ON SATURDAY THERE WILL BE A FOOTBALL ON CAMPUS FROM 1-4PM. BE PREPARED FOR A LIVELIER AND FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE. PARKING WILL BE TIGHT SO ALLOW FOR 20-30MIN ADDITIONAL TRAVEL TIME TO THE COURTS. AN EXTRA ENTRANCE ON NORH PARWAY WILL BE OPEN OR YOU CAN ENTER OR PARK ON UNIVERSITY.

Pizza will be provided at Leftwich Tennis Center on Sat., 9/8/12and Sun., 9/9/11 starting 12noon.

All main draw matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets regular scoring. All singles consolation matches will be best of 3 sets with a match tie-break in lieu of a third set. The singles consolation will be a full feed-in consolation through the quarterfinals. Three rounds will be played Sunday and Monday in the feed in and we will not be able to complete the final feed in match. Short scoring may be used in the Main Draw to catch up after weather delays, but must get final approval from Southern office. There will be a play-off for 3rd and 4th place in the main draw. REMEMBER, NOTHING CANCELS UNLESS IT ALL CANCELS. DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING IS CANCELED IF INCLIMATE WEATHER OCCURS.

INDOOR BACKUP IS AVAILABLE AND WILL BE USED.

ORDERED ALTERNATES REPORT This is the order alternates will replace any withdrawals originally selected from the Standings List. (This report will be posted after selections.)

POINT OF NO RETURN If is your obligation to notify us if you have reached the "point of no return" for travelling. We understand that some of you may not be able to come at a moments notice if a spot opens. Please be courteous and withdraw from the alternates list if you know you cannot travel. We have to contact alternates in order, even though it may be the night before the tournament. We cannot know your intent until you tell us. As long as you are on the Alternates by Event Report, we assume you can still attend.

LATE ENTRIES Anyone wanting to enter the tournament after registration closes has to email slang@tennismemphis.org. If there are alternates in the division you wish to enter, late entries will go below all other alternates, regardless of ranking.

ON-SITE ALTERNATES Need to report to the correct site for your age division 30 minutes before the start of play and must be present for all starting match times. If there is more than one on-site alternate, selection is based on the ordered alternate list.

Entry will be based on selection criteria of 56 from the age group of the event and up to 8 from the lower age group who do not get in the first 56, and who are in the top 80 of the Southern standings in the lower age group at the time of selection. The names of the players who have been selected will appear in as COMPETITORS. Alternates are listed in the REPORT SECTION. DO NOT REFER TO THE ALTERNATES ON THE FAR LEFT SIDE OF THE WEB PAGE (That list is not updated).

SINGLES SEEDING CRITERIA Seeding shall be done using only the results from most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of the division in the order in which players appear on the list.

Players who have a standing in the next younger age division MAY be seeded in any group of seeds if they are in the top 10 of the most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of any younger age division. Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA rankings should be considered for seeding.

TRAINER

There will be a trainer on site at Rhodes College fRI, SAT, SUN. Leftwich Tenins Center MON By law, trainers are not allowed to distribute any medicine. Please bring your own Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, or any other medications you may need. If you have an injury or illness we suggest that you see the trainer.

DEAFAULTING DURING THE TOURNAMENT

If you need to default/withdrawal due to an injury or illness, You MUST see the trainer. The trainer will notify the Tournament Director or Head Referee verifying the default. Without confirmation or a written doctor’s excuse by 5:00pm cst Monday you may incur suspension points for leaving. Remember if you default from the tournament due to injury you must the Trainer in person or it will count as a “No Show”. Withdrawals/defaults due to family emergency notify the Tournament Director or Head Referee, without confirmation you may incur suspension points for leaving. .

Withdrawal PRIOR TO ENTRY DEADLINE Sunday 8/26/11 11:59 pm Go to the Tournament website and click "EDIT REGISTRATION" on the left side of your screen then locate "WITHDRAW." From there you can withdraw. If you do not know your Confirmation #, then click "Locate Confirmation" just below "Withdraw." We cannot withdraw you, you must do this yourself.

Withdrawal AFTER ENTRY DEADLINE Sunday 8/26/11 11:59 pm You must email or fax your withdrawal. DO NOT call to withdraw. The email is slang@tennismemphis.org. and fax is (901) 680-5547. You WILL receive a refund, but it may take 2 weeks in order to receive it. You will receive suspension points unless the withdrawal is due to illness, injury, or personal emergency AND a written verification such as documented medical excuse is provided on or before the last scheduled day of the tournament.

9/6 THU - 2:00PM- First match times posted, anyone withdrawing after this time will receive a penalty without faxed doctor excuse

9/7 FRI - The first alternate that we reach will be offered any open spot

9/7 FRI - Mandatory Check-In 2PM-7PM and draws published at this time

9/7 Fri - 5:00PM - Doubles play will begin. 3 rounds to be played

Players are allowed to enter two divisions with the these guidelines. (This is for selection only you cannot play two divisions at one tournament)

1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for, will automatically be selected to the older age division. They would be removed from the younger age division.

2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternate's lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in, from the alternate list. They would be removed from the Alternates list in the other division.

3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates list of the division they were not selected.

4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made.

USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament check-in or the player will be unable to compete. Doubles Registration opens TUE, 8/26 and close FRI, 8/31.

This tournament will have doubles. Doubles play will begin on FRI, 9/7 at 5pm evening with 3 rounds of play. 32 single elimination draw. An eight game pro set will be played with a tie-break at 8 all.

We do NOT partner players. It is your job to find a partner, confirm the partnership, and then register by the doubles deadline. BOTH partners must (mandatory) sign up with your partner. If you only are playing doubles, then the fee is $25.00, which is payable at the first doubles match. Enter doubles in the same age group that your were accepted in for singles. BOTH PLAYERS must enter online for doubles. more info

All players must have a Birth Certificate on file in the Southern office for proof of US citizenship..Green cards will be accepted, but passports will not. A file of those with proof on file is posted above. more info more info

A 2012 SIGNIFICANT RULE CHANGE--- Juniors receive a mandatory 3-minute rest period after the second set when a match-tiebreak is played in lieu of the third set. Coaching is permitted, but the player must stay on the court. After the 3-minute rest period, no further coaching is allowed. If needed, a bathroom break can be taken after the 3-minute rest period. If a player takes a bathroom break during the 3-minute rest period, the player waives the right to further coaching. No coaching is allowed during the bathroom break.

In matches without an official on court players are expected to follow the code.

All matches will be played on hard courts.

Do not enter two tournaments at the same time. How to avoid Penalties: If you end up on the alternate list, you must withdraw from the alternate list first and then enter the 2nd event. Tournaments have different deadlines that will allow you time to make your changes.
