ITA Summer Circuit at University of Mary Washington

On Sunday, you might try KENMORE PARK about half a mile from UMW or JAMES MONROE HS less than 1 mile from campus.

2. REST OF SATURDAY IS INDOORS. Men's Singles 1-4:30, Women's Doubles at 5, Men's doubles at 5.
3. WOMEN'S DOUBLES MOVED UP TO 4 IF YOU CAN MAKE IT...WE HAVE OPEN COURTS!!!
4. MENS DOUBLES AT 5! 2 RDS of doubles today
5. 8 GAME PRO-SETS WITH NO AD. 5 MIN WARMUP FROM TIME WE GIVE BALLS......BE AS LOOSE AS POSSIBLE AND READY TO GO.
6. RD OF 32 SINGLES WILL BE MOVED TO SUNDAY, WOMEN AT 9 AM, MEN AT 10 AM. IN THIS CASE, ALL TIMES WILL BE CHANGED ONLINE BY 6 PM SAT.

If it is raining or wet in AM, we will go to the RAIN PLAN and announce that at 7:00am on Saturday morning. You should check the tournament site on a regular basis (approx every 30 minutes) for updates on Saturday's match times and other pertinent information. EVEN IF IT IS RAINING, WE MUST BE READY TO TRANSITION TO OUTDOOR THROUGHOUT THE DAY, SO YOU MUST CONTINUE CHECKING WEBSITE AND BE CLOSE ENOUGH TO GET HERE BY MATCH TIME. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE TOURNAMENT DESK....IT WOULD BE TOO MANY CALLS TO HANDLE.
Here are the details if rain plan is in effect first thing in the morning, or for a worst case scenario all day rain:
Order of play: Rd of 64 women starting at top of draw, Rd of 64 men starting at the top of the draw, 1 rd of women's doubles, 1 rd of men's doubles. We will have to do a very shortened format if we have prolonged rain bc we have about 56 first round singles matches played on 6 indoor courts.
IF we have an all day rain, men's draw will start no earlier that 2:00pm. Matches will be called from the top of the draw to the bottom.
All matches will be 8 game pro-sets IF FORECAST IS FOR CONTINUED RAIN.
IF we have rain all day Saturday, we will change Sunday Match Times to include a Rd. of 32 Singles, Rd. of 16 singles, and Quarterfinal Singles. Consolation is scheduled to begin on Sunday anyway, so we will be fine there.

Directions to UNIVERSITY OF MARY WASHINGTON: Take your quickest way to INTERSTATE 95. Take exit 130A off of I95 (Rt. 3 East).... Go through 4 traffic lights, get in left lane, and go under an overpass (which is Rt. 1), then you will go left at the light right after Rt. 1...this is Rt. 3 Business and William St... Then….to get to TENNIS CTS , INDOOR TENNIS CENTER (coach’s office): immediately get in right lane after turning onto William St. and just 20 yards up the hill you want to take the right hand turn (more like bearing to the right of a Y) onto Hanover St. You will see the baseball stadium in front of you and to the right. Continue to the second right hand turn, which is just past the indoor University Tennis Center and is the entrance to the Tennis Complex. ADDRESS FOR MAPQUEST/GPS PURPOSES: 1129 Hanover Street.

If you did not register for doubles online, you will have the opportunity to register for doubles on Saturday by 3:00 PM at the tournament desk. If you do not have a partner, you can sign up as an individual and we will pair you up.

We expect the draws to be posted by Thursday at noon. Most ITA Summer Circuits are using UTR (UNIVERSAL TENNIS RATING) to do seeding this year. It is a very good rating site that many college coaches are beginning to use more and more compared with TR.NET, which also has some very good qualities. But with UTR you can compare across age groups. So, seeding is going off of UTR ratings....we encourage you to check out the website.

We will TRY to add STATE and CURRENT COLLEGE for those in college on Saturday AM. You can certainly look players up on TR

Hey everyone. Not sure what the ITA sent you, but SPORTSMANSHIP has always been one of the main themes of the ITA Summer Circuit. This is supposed to be a fun and laid back event where college players get to compete in the summer and meet new people. Now, many juniors and players about to go into college in the fall, are playing. The old rule used to be that you DO NOT QUESTION and opponent's call unless you are 100% sure they got it wrong. Then, if a player were questioned, they were to give the point to their opponent. The idea was sportsmanship and not having problems on the court. That rule isn't around anymore, but we wanted to remind you that there will be limited officiating. We expect fair play and no issues with rackets, ball slamming, etc.... Let's make it a fun weekend and meet some new people from other colleges and sections. Good luck.

Singles is Match Tiebreakers in lieu of 3rd set. Doubles is 8 game pro set. In singles, saturday consolation "may" need to be 8 game pro-set due to courts/time. We will let everyone know Saturday. PLEASE CHECK IN AFTER YOUR FIRST MATCH, WIN OR LOSE, FOR YOUR NEXT MATCH TIME. If we do prosets in consolation on saturday, we will go match to 2 sets on Sunday as long as we don't have any weather issues.

All of our courts will be open Friday all day if you arrive today, until 9 PM. On Saturday, all courts will be open at 7 AM for warmup. No need to reserve courts. There will be open courts throughout the morning because of defaults already happening. So players not playing at 8 AM will have open courts they can jump onto. Also, KENMORE PARK is with 1/2 mile of our courts and have 8 courts you could warm up on.

The Hyatt is not giving us the UMW rate and they are booked for weekend. I suggest priceline. There are MANY good hotels very close by.

CHECK DRAWS DAILY!!!! THIS EVENT TENDS TO GET PEOPLE PULLING OUT, SO YOUR TIMES, LOCATION, AND OPPONENT CAN CHANGE.

The singles draw should be posted sometime Wednesday. Doubles sign up will be all day Saturday to give everyone a chance to find partners and the draw will be available between 3-4 pm.
