Tournament Update Monday 9:15 AM Update
Due to fog and slightly soggy courts we are going to make the following adjustments to start times: 8-11 AM matches report at 11 AM. There is no need to check in before 11 AM. 11 AM matches onward report to your playing site at noon--and check the website for any match time changes
|
Tournament Update Monday 1:10 AM
Sites for Monday will be UTD and Collin College. A few matches have been pushed back due to players coming off the court Sunday evening after playing a late doubles match, so check your match time again, please. Please check in ready to play a minimum of 15 minutes before your match time. Warm up courts will be available at both sites before 8 AM. After 8 AM the practice courts closest to UTD will be at Pearce High School and the warm-up courts closest to Collin College are at Bowman Middle School. Match format for Monday will go back to our original scoring for both singles and doubles. If you'd like to buy some of the used tournament balls email sally10s@me.com or see the Site Director at either Collin College or UTD for assistance. We'll be giving out the boy and girl Sportsmanship award, too.

Doubles Update 4:15 PM
Please check in at your playing site at the time you see on your doubles draw. The doubles times have not been adjusted for the delayed start today. The only situation in which your doubles match time will change is if one or more of the players is still on court playing singles--then we'll make a new match time and post it online. Players traveling from a singles site to a different doubles site will have a total of 45 minutes from the conclusion of the singles match to get over to their doubles site--15 minutes travel time and a 30 minute rest period.

Tournament Update Sunday 10:45 AM
All matches scheduled for Sunday will be played today. Here is a site by site update:
High Point Tennis Center and UTD--no change to the game plan. 3 hour delay for all singles match times. So--8 AM matches will play at 11 AM, 9 AM matches will play at noon, etc. Due to players who have withdrawn we anticipate that once we get rolling we will be running ahead of schedule, so if you want to play earlier show up earlier.
Allen High School, Plano West, and Collin College--8 AM matches will now start at 12 noon. All other matches (from 9 AM on) please add 3 hours to your match time as previously announced and show up ready to play. Again, we anticipate things to move quickly so if you want to play earlier, show up a bit early for your match,
|
Tournament Update Sunday 9:45 AM
Matches have been pushed again--so sorry. Add 3 hours to your singles match time and report 15 minutes before your match time.
|
Tournament Update Sunday 9:15 AM
Update--add 2 hours to your match time--so 8 AM matches will play at 10 AM, etc. Also, please note that the courts are not playable yet so the Site Directors and Umpires will not be allowing players on court to play mini-tennis, serve, or otherwise be on the courts until they are dry and safe.
|
Tournament Update 8:20 AM
Thanks to everyone for your patience with the weather--it's the one thing we can't do anything about. All sites are drying slowly so we have a new update on your match times for singles today. Add 90 minutes to your Sunday singles match time posted on your draw and that's your new time. Check in 15 minutes before your match time ready to play--there is no need for the customary 30 minute check-in time. So--if your Sunday singles match time is 9:30 AM your new match time is 11:00 AM--check in at 10:45 AM.
|
Tournament Update Sunday 6:30 AM
Are we having fun yet? Due to wet courts and slow drying conditions all scheduled singles matches have been pushed back one hour. All doubles will start as scheduled. The Sunday format for both singles and doubles remains the same as noted below.
So, for example. If you have an 8 AM match, report to your site ready to play at 9 AM. If you have a 10:15 AM match report to your playing site ready to play at 11:!5 AM. If you have a 1:00 PM match, be ready to check in and play at 2:00 PM, etc.
|
Tournament Update Sunday 5:00 AM
The draw times posted are the official start times and sites for Sunday. Please email sally10s@me.com if you'd like to get on the list for players looking for doubles partners, if you need to withdraw, and if you have found a doubles partner--all of those items need to be communicated via email, no by phone call or text. Please refer to the USTA Texas Section note posted below regarding your options for playing on Monday.
|

