The Class A Minor League Baseball All-Star Gamie is being held in Rome during this tournament. Other groups, including Honda Gold Wing Riders, are meeting in Rome durning the Southern Closed. She hasn't failed yet, so give her a call.

USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament registration. Please download and bring this completed with you. Players are not allowed on court without this signed release: The Southern form seems to be missing in action, so the link will take you to the Georgia form, which will have to suffice. All players must enter through the TennisLink On-line Registration. Players may enter only one division even though each age division is at a different site and listed as a separate tournament on the schedule. Players should play in the age division they are seeking Southern Endorsement. Fourteen of the selections will be based on the most current Southern Standings of the age division only. (No selections based on the younger age group). All other selections are based on the quotas and endorsements of the States. All applicants NOT admitted to the main draw shall be listed in order, to be moved into the main draw if/when spaces become available. The order will be based on Southern Standings. To find out if the order go to Alternates by Events lists no later than noon on Wednesday, June 13th and daily thereafter. If you are an alternate and do NOT get in on Wednesday, you may do any or all of the following: 1) Stand by as an on-site alternate on Saturday, 16th for any of the 128 unseeded positions 2) Come to play doubles on Sunday, June 17th 3) Stand by as an on-site alternate on Monday, June 18th for the 32 seeded players

Doubles sign-up will be done in person at registration or by e-mail (robert@goodsports.us). No online sign-up is available. Doubles entries will close at 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 16th. Doubles play will begin on Sunday, June 17th. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR DOUBLES IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO STAY FOR THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT. Alternates are encouraged to participate in doubles. Anyone not playing singles on Saturday must enter by e-mail or in person by 5:00 pm, Saturday, June 16th. If you e-mail your entry, please send the e-mail between June 12th and 15th, since we won't have the tournament player data until about June 12th. Doubles draws will be posted Sunday, June 17th, by 9 am.

Thirty-two seeds will be “block seeded” into the third round of the singles tournament and will thus not play until Monday, June 18th. Seeding will be done and posted online on Tuesday, June 12th. Seeded singles players: carefully note the dates for doubles!

5-Minute Scheduling will be used.
Because of a new USTA-mandated procedure for handling lateness penalties for players in groups of matches scheduled at the same time, matches for this year's event will be scheduled in 5-minute increments. Scheduling every 5 minutes will mean that very few matches will be scheduled as part of a group, except for the large group of matches that will start each day.
Check your match time carefully so that you won’t be late. If you like this new scheduling procedure, money and gifts will be graciously accepted. If you don't like it, we'll forward your complaint to the USTA.

The following heat policy will be implemented: When players are scheduled to play 2 singles matches in one day, they will be offered a rest period equal to the length of their first match (up to 3 hours). They will be offered a minimum of 2 hours rest regardless of first match length. This rest period guideline does not apply to doubles.

Scoring: Singles main draw will be the best of three sets. In the event of inclement weather, this format may be changed to best of two sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set. Singles Consolation will be best of three sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third on days that two matches are played. Doubles will play the collegiate format (8 game pro-set) with a match tiebreak played at 8-all. The match tie-break is a 10-point format.

A players’ meeting will be held at the Rome Floyd Tennis Center on Saturday June 16th at 10:00am. Seeded players are not expected to be at the Saturday meeting. A college forum and players' meeting focusing on National endorsement will be held late Sunday afternoon.

Prior to the deadline, players should withdraw on-line. Players should click "more info" for all rules on withdrawing from a tournament after the deadline. All withdrawals after the deadline must be in writing by e-mail or fax. No refunds will be made for players withdrawing after the deadline. Alternates wishing to enter another tournament should withdraw from the Alternates list before entering another tournament. Alternates are not charged the entry fee. All singles matches at Rome Floyd Tennis Center will be taped starting Sunday, June 17. For more information about tapes and DVD's, stop by the video desk on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to get tapes or DVD's to send to prospective colleges.

Boys and girls singles 160 draw with Feed-in championship through quarterfinals and playoff matches for 3/4 places. Play in the FIC is mandatory. Semifinal losers in the main draw are required to play the 3/4 playoff match. The Singles official draw will be made at noon on Thursday June 14th at noon. Draw sheets will be posted at SITE on Friday June 15th by noon. NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE DRAW WILL BE GIVEN BY PHONE. One round of Main Draw singles will be played each day. Two rounds of Consolation begin on Tuesday. Doubles (single elimination) draws will be posted Sunday, June 17th, by 9 am.

From downtown Atlanta take I-20 west to Thornton Road (north, i.e. turn right) From Atlanta Airport take Camp Creek Parkway. (west, the only way it goes) From I-285 southwest of Atlanta take Camp Creek Parkway (west, left if going north on I-285). Practice Courts at Darlington School
Darlington School has graciously offered their courts for practice for Southern Closed players. Remember, this prestigious school is ALLOWING you to use THEIR courts. Be considerate of their generosity by conducting yourself as ladies and gentlemen with propriety and modesty. Be careful not to leave litter, trash, and drink containers on the premises. If you can abide by these requests, the directions from Rome Floyd Tennis Center are:
Turn RIGHT out of tennis center onto W. 3rd. Go 0.1 mile to dead end. Turn LEFT onto Hwy 101 (2nd Ave.) Go approximately 1.6 miles to Stop Sign. Go STRAIGHT 0.6 mile to US Hwy 27 South (sign says Gadsden - Cedartown) Go approximately 0.9 mile to Darlington Drive-Old Lindale Road exit. At end of Exit ramp turn LEFT. Sunday Morning Chapel Service
A 15-20-minute non-denominational chapel service will be held at Rome Floyd Tennis Center on Sunday at 7:30 a.m.. The courts will be open by 6:30 for warm-up. Play at satellite sites will begin 8:30 to permit everyone who wishes to attend the service
