5/24 6:45 am Play Schedule and Play
It is not currently raining and the weather is not predicting any significant change of rain in the near future. Therefore, we must attempt to play outdoors today. However, due the nature of the weather and how wet the courts are, we do not believe they will dry in a reasonable amount of time to get in a full days schedule. Therefore,we have decided to take the doubles matches that were scheduled this morning and put them INDOORS at OU. While we are playing doubles at OU, David and Marc will be working on courts and watching the weather and assessing the singles. Please see the next note for your doubles schedule. BOYS - Please note that you are playing doubles at OU as well - Do NOT drive to Oak Tree. :)
|
INDOOR DOUBLES SCHEDULE - UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
All boys doubles matches will now be played at 9 am at OU. The following girls doubles matches will be played at 9 am at OU - Braeden/Kuutilla vs Gillas/ Zein and Gonzalez/Kim vs Anzo/Aragon. The following girls doubles matches will be the next available courts (check in by 9:30 am) - Hurley/Nice vs Jones/Quevedo and Adams/Hwang vs Guevara/Henry. Please note that since the club is not being staffed we can get in earlier than 9 am. I will try to be there as quick as I can but absolutely no later than 8:30 am. So there will be courts available for a quick warmup. Also, if we could get some doubles matches willing to start earlier than 9 am that would be very helpful for the remainder of the day and I would appreciate it very much. Lisa Minihan 405-413-7357

Indoor Facility Message - Please Read
We, unfortunately, have to relay that there was a tremendous amount of disrespect shown to our indoor backup facilities today. I want to let everyone know that this tournament does not belong to OU, Oak Tree, or WillowCreek. They are serving as indoor backup at the request of the Minihans because they believe this tournament is an important one and because they want everyone to have a good experience with Oklahoma tennis. All 3 facilities are substantially discounting their court fees to our players. We realize you already paid a substantial entry for this tournament but that does not cover indoor backup. We could have sat today out and not played the rounds and possibly not finished the tournament. However, the overwhelming response from most players that pay money to come all the way here is that they prefer to play the discounted indoor court fee and actually get to play some matches. That is why we post our indoor plan online before the registration deadline so that you don't select our site if you disagree with this option. With that being said, the indoor sites are being extremely gracious to turn away their members and give us their courts for a discounted rate. We, in return, expect our tournament players to be extremely respectful of these sites and their staff members. We expect you to keep the facility clean, to minimize the effect of a large presence at the site and to polite to the staff members. Typically with any national tournaments we have run, this has been the case. But today, there were reports of bathrooms trashed, complaints and other issues. If we go indoors tomorrow, please be grateful for these facilities and the service they are offering to you. Please treat their buildings and their courts with the respect they deserve. Without their help this weekend, you would not be able to complete this tournament with the rain patterns that are occurring across this portion of the United States. Thank you - David and Lisa Minihan

WEATHER UPDATE FOR SUNDAY - May 23 8pm
It looks like nasty rain again for tomorrow. Our next update will be at 7am Sunday. EVERYONE needs to check this update. VERY IMPORTANT! All times are subject to change including outdoor late morning matches moving indoors at an earlier time. All times will be changed if moved indoors. In addition, singles will probably be played before doubles! Everything is subject to change, so check back at 7am Sunday!

SCORING
Scoring has been adjusted for Day 1 to a match tie break for the 3rd set for singles
|
INDOOR PLAN IN ACTION 5/23 AM 7:08 AM
We have decided with the mist and the overcast conditions that the courts will not dry. In addition, there is 100% of chance of rain later today and all day tomorrow. We feel if we do not move indoors right now, we run the risk of getting behind and not completing the tournament. Therefore, even though we have not heard back from the national junior comp office we are making a decision to go with our indoor plan. Any scoring format change WILL have to be approved by the junior comp office so we will continue to wait to hear back on that. Your site director will let you know when you check in for your indoor match. I will post more notes with your indoor information.
|
Saturday Indoor Play Schedule Update

Check your line # on your draw to find your site. Check the body of the note to find out when
you are to report to play. Please contact
your site director if you do not understand the information. Each match will be $10 per player. Please try to have exact change at the beginning of each match.

