The Midwest Open Girls 16 will be using RAINED OUT as a means of quickly communicating about weather delays. This information will be given in brief messages, but we will also update the USTA website with more detailed information, as soon as possible. To join RAINED OUT for this event please text MOG16 to 84483.

If there is all day rain on Saturday, July 20, the tournament will begin with the first round of doubles at 8:00 a.m. We will not play the second round of doubles. 11:15 a.m. singles matches may be moved ahead. Please be sure if you are scheduled for a 11:15 a.m. match on Saturday that you are prepared to be at Schwartz Tennis Center and ready to play by 10:00 a.m., if weather dictates. A message will be sent through RAINED OUT and the website INCLEMENT WEATHER message will be updated.

Warm-up courts are:
7 - 7:50 a.m. for players scheduled for 8 a.m. matches.
8:15 - 8:55 a.m. for players scheduled for 9 or 9:15 a.m. matches

If we get morning rain, we will only have warm-up courts from 7 - 7:55 a.m. for all players, so please plan accordingly. Match times will remain the same.

Outdoor Practice Courts will be available at Schwartz Tennis Center on Friday, July 20 until 10 p.m. Outdoor Courts are FREE of charge. Indoor courts may be reserved on FRIDAY ONLY for no more than 1 hour for $20.00 per court hour. Indoor courts reserved must be pre-paid, no refunds.


Warm-up courts on the Saturday, Sunday & Monday will be available at Schwartz Tennis Center prior to 8 a.m. All courts must be shared as there will be limited space available. No indoor courts will be available, unless weather conditions dictate otherwise. Additional information regarding warm-up courts after 8 a.m. on match days will be available on Thursday, July 18 at 8 a.m.

Cumberland Elementary School courts may be used on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, depending on weather.

Format for Monday's matches:

Main Draw Singles - 2 out of 3, full sets, regular scoring
Playoffs and Consolation matches, 2 out 3 sets, with a tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd set, regular scoring.
Doubles will play an 8-game pro-set with a tiebreaker at 7-7, regular scoring.


Original Format:
Feed-in consolation draw (through the round of 16). All main draw matches are best two out of three sets. Consolation matches are best of three tie-break sets with a 10-point tie-breaker in lieu of a 3rd set. 64 FIC-R16 Doubles, 8-game pro set.


Modified Format (Saturday, July 20 & Sunday, July 21):
Main Draw Singles:

* 2 out of 3 sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd set * Regular scoring * 5-minute mandatory break after the 1st set is completed * No coaching during the set break * No leaving the court during the break * No cell phone use


Consolation Singles:

* 2 out of 3 sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd set * No-Ad Scoring * 5-minute mandatory break after the 1st set is completed * No coaching during the set break * No leaving the court during the break * No cell phone use


Doubles Matches:

* 6-game set, tiebreak at 6-6 * Regular Scoring


More modifications could be made for play on Monday after tournament committee review.

DRAWS will be made by USTA Midwest on TUESDAY, JULY 16. Draws will be posted on FRIDAY, JULY 19 at 8 a.m.

START TIMES will be posted by WEDNESDAY, JULY 17 by 9:30 P.M. Please click on Future Match Info for your specific start time. You first match time is listed just below your name. You next match time, if you win (denoted W) or lose (denoted L) are listed to the right of your first match time. DOUBLES is single elimination and there will be no LOSS TIME listed. No matches will start prior to 8 A.M. EASTERN TIME on SATURDAY, JULY 20. Matches will be played on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Again, draws will not be posted until Friday, July 19 at 8 a.m. All matches are listed and will be played at EASTERN TIME!

1st ROUND DOUBLES PLAY WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. (EASTERN TIME) ON SATURDAY, JULY 20. 2nd round will begin at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
DOUBLES will be a 32 team Single Elimination draw. Play will be an 8 Game Pro-Set.

The selection of players will be made on either Friday, July 12 or Saturday, July 13 by the USTA/Midwest Section office based on the criteria below:

This tournament will use a combination of USTA/Midwest Points Per Round and Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) for player selection and seeding. Players will be selected for the tournament in the following order:
1 - 44 Players based on the most recent USTA/Midwest Standings List in the age division of the tournament
2 - 20 Players based on UTR
Players will be seeded for the tournament in the following order:
All 16 seeds are done using UTR.

SATURDAY - 1 or 2 Rounds of Doubles, 2 rounds of main draw and 1 round of consolation singles. SUNDAY - 1 or 2 Rounds of Doubles, 2 rounds of main draw and 3 rounds of consolation singles. MONDAY - Potentially 1 Round of Doubles, 2 rounds main draws and 2 rounds consolation singles.

At check-in you will receive a player packet and T-shirt. Included in the player packet will be your match card and other pertinent tournament information. After you receive your player packet and T-shirt, YOU MUST CHECK IN FOR YOUR MATCH AT THE TOURNAMENT DESK, LOCATED OUTDOORS (weather permitting) UNDER THE TENT BY COURT 3 or INDOORS IN THE HALLWAY BEHIND COURT 5. We will enforce lateness penalties. CHECK-IN IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON FRIDAY, JULY 19, 6 P.M. - 9 P.M., if you'd like to avoid coming early on Saturday, July 20.
