Plano Championship Major Zone (CMZ)

Play was not completed at three sites--High Point, Allen HS, and Plano West SH. Consequently, the unfinished matches have been re-scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Sunday. Many match times have changed. Please re-check your first match time for tomorrow.

In case of rain or inclement weather during the tournament, we will communicate to players and parents in three ways:


1. Messages will be posted as needed on the tourney homepage. Players and parents should check the homepage often in case of weather delays.
2. The same message will be emailed to the email address in the tournament player’s USTA membership account. Players and parents should make sure the email address on the player’s membership account is up to date and accessible during the tournament. (If you did not receive this message by email, please check the email address on the player’s USTA account).
3. We will post the same message on our phone system. To access the weather message recording, please dial 972- 941-7170, option 1.

The Tournament Committee recommends that you check your child's draw again on Friday night (April 8)--just to make sure you have read everything correctly and that there have been no changes to your child's draw (such as a player withdrawal). To ensure a smooth running tournament, your child should check in for his/her first round match site a minimum of 30 minutes before the scheduled match time. Players are responsible for arriving on time and at the correct playing site--no exceptions

Central Expressway North (from Dallas) to Exchange Parkway (Exit 36). Take Exchange Parkway east about ¾ mile and turn right on Rivercrest. Courts are about ½ mile on right. more info

Central Expressway North (from Dallas) to exit 31 (Spring Creek Pkwy.) Take Spring Creek East about 1 mile to Jupiter Road. Turn right on Jupiter, and go about ½ mile and courts are on the left. more info

Central Expressway North (from Dallas) to Exit 31 (Spring Creek Pkwy), go left under the highway and stay on Spring Creek for about ½ mile. Tennis Center is on the right side. more info

Central Expressway North (from Dallas) to McDermott (exit 34). Go East on McDermott (right).
Once you cross over Greenville (Hwy. 5), go approx. 3.5 miles. High School will be on the left hand side. more info

Central Expressway North (from Dallas) to Exit 28 (Plano Parkway). Take Plano Parkway east and turn left onto Los Rios Blvd. Los Rios Blvd. dead-ends into Plano East Senior High School. Plano East is at the corner of Los Rios Blvd. and San Gabriel. Courts are on the northeast corner of the campus. more info

Central Expressway North (from Dallas) to Exit 29 (15th Street, Whitsitt Pkwy, FM 544). Go left under highway (west). Stay on 15th Street until Custer Road. Turn right on Custer and left on Park Blvd. High School is on right side. Entrance to court is on Park Blvd. more info

After the second overrule in a match, an official should caution a player at that time that future overrules will be penalized under the Point Penalty System. Future overrules MUST be penalized after a player has been cautioned. This guideline will go into effect on 12/1/2014.

First-off Consolation – All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates “maybe matches” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players that lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This new format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
