2016 10U GREEN BALL SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - PLAYERS MUST QUALIFY TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER
* This is a 2-day Section-wide Championship for 10U players using green balls in singles and doubles. * Replaces the existing 10U division played during the June Bobby Curtis State Singles Championship and the September Doubles

CRITERIA FOR PLAYER SELECTION
1) Player qualifies to play in the 10U Championship
by being the winner or finalist in one of 16 designated Level 6 USTA Florida
tournaments held between January and September 12 .
2) If less than 32 players are eligible by being a
winner or finalist in criteria above, alternate players may be invited with the most green ball match wins from January -September 2016. These players will be contacted and invited individually. A public ranking list will not be published.
3) Players must meet age eligibility requirement for
tournament.
4) Players may participate even if they have
progressed to the yellow ball in the USTA Florida Youth Progression Pathway.
5) Florida residents only.

FORMAT
1)
Played on a 78’ full size court

Use green dot canned balls
3)
Draws are 32 for singles, compass draw; doubles
is a Round Robin format. For doubles, players will be randomly partnered and alternate partners each round. All
singles players will play doubles.
4)
Scoring for singles is Best of 3 short sets. The best of 3 short sets with a 7-Point Tiebreak played in lieu of the
3rd set.. A short set whereby the first player to win 4 games wins
the set.
If players are
tied at 4 – 4, the 7-point Tiebreak is played. no ad scoring until the semifinals Doubles scoring: 1 set no ad scoring. 7 point tiebreak at 5 -5. Tiebreak is win by 1.

Hotel Stipend
A
$100 hotel room stipend will be given to players that check-in at the Florida
Tennis Center before 6:00pm on Friday night that live outside a 60 mile radius. Players need to send their hotel receipt after the tournament to wood@ustaflorida.com with their name and address.

Friday Night Player Checkin
Friday Night Pizza Party and Education Session! Come for the fun the night before the Championship! Friday, October 21st! Courts will be open for practice from 12 Noon to dusk (no lights) Check-in - Early check-in for players 4:00 - 7:00 pm (highly recommended) Player education session held by Jose Caballero (See bio below). 5:30pm- 6pm Cardio Tennis for all players (College players to join in) 6pm-7pm Parent education session "Navigating the Junior Tennis Pathway as a Parent" by Jose Cabellero 6pm-6:45pm College players from Embry Riddle University and Rollins College will be present PIZZA PARTY! 6:45pm- 7:30pm
Jose Caballero is currently the Coordinator of Coaching Education for USTA Player Development. In his role he supports coaches working with our countries best players by providing educational resources, workshops and hands on learning opportunities with the goal to help coaches improve their coaching skills both on and off the court. Prior to joining the USTA Jose Caballero was the Director for the JC Tennis Academy located at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Boca Raton. Prior to directing his academy he was the Head Coach for Blackman Tennis Academy. Caballero a native of Puerto Rico, served the tennis community of Puerto Rico in many roles including, Lead Performer for USTA Target market initiative, building tennis programs around the island, and ITF tournament director for 7 years. Have been coaching for 17 years, two times Junior Davis Cup Team who competed in the Americas World Cup Qualifying Group. USTA National Trainer and part of the USTA Faculty Coaches. 2015 USTA Florida Competitive Coach of year and part of the USTA Florida Coaches Commission. Graduated from North Georgia Collage State University, with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Wellness and Fitness.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
