USTA/Midwest Level 2 Open
Girls 14s – July 21-23, 2018
WELCOME PLAYERS
The
Greater Midland Tennis Center is pleased to host the 2018 USTA/Midwest L2 G14’s,
and we are happy to have you participating! The following information has been
provided to help make your tournament experience a great one, so please take a
few minutes to read it. Results will be posted daily on the USTA website: www.midwest.usta.com, TennisLink,
Tournament ID # 850015118.
MATCH CHECK-IN
The
tournament desk will be behind the welcome center through the main entrance. Please check-in with the Tournament Desk at
least 15 minutes prior to each scheduled match (30 minutes before 1st
match) so that we know you are on-site and will be ready to play when your
match is called. You will need to be within hearing distance of the Tournament
Desk at match time. Matches will not be put out early unless both players agree
to it. The USTA Point Penalty System for Lateness for Match rules are in effect
for this tournament. Please do not be late!
TENTATIVE MATCH TIMES
All
match times posted for the 2nd round and beyond are TENTATIVE. At the end of each match, both players must
report scores to the tournament desk and receive a match card with their next
scheduled match time on it. Minimum rest time between matches is 1 hour.
WARM-UP COURTS
Friday:
6 – 9 pm, up to 1 hour may be reserved ($20/hr).
Saturday: 7:30 – 8:30 am, 30 minute courts ($10/half
hour).
Saturday: 8:30 am – 2 pm, 30 minutes courts, warmup may
need to be inside.
Sunday:
7:30 – 8:30 am, 30 minute courts ($10/half hour).
(reserve Saturday after last match)
Sunday:
8:30 am – 2 pm, 30 minutes courts, warmup may need to be inside.
Monday:
7:30 am and later courts available at no charge see tournament desk.
DRAW FORMAT
Singles
is Feed In Consolation, all players losing in the main draw up feed to the
consolation draw or a playoff. Doubles is single elimination. Players are
expected to play and complete all scheduled matches.
NOT PLAYING A SCHEDULED
MATCH
There are main
draw and consolation draw matches on Monday. Players are expected to play and complete all
scheduled matches. Players who leave the tournament early (do not play
scheduled matches, for any reason) must speak directly with the Tournament
Director or Referee, and will need to complete a form detailing the reason for
not playing.
SCORING FORMAT
Main Draw: 2 out of 3 tiebreak sets with a set tiebreak
at 6 all, and a 10 minute break between 2nd and 3rd
sets. Consolation Draw: 2 out of 3 sets, with a Match Tiebreak (first to
10, must win by 2 points) in lieu of a full third set, with and a 3-minute rest
period before the 3rd set Match Tiebreak (please read the coaching information posted on the tournament score board). A 5-minute warm-up will be allowed at the
beginning of each match. Doubles is an 8 game pro set.
SCHEDULE OF PLAY
Saturday
8:30 am – 1 Rd doubles rd of 64 singles, rd of 32 singles, 1 rd FIC
Sunday
8:30 am – 1 round doubles, rd of 16, quarter finals, 2 rounds of FIC, 1 round
of doubles
Monday
8:30 am – 1 round of doubles, semi finals, finals and 3/4 playoff, 2 rounds of
FIC (stops at Semifinals)
PROSHOP
Our
pro shop is open 8:30-1pm on Saturday. If you need stringing done past 1
contact the tournament desk to arrange. Rackets must be dropped off by 5pm to guarantee
completion by the next morning. Tournament stringing is $22 if you provide
string and regular shop prices for purchased string.
USTA-CERTIFIED
OFFICIALS
This
is a USTA-sanctioned tournament, and USTA-certified officials will be on-site
throughout the tournament. Players- if you need any assistance during a match
and an official is not on your court or nearby, please have both players go to
the net and raise your racquet. An official will assist you as quickly as
possible. Remember, in USTA-sanctioned tournaments there should not be any
communication between players and spectators (parents, coaches, friends, etc)
during a match (other than authorized rest periods). And, unless your match is
finished, you should not leave the court for any reason without notifying an
official.
SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS
We
would like to recognize players for their good sportsmanship throughout the
tournament. There will be a
sportsmanship award for each day of the tournament. Players and parents may
nominate other players for this award if you think they deserve it. Please see the tournament desk with your
nomination.