Saturday 5:00 PM Tournament Update
Thanks for a great day today, everyone! There will be no more matches played today due to the weather, so have a nice shower, enjoy a good meal and rest up for a big day tomorrow. Please check the website later for an update on tomorrow's matches. It is going to take some time to re-do tomorrow's schedule, so please be patient and know that we are "on it". If you are in the doubles event without a partner you have until your doubles match starts tomorrow to find a partner. Tomorrow's order of play will start with all matches that were on courts when it started raining, followed by Sunday's singles and ending with doubles.
|

For singles, this tournament is a 3 day Feed in Consolation (FIC) tournament with playoffs for 3rd/4th and 5th/6th place--there is no 7th/8th place playoff. USTA medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Scoring for all Main Draw matches is 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring. Scoring for all consolation matches is 2 out of 3 sets with a 10 point tiebreaker in lieu of the 3rd set. The rest period for Main Draw singles matches is 2 hours; consolation draws will have a minimum of 1 hour rest period. 3 new balls will be provided for each singles match.
For doubles, the format is single elimination--so if you lose you are "out". The rest period between matches is at least 30 minutes. Players moving from one site to another to play doubles are allowed a total of 45 minutes in between matches. Scoring is an 8 game Pro-Set with regular scoring and a first to 7 point tiebreaker at 8-8. 3 new balls will be provided for each doubles match. USTA medals will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in doubles.
Sportsmanship Awards will be given to one deserving boy and one outstanding girl. We consider it a big deal to win the Sportsmanship Award. If you have a nomination, just mention it to any Site Director for consideration.

If You Are Playing at UTD--Important Update
If you are playing at UTD the good news is that your site rocks--10 courts, great lights...you're going to love it. The bad news is that parking is going to be extremely challenging because it's graduation weekend. Please allow a bunch of extra time to get to the courts--and it might be smart to drop off your player and then find a parking spot. If you are having trouble finding a parking spot on campus there is a shopping center at Campbell and Waterview that will be a bit of a walk, but they will have parking spots.

Volunteers Needed--No Experience Necessary!
Hey there parents--take a break from the stress of watching your child play and help out at a site! (It's actually kind of fun!). We need folks to pass out t-shirts, hand out balls, make sure the trash cans are not overflowing and other fun tasks that require no experience at all. Now that you know the site your child will be playing at, email Sally at sally10s@me.com to help out. You can set your own hours and help out for as long or little as you'd like.. All sites will open at 7 AM and will shut down around 9 PM.

Draw Formats Adjusted for National Points
To ensure 64 players still have an opportunity to earn National Points as was originally scheduled in September, USTA National has given approval to run 2 A draws with a max size of 32 each. The seeds will be waved across the 2 A draws evenly. If draws have more than 64 players, then B draws may be needed with a minimum of 16 players. For doubles, there will be 2 A draws of 16 teams each. If there are more than 32 teams in doubles, then a B draw doubles will be made with a minimum of 8 teams.
All A draws will be given Level 4 National Points. The tournament will be giving Tier 3 – Level 4 Texas points as found in the more info link. Each A draw will use the A draw point chart and the B draws will use the B draw point chart. The Austin October Rescheduled tournament was formatted the same way as this rescheduled tournament.

Withdrawal Rule Remains in Effect in 2017 - Please Read
In 2017, the Monday/Tuesday Withdrawal Rule for Super Champ Designated Tournaments will remain in effect. For this tournament, players are required to inform the tournament desk or tournament director the day before of their intent not to complete their matches on the last day of the tournament. This must occur no later than 6pm Sunday for tournaments that end on Monday, or 6pm Monday for tournaments that end on Tuesday, or within 15 minutes of completing their final match of the day (whichever is later). For this tournament, all players must inform the director by Sunday (12/17) at 6pm for Monday (12/18) matches. The tournament director will inform the opponent immediately of any withdrawals. Players who pull out after Sunday at 6pm will have their match coded as a withdrawal and will receive no points for their wins in that tournament. If a player gets injured or ill after that 6pm deadline and they think it's important to "keep their points" they (the player) will need to physically show up on Monday morning and pull out in person at the tournament desk in order to have that match coded a walkover and retain their points.
