Endorsement Procedures
In addition to being a great Level 3 Sectional
tournament, the NEMTA Midwest Qualifier tournament is also played to determine
which players from our district advance to the Midwest Level 1 Outdoor Closed
Championships (MOCC). The top two finishers (Main Draw Champion and the winner
of a playoff between the Main Draw Finalist and Consolation Draw Winner) from
each age division will qualify for entry into the MOCC. The playoff will happen
even if these two players have played each other already once during the
tournament in the Main Draw. This NEMTA Qualifier will feature a Full Feed-In
Consolation Draw format, meaning that all players who lose in the Main Draw
will feed into the Consolation Draw. A player must PLAY & COMPLETE all
scheduled matches to be eligible for the endorsement. Winners and finalists
should be prepared to represent NEMTA at the MOCC. Northern Eastern Michigan possesses
two Quota spots in each division for the Midwest Closed.
Should an Endorsed Quota Spot Player not be able to play in the Midwest Outdoor Closed Championships, that Quota Spot will either be filled by a "wildcard" or will be lost (only 1 wildcard per division is available) and added to the Alternates pool of the Midwest Closed Outdoor Championships. All other players who play and complete the Northeast Michigan Qualifier will be endorsed as Alternates into the Midwest Closed Outdoor Championships in order of their Standing Position on the Midwest Section Standing List published after the last weekend of all District Qualifiers (June 20th). Alternates will be taken into the Midwest Closed Outdoor Championships from ONE pool of alternates at the Midwest Section level. If a player does not reach an automatic qualifying position in the draw and wants to be considered for an alternate status for the Midwest Closed, the player must have played and completed their final match.
Play and Complete is defined as playing all points including
the final point of the match.
