcala (Pickerington, OH). Six Seeded Syndi Ratliff (Columbus, OH) claimed a third place finish with a 7-6(4) 61 victory over Morgan Coburn(Cincinnati, OH). The Backdraw Finalists were Jamie Kim (Mason, OH) and Kelli Niehaus (Cincinnati, OH) The top seeded team of Kelli Niehaus (Cincinnati, OH) and Zoey Weil (Columbus, OH) Repeated as the doubles Championship with a 8-2 win over the third seeded duo of Kathleen Jones (Lewis Center, OH) and Paige Kompa ( Columbus, OH). Syndi Ratliff (Gahanna, OH) and Morgan Coburn (Cincinnati, OH) finished third with a 8-1 victory over Evelyn Holman (Upper Arlington, OH) and Ella Hazelbaker (Columbus, OH) . The Sportsmanship award winner was Cassie Alcala (Pickerington, OH)

The matches scheduled for today, June 11, are moving indoors to Five Seasons Sports Club located at 4242 Clyo Road, Bellbrook, OH. The OV MW Qualifier is a Closed tournament. To gain entry
into the tournament a player must have residence in the Ohio Valley District.
Girls’ 18 singles and doubles. Feed
in Consolation in singles to quarter-finals. Doubles will be single
elimination. Draw: 64, based on the quota determined by the OVTA. The draw will
be posted on June 7, 2018 with first round match times. Players must get their
first match times from the Internet site. No Match times will be given by
phone. Any Player NOT getting their first match time from the Internet, must
appear at 7:45 am Saturday Morning or 30 minutes prior to their scheduled match
time on June 9 to get their first match time.
Age: USTA rules regarding age in the
current ranking year will apply. All Players must enter the tournament using
TennisLink. The entry fee will be as listed on the web page. Entries close
Sunday June 3, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. In the event of rain, players will be
assessed a $ 17.00 per match charge for singles and doubles for indoor matches.

Entry Fee: ALL Participants must use
Tennis Link. Front draw no shows will be replaced with alternates. Play will
begin on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 8:00 am.
Awards: Awards will be given for singles to the Champion and the Runner-up, the
Third and Fourth place winners, to the Backdraw Champion and Runner-up. The
Doubles Champions and Runners-up will also receive awards.
Rules: Player must check in at the
tournament site 15 minutes prior to each assigned playing time. The 15 minutes
default time will be enforced. Matches will be two sets with match tie-breaker.
A Super tie-break will be used in alieu of a third set. There is 3 minute break
between the second set and the match Tiebreak. Appropriate tennis clothing
should be worn. Strict adherence to sportsmanship should emphasized with
enforcement of the USTA Point Penalty System when necessary. Monitors will
facilitate enforcement of rules.
Food: There are fast food
restaurants in the area as well as many fine restaurants.

will have a Cellular Phone as well as each site. All information regarding the
Tournament with regard to inclement weather, delays, etc. may be retrieved from
the Tournament Information Line at (937) 885-4405. The number for the Tournament
Desk will also be placed on the Tournament Information Line message so that all
participants will have access to the Tournament Desk ONCE THE TOURNAMENT has
BEGUN. Additionally, The Tournament Desk phone number will be on the back of
the Match Card that each participant receives at registration.

ACT/SAT TEST: If you are taking the
ACT/SAT test on Saturday, I will attempt to schedule your matches for the
afternoon. I cannot guarantee that I can work around the ACT/SAT test on
Saturday, but I will make every attempt to do so. Late Match Times for ACT
participants will be 1:15 pm. NO accommodations will be made for a Sunday ACT/SAT
Test. However, all players must complete ALL of the requirements listed below.
In order to be granted a afternoon match time in the OVTA Girl’s 18 Districts
due to taking the ACT/SAT Test on Saturday June 9, 2018, each player MUST do
the following: 1. Change your Testing site to the Dayton Area (preferably
Centerville HS) 2. Request the late match time from the Tournament Director in
Writing (either by email) prior to June 3, 2018. 3. A copy of the admission
Ticket MUST be included with the written request (Send as an attachment in pdf
format). 4. All afternoon matches will begin at 1:15 P.M. Therefore, players
MUST request from the ACT/SAT for a test center change to any Dayton Area
Testing Center (preferably at Centerville HS, Fairmont, Oakwood, Chaminade
Julienne). Any player that does not choose to change their testing center to
the Dayton Area may not arrive by 1:15 P.M. and will be defaulted. Area Test
Centers are Centerville High School , Wright State University, Kettering
Fairmont High School, Chaminade Julienne, Beavercreek ,and Oakwood. 4. All
players who request a late match time (and their opponents) may be required to
play up to Two (2) afternoon matches on Saturday June 9, 2018. Changing your
Test Center If you cannot take the ACT/SAT Assessment at your assigned test
center, you MUST contact ACT/SAT to request a test center change. ALL test
center changes are subject to the availability of the test center materials and
seating space. (See your Counselor for specific directions to change your Test
Center). To request a test center change up to ten days before the test date,
Check with your school counselor.

Wild Card/Exemption
Any Wild Card request must be submitted to the Ohio Valley office before the Ohio Valley Midwest Qualifier entry deadline: June 3, 2018.
In each age group, if an earned quota position is not
accepted by a player and the Wild Card was not granted prior to the tournament,
the Wild Card will be granted to the next highest eligible tournament
participant on the Midwest ranking list.
