Introduction to tournament:
On behalf of the Greater Hartford Youth Tennis Association and the many volunteers of our organization, thank you for supporting and participating in our tournament this year! We are thrilled that you’re playing and our fingers are crossed for some really nice weather this weekend. For those of you that are familiar with the GHYTA and its history over the past two decades, we wanted to say thank you for your continued support and contributions throughout the years. For many years, the GHYTA has held some of New England's most fun and dynamic USTA junior events, and this tournament is one of many that the GHYTA will be hosting in 2012 (check USTA junior tournament schedule for a list of all of our events this year). We are extremely excited about the prospectus of having all of you participating in our event this weekend and making a difference in the tennis communities of greater Hartford. As a reminder to all players, parents, and coaches, that while we look forward to some exciting and competitive play, the primary reasons we get involved in such an event is to: (1) raise awareness for a good cause and (2) to allow all junior players to participate in a fun and dynamic USTA sanctioned event. I ask all of you to keep your “competitive spirit” in reasonable check and respect your fellow opponents. USTA rules will be in effect at all times. Check USTA New England Level 7 & 6 Rules and Regulations. Tennis attire and shoes will be required for all participants. Please keep school grounds and tennis courts clean. There is no rain date for the tournament. We will play things by ear this week. There will be an official weather update on the tournament page the day of. Thank you again for your continued support and for choosing to participate in our event. See you this weekend. Sincerely, GHYTA Staff
