NEW SCORING FORMAT FOR 2018:
For 2018 Junior events the scoring format will be a
"Super-Tiebreaker" in lieu of a third set for the Thursday matches.
The Junior matches on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be "Best of
Three Sets."
NOTE: CIF events will continue to play 3 full sets for all
rounds.
MATCH LOCATIONS:
To determine the location of a court, first go to the draws for a
particular event. The draws will have a letter or numeric code for
the court location. Go to the tournament website
(www.ojaitourney.org) to the "Tournament Info" tab and scroll down
to the "Court Locations" tab. There will be a list of Court Codes
and the name and address of the location. You can click on the code
and a map of the court will show. Copy and paste this address to

BOY'S 18 DIVISIONS:
The Ojai does not have standard Boys 18 divisions. We host Boys CIF
events in Singles and Doubles. CIF entries must be entered by their
own high school coach. Coaches must enter players through the CIF
Southern Section office by Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
The 2018 Ojai Junior Tournament will begin on Thursday, April 26,
2018 and conclude on Sunday, April 29, 2018. All Junior finals
(with the exception of the CIF Boys Singles and Doubles) will be
held at Libbey Park on Sunday, April 29. Boys CIF singles and
doubles semifinals and finals will be held on Saturday, April
28.
ONE EVENT ONLY:
Players in Junior and CIF divisions are limited to one event only.
A player can not play in a singles and doubles event. Also a player
may not enter a Junior and CIF event or a Junior and Open Division
event.
Entries for Junior players opens on Sunday, February 25, 2018
and closes on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 11:59pm
WAIVER FORM
In Connection with on-line entry, each player must sign a Waiver of
Responsibility form, which will be sent via email following each
entry..
DRAW SIZE LIMITS FOR 2018 OJAI
The draw size limits for each junior division have been set by the
Ojai Tournament Committee for the 2018 Ojai. These limits are
formulated based on present court availability on Thursday and on
previous years draw sizes:
-Boys CIF division: 64 singles players, 64 doubles teams (selected
by CIF Committee)
-Girls 18's Singles: 32 singles players
-Girls 18's Doubles: 16 doubles teams
-Boys 16's Singles: 64 singles players
-Girls 16's Singles: 32 singles players
-Boys 14's Singles: 64 singles players
-Girls 14's Singles: 48 singles players
If court availability is increased on Thursday, the Tournament
Committee reserves the right to expand all divisions not previously
64 competitors. The selection process is detailed below:
SELECTION PROCESS FOR 2018 OJAI
The 2018 Ojai has entry limits in each one of their events (see
above). In the event that entries are oversubscribed for a
particular event, the following selection process will be
used:
For a 32 draw:
Step 1: top 26 players will be accepted from the natural age
division
Step 2: up to 4 spots from the lower age division will be accepted
(player must be in top 100 of that lower division standing list in
order to qualify for these spots.
Step 3: Tournament Committee will award up to 2 wild cards for
players not accepted in steps 1 or 2. If the Tournament Committee
does not award these, any unused wild card spots will go back to
the natural division.
For a 48 draw:
Step 1: Top 39 players will be accepted from the natural age
division
Step 2: up to 6 spots from the lower age division will be accepted
(player must be in top 100 of that lower division standing list in
order to qualify for these spots.
Step 3: Tournament Committee will award up to 3 wild cards for
players not accepted in steps 1 or 2. If the Tournament Committee
does not award these, any unused wild card spots will go back to
the natural division.
For a 64 draw (please note that this does not apply to CIF
divisions):
Step 1: top 52 players will be accepted from the natural age
division
Step 2: up to 8 spots from the lower age division will be accepted
(player must be in top 100 of that lower division standing list in
order to qualify for these spots.
Step 3: Tournament Committee will award up to 4 wild cards for
players not accepted in steps 1 or 2. If the Tournament Committee
does not award these, any unused wild card spots will go back to
the natural division.
Other Notes:
The Ojai Valley Junior Tournament is proud to be part of the
TennisRecruiting.net National Showcase series. These tournaments
will count towards TennisRecruiting.net rankings. Players who
compete in these tournaments and win at least one match will become
NATIONAL PLAYERS for their Tennis Recruiting Ranking.
The tennis ball used for all Junior events will be the Wilson US
Open Extra Duty tennis ball.
Player Selection TypePlayers are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry TypeEntry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, April 15, 2018 11:59:00 PM Pacific Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
