Level 3 USTA event/Midwest
Points Per Round
All Midwest Level 3's will continue to be an MFIC
(modified feed in consolation) with a Match Tiebreak (superbreaker)
in lieu of the 3rd set, but the tournament wil now be completed in
two days (Saturday and Sunday). Be prepared to play three rounds in
any given day. Players continue to be able to enter both the
Midwest Indoor Closed Championships and the Midwest Level 3 taking
place on the same weekend. You must email both tournament directors
(TD's) and notify them before the deadline that you have entered
both tournaments (or you will receive 5 suspension points, see
suspension point paragraph below). If you make the 64 draw of the
Midwest Indoor Closed, you will be removed from the Competitors
List of the Midwest Level 3. If you are an Alternate in the Midwest
Level 3, you will be given specific instructions by both TD's on
time allowed to decide which tournament list you wish to remain on.
You cannot remain on both lists.
USTA/Midwest Section
Domicile Rules:
The USTA/Midwest Section Closed Junior Championships, the district
qualifiers, the USTA/Midwest Section Designated Tournaments and
USTA/Midwest Section Junior Davis & Wightman Cup events are
open to citizens of the U.S., permanent resident aliens in
possession of a valid alien registration card, individuals who are
applicants for adjustment to lawful permanent resident status and
who can present a USCIS receipt for a pending unadjudicated form
I-485, aliens who have resided continuously in the US for more than
one year and who are members of families of persons in the
diplomatic or consular corps and aliens who have been granted
Refugee Status, Asylee Status or Temporary Protected Status.
We cannot
contact you unless you provide us your telephone numbers and your
e-mail address. The USTA Legal Department
has determined that they cannot provide contact information to
tournament directors unless the customer provides the contact
information during the registration process. Previously the home
phone number and email address were pre-filled from the USTA
Membership database when a player went through the online
registration process. The pre-fill was removed due to privacy
concerns. If you don't provide an email address and/or telephone
number when you register for this tournament then we will be unable
to notify you about any possible changes in the tournament.
USTA/Midwest Section
Suspension Point System and Signing Up for Two Tournaments Signing
up for two events:
The USTA Code of Conduct
and Suspension Point System is in effect. You are expected to play
the entire event as scheduled. The USTA/Midwest Section Junior
Competition Committee has adopted a new Suspension Point System.
All players will be given five (5) suspension points for entering
two or more tournaments that take place at the same time, in whole
or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved agrees with
the multiple entries in writing via e-mail. This applies to all
players who signed up for the tournament including alternates.
2011 USTA/Midwest Section Seeding
& Selection Criteria
All USTA/Midwest Sectional and Designated Tournaments will adhere
to the following Seeding and Selection Criteria as set by the
USTA/Midwest Section Junior Competition Committee. Players will be
selected based on the most current USTA/Midwest Section Standing
List at the time of the tournament entry deadline. Players will be
selected by the following 1. Four (4) players from the top 100 of
the most current USTA/Midwest Section Standing List in next lower
division (except in the boys and girls 12s divisions where 2
players will be selected) 2. 28 players from the most current
USTA/Midwest Section Standing List in the current age division of
the event (except in the boys and girls 12s division where 30
players will be accepted) Remaining vacancies and/or alternates
will be selected from the USTA/Midwest Section Standing List in the
division of the event. Seeding will be done based on the
USTA/Midwest Section Standing List on Jan. 20th.
Player Selection and Numerical Alternate Listing
will be posted on this tournament page on this tournament page by
6:00 pm, Friday, January 21st
Saturday Play begins at 12:00 noon. Main
Draw will play 1st and 2nd round matches followed by the 1st and
2nd round of the MFIC (Modified Feed in Consolation)
Sunday Play begins at 8am.
Main draw will play Quarterfinals, Semifinals, finals and 3&4
play off. MFIC will play thru finals.
Scoring All matches consist of two tiebreak sets
(with a set tiebreak at six games all), followed by in lieu of a
third set, a match tiebreak (first player to 10 points with a 2
point lead). Advantage scoring will be used for all matches.
DEER LAKE ATHLETIC CLUB
Deer Lake Athletic Club welcomes the Midwest Level 3 - Girls 18's
Tournament. The facility has 8 indoorTennis Courts, racquetball,
fitness center, exercise classes, 3 pools, locker room with
steam/dry saunas and a full restaurant. Club hours are
6:00am-10:00pm M-F and 7:00am-9:00pm saturday and sunday. All
players are welcomed to use the facility. Bagels and fruit will be
available to players at no charge. Coupons for the Backcourt
Restaurant will also be given to each player.

Practice Courts
Court Time is available on Friday, January 28th. Please call
248-625-8686 to book court time. The cost will be $10.00 per half
hour. Warm up courts are available on Saturday and Sunday before
the tournament begins at no charge.
Draws will be posted on the
completion of the first round.