Girls 16s (Lines 1-20) – University of Oklahoma (OU) IndoorSchedule of Play
OU is requesting that we play around member reservations. So
it is hard to create a firm schedule without knowing court availability. We are requesting that the following players

were scheduled later: Hwang, Tedford, Bou, Alda, Anzo, Gonzalez, Henry and
Braeden. All other matches are to follow
in order of draw. It is your responsibility

and ready to play. All other matches

Weather Update 5/23 6:38 am
The courts are currently soaked and there is a mist coming down that makes us concerned we will not be able to get the courts dry. We are currently trying to make contact with the National USTA Jr Competition office in order to get approval on a decision whether or not to go indoors and any scoring format change we might have to make if we do. Until we get a call back, we cannot post a final decision here. Thank you for your patience. We are anxious as you to get this tournament started. Regardless courts will not be playable at 8 so feel free to let your player sleep until the next update.
|
OU Indoor Information - Practice Courts
There will be NO practice courts at the OU facility if we move indoors. The club will not open until 9 am and we will take every court available at 9 am when it opens for actual matches. I realize this is different than your traditional match prep but just remember, your opponent hasn't warmed up either. Please just be creative with your warmup off a tennis court and be ready to play your match when the door open at OU.
|
5/22 Update - Please read notes below as well: Registration and Weather
If you are not coming to Westwood Tennis Center today for registration, we need you to call 405-366-8859 as soon as possible and give us the best phone number to reach you at when you are here for the tournament. With all the weather forecast issues, we need to be able to reach anyone at anytime. Please keep an eye on this website. It is VERY likely we will be moving indoors tomorrow - if we make that decision early tomorrow morning we will post that information here FIRST. If play begins indoors tomorrow morning, the first matches scheduled will be at 9 am. The boys indoor site will be Oak Tree Country Club - please note this is a 45 minute drive from Westwood Tennis Center but it is a fabulous facility and you will have everything you need there - including a restaurant, showers, locker rooms, etc. The girls will be split between the University of Oklahoma and Willow Creek Country Club so girl players need to watch very closely and make sure you go to the correct site. Willow Creek and Oak Tree both have restaurants that will be available to our players. All indoor girls doubles matches will be played at the University of Oklahoma. We will keep updating as decisions progress.

WEEKEND WEATHER UPDATE
We have had significant rain this month, and there is still quite a bit of rain in the forecast for this next weekend. If we run into enough rain that will feel we are in danger of not completing the tournament, we will move matches indoors. Matches played indoors will cost the players $10 per match. The charges will need to be paid in cash and paid with exact change. Please make sure you have cash for several matches in hand if rain is in the forecast. We are very appreciative of the clubs that are allowing us to use their indoors, and we want to make the exchange of court fees very convenient for their staff. The following facilities MAY be used in the event that we move indoors: University of Oklahoma Headington Family Tennis Center (OU), 500 W, Imhoff, Norman, OK 73019. 405-325-6139; Willow Creek Country Club (WC), 6501 S. Country Club Dr., Oklahoma City, OK 73159, 405-680-4724; Oak Tree Country Club (OT), 700 W. Country Club Dr., Edmond, OK 73025, 405-341-3978. Players playing at OU will be required to fill out a university waiver before the walk on court. Willow Creek and Oak Tree are both outside of Norman, and players need to allow adequate drive time to arrive for matches. If excessive weather delays occur, the tournament staff will consult with USTA Junior Competition to discuss any uses of adjusted scoring formats. As a staff we will do everything possible to communicate any rain delays or site changes as quickly and as clearly as possible. Any weather updates will posted on this website immediately - before it is communicated by phone or in person - so the website is your best bet to check. It is our goal to get all matches played regardless of weather obstacles and to get everyone back home on schedule. We appreciate your help, cooperation and patience even if the weather is less than ideal.

Ordered Alternate Lists
We have published the alternate lists for both the boys and girls singles. Due to the large number of alternates we only ordered those in the top 500 of 16s standings list or the top 400 of 14s standings list. The 4/22 standings list was used. If you are not numbered, it is because you fall below this criteria. If for some reason we go through the list at a significant pace, we will order the remaining players. Any late entries will not appear online yet. They fall below those who signed up in time. We would have to exhaust the list online before a late entry becomes ordered. The alternate list will be updated as soon as we have any withdrawals from the main draw. If the alternate list is not being updated, you can assume with have not had a withdrawal.
