CHECK IN PROCEDURE AND REPORT TO YOUR SITE
It is the responsibility of each player to obtain his or her match time and court site for every match. This information will be posted on the tournament website.EVERYONE SHOULD REPORT TO THEIR SITE DESIGNATED ON THE ONLINE DRAW. PLAYERS SHOULD REPORT 30 MINUTES AHEAD OF TIME. DUE TO AN INCREASED NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND A TIGHT SCHEDULE, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE. PLEASE BE AWARE THERE IS A WINE FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY FOR THE TANGLEWOOD COURTS AND A PRO BIKE RACE NEAR HANES PARK WHICH WILL CAUSE SLOW TRAFFIC AROUND THESE AREAS. PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME SO YOU CAN GET TO YOUR SITE EARLY.

USTA National Selection Player Information
Players must
play in the Tar Heel Qualifier in order to be endorsed into the Southern Closed
(exceptions can be made for the players who compete in the USTA National Selection tournament over Memorial Day Weekend. These
requests must be made in writing via email with name, USTA number, Tournament
ID, and age division for endorsement to dan@nctennis.com
prior to the entry deadline for the THQ). Players must actually compete in the
National event in the age division they wish to be endorsed into for the
Southern Closed. Please know that these players who compete in the National Selection tournament will then ONLY be put on the NC endorsement list wherever they fall point wise after completion of Tar Heel Qualifier.

Practice Courts
There are sites we are not using for the tournament at this time. You may use them as practice courts. All courts being used for the tournament will be cleared at 7:30 am. The indoor facilities and all clay courts are not available for practice. Practice courts are: Leinbach Park, Polo Park, Parkland High School, and Bolton Park.

Directions from Winston-Salem: Take I40 Business EAST towards Greensboro. Merge onto I-40 EAST. Continue on I-40 to LEE ST Exit. LEFT on LEE St. Turn LEFT on FLORIDA ST (follow Barber Park signs). Go strait for 30 seconds. Park entrance will be on your left.

Right on Sunset out of Hanes Park parking lot. Right on Glade. At traffic light take left on Hawthorne. Remain on Hawthorne for approx. 2 miles. (You will cross over the following streets before coming to Bolten St- First St- Queen St - Academy St - Miller St - Magnolia Knollwood.) Take left on Bolten St. Continue on Bolten approx mile. Bolten Park will be on your right.

Right on Sunset out of Hanes Park parking lot. Right on Glade. At traffic light take left on Hawthorne . Remain on Hawthorne, cross First St., go under bridge and take immediate left onto Lockland Ave. Take I-40 Business East to Exit 6A (US 52/311 South -Lexington). Exit immediately at Exit 108C Winston-Salem State University. Take right onto Stadium Dr. Take left onto Salem Ave. Continue on Salem Ave. Central Tennis courts will be on your left mile.

Right on Sunset out of Hanes Park parking lot. Right on Glade. At traffic light take left on Hawthorne. Right on Cloverdale. Right on First St. and continue thru Northwest Blvd. Get in far right lane at major intersection and go strait thru light. You are now on Country Club Rd. Remain on Country Club Rd approx 2-3 miles. Entrance is on the right.

HANES PARK (HPC & HPH) TOURN. HEADQUARTERS (625 W End Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27101)
During the tournament, there is a Pro bike race going on in Winston-Salem which could cause delays to the park. The course goes by Hanes Park which may result in delays to access the park and parking. Please allow extra time to get to this site. Approaching Winston-Salem on Business I-40 from the east or the west, take Cloverdale Avenue exit off I-40. Turn left onto Cloverdale Avenue. Remain on Cloverdale to Hawthorne Rd. Turn left onto Hawthorne Rd. Go one block and bear right onto Glade St. Hanes Park will be on your left.

Courts on the left side past school buildings.

There is a Wine Festival Saturday at the park. Please allow extra time due to traffic coming to the Festival. At the gate tell the attendant that you are with the Tarheel Qualifier and you will not be charged a gate fee and will be given a gate pass. Right on Sunset out of Hanes Park parking lot. Right on Glade.. At the light take left on Hawthorne. Take right on Cloverdale to I-40 Business West ramp. Take I-40 Business West. Merge left on I-40 West. Remain on I-40 West to Exit 182 Tanglewood/Bermuda Run. At top of ramp take left onto Harper Rd. Remain on Harper to stoplight. Right at stoplight onto Hwy 158. Tanglewood entrance on your left. Proceed strait to entrance guard house. Tell guard that you are with the Tar Heel Qualfier tennis tournament. Proceed mile and the courts will be on your right.

Selection Process and Seeding Information
Selections into this event will be made from the most up to date
North Carolina Standing List (mid-May published list), 64 players per age division (age
eligible) will be selected. Players must compete in singles in the age division they wish to be endorsed in for Southern Closed. Please note that the tournament will seed using the most up to date USTA Southern Standings (5/19 list).

QUALIFIER ELIGIBILITY
By registering online for this tournament, I, or if a junior, my parent or guardian certify that I am in compliance with the following statement. I hereby certify that I am domiciled in, and a resident of, the State of North Carolina and will have been so for 30 days preceding the start of this tournament; and that during the current ranking year, I have not entered, nor do I intend to enter, any closed tournament in any other USTA District (State) or in any other USTA Section, other than the Southern Section; and that this certification is made to determine eligibility for this tournament and is made under penalty of disqualification by the Tournament Committee from entry, suspension, denial of any ranking or any other appropriate action by the North Carolina Tennis Association.”

BIRTH CERTIFICATE
All players who compete in the Tar Heel Qualifier must have a birth certificate and/or green card on file with the USTA North Carolina office for proof of citizenship. SINGLES INFORMATION
Singles play will not begin until Saturday. BG 10s - Best of two short sets (first to 4 games by a margin of 2) with a tiebreak (first to 7) in lieu of third set in both Main Draw and Consolation (Ad Scoring).
BG 12s-18s - All Main Draw Matches will be play best two out of three full tiebreak sets (Ad Scoring). All consolation matches will play best 2 out of 3 sets with a match tiebreak (first to 10) in lieu of third set (Ad Scoring).

DOUBLES INFORMATION
Doubles will begin Friday afternoon. BG 10s will play a regular 6 game set with a set tiebreak (first to 7) at 6-6 (AD Scoring).
Format will be a regular 8 game pro set for BG 12s-18s (Ad Scoring)

BALLS FOR TOURNAMENT
PRO PENN will be used for as the Yellow ball for ages 12-18. PRINCE Orange Ball for the 10s.

PICNIC
A picnic will be held Friday starting at 5:30 pm. All players, coaches, and family welcome. The picnic will be at the Hanes Park and Wake Forest courts.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to specified residents only. Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, May 17, 2016 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
