Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Pilot – Player Selection &Seeding
The
USTA/Midwest Section Junior Pathway Committee has approved a pilot program in
which the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) system will be used in combination with
the Points Per Round standings system. The goal of the pilot program is
to identify if the new system will ensure that top-level players will be
selected for specific Midwest junior tournaments.
UTR will be used for a portion of the player selection and seeding for this and

Scoring
The Singles Main Draw will play best 2 out of 3 tiebreak sets and Consolation will play regular scoring in best 2 out of 3 sets with a 10-point super tiebreak in lieu of a third set. The Consolation round stops at the semi-finals.

The tournament hotel is the Radison located in downtown Kalamazoo. This hotel is located in the center of the three facilities used for the tournament. Restaurants located inside the hotel as well as walking distance around the hotel. Rooms can be booked for a discounted rate of $129 per night. Warm-up/Practice Courts
Warm up courts will be available for reservation beginning Wednesday, February 25th at 8am. All warm up court fees are due at time of reservation. No refunds will be permitted. Court fees at $10/half hour. Warm up courts available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Portage Y. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at the Maple Y. And, Saturday and Sunday at the Markin Center. Please call 269-345-9622 Ext. 163 for the Maple Y or Markin Center and 269-324-9622 for the Portage Y.

First match times will be available on the Wednesday before the tournament begins by 6PM.
Come back to this page and click on the blue “Future Match Info Report” to find out your first time as well as your Win/Loss time (W/L). Please be careful when reading this. The W/L times are in parentheses. Players from the same district will not play each other first round unless an alternate fills a spot or more than half the draw is from the same district.

Awards
Trophies will be given to the following players: Champion, Finalist, 3rd & 4th place, and FIC Semi-Finalists. In addition, a Sportsmanship trophy will be awarded.

USTA/Midwest Section Domicile Rules:
The USTA/Midwest Section Closed Junior Championships, the district qualifiers, the USTA/Midwest Section Designated Tournaments and USTA/Midwest Section Junior Davis and Wightman Cup events are open to citizens of the US, permanent resident aliens in possession of a valid alien registration card, individuals who are applicants for adjustment to lawful permanent resident status and who can present a USCIS receipt for a pending unadjudicated form I-485, aliens who have resided continuously in the US for more than one year and who are members of families of persons in the diplomatic or consular corps and aliens who have been granted Refugee Status, Asylee Status or Temporary Protected Status.
