Thank you to all the players for
three days of incredible tennis, and for exhibiting such great
sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Of the MANY possible
recipients, Austin Bates-Marietta, Georgia- was selected by
tournament officials and staff to receive this year's Sportsmanship
Award. Great job, Austin!
INDIVIDUAL FIRST MATCH TIMES can be viewed
by clicking on the above link, under 'Tournament Reports'. Please
read the information below regarding player registration for the
tournament. Players can register from 6-8pm on Thursday
(Thanksgiving Day) or at least one hour prior to your first
scheduled match on Friday. If you have not yet confirmed your
doubles participation and partner, please do so as soon as possible
(see doubles information below). We are now taking reservations for
practice courts. Please see the information below.
OPTIONAL EARLY PLAYER REGISTRATION - There
is no player meeting required for this tournament, however, all
players must officially 'register' for the tournament prior to
their first scheduled match. We will be offering an optional early
player registration period on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), November
22, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. When registering, players will need to
provide a completed MEDICAL RELEASE FORM (we will have forms
available, or click on the link further down this page to print out
a copy to complete and bring with you). We will also ask for local
contact information and the name of the hotel you are staying at,
and will give you a tournament t-shirt and a Player Program.
NOTE-In lieu of a player meeting, players are responsible for
reading and understanding the information in the Player Program. IF
YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO MAKE THE OPTIONAL EARLY REGISTRATON ON
THURSDAY, YOU WILL NEED TO SEE THE TOURNAMENT DESK ON FRIDAY
MORNING AT LEAST ONE HOUR PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST SCHEDULED MATCH SO
THAT WE CAN GET YOU PROPERLY REGISTERED FOR THE TOURNAEMNT. The
tournament desk will open at 9am on Friday.
PRACTICE COURT RESERVATIONS - For practice
court reservations for Thursday (November 22) and Friday (November
23) please call 989-631-6151 identify yourself as a National Open
tournament player. Practice court rate is $22 per hour and advance
payment is required (we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover).
Please see below for the hours of operation for the Thanksgiving
Holiday weekend. There will not be any refunds for late
cancellations and/or no shows.
HOURS OF OPERATION: Wednesday, November 21,
8am-9pm. Thursday, November 22, 9am-1pm and then in the evening
from 5-8pm. Friday, November 23, 8am-9pm. Saturday, November 24,
8am-9pm. Sunday, November 25, 8am-9pm.
The following area restaurants
will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Please call to confirm hours and
prices, and to make a reservation, if necessary. Cafe Zinc at The H
Hotel--this is an exceptional restaurant! (111 W. Main

will also be open all day on Thanksgiving Day for food, groceries

DRAW - The draw will be posted on
this site and at the tennis center at 5pm on Thursday, November
22.

The ORDERED ALTERNATE LIST can be
viewed by clicking on the link above. IMPORTANT - 1) If you want to
remain on the alternate list, please e-mail the tournament director
as soon as possible to confirm your availability and to give us all
current contact information so that we can contact you quickly if a
spot opens up. If we cannot contact alternates quickly we will have
to go to the next alternate on the list. 2) If you are not
available as an alternate, or if at any time you accept a spot into
another National Open tournament/location, please e-mail the
tournament director as soon as possible so that we can remove your

WHAT TO DO IF YOU PLAN TO PLAY
DOUBLES - All players selected for singles are eligible to play
doubles but you need to e-mail the tournament director to confirm
that you planning to play doubles and to confirm your partner, or
to request help in finding a partner. Please e-mail Wendy Franz at
franz@midlandtennis.com to confirm your doubles participation. If
you need help finding a partner we will be happy to assist- to
facilitate the process, please give us current contact information
and permission to forward your information to potential doubles
partners. We will not give out personal contact information without
permission from the player. Once you have confirmed your doubles
participation we will add your name (and your partner's name if you
have one) to the doubles event and your name will show up on the
list of doubles players.
DRAW - The draw will be made at
noon on Sunday, November 18, at the Midland Community Tennis
Center
TOURNAMENT BALL - The Wilson
Extra Duty Hard Court tennis ball will be used for this
tournament.
TOURNAMENT PROGRAM - Each player
will receive a Tournament Program when they register for the
tournament. In lieu of a player meeting, this Tournament Program
will contain helpful and important tournament information, and each
player will be responsible for reading that information prior to
the start of the tournament.
MEDICAL RELEASE FORM - All players need to have a
Medical Release Form (signed by the player and a parent or legal
guardian) on file with the tournament PRIOR to the player's first

TOURNAMENT WITHDRAWALS &
ENTRY FEE REFUNDS
ALL withdrawal requests AFTER the
entry deadline must be made in writing by e-mail to Wendy Franz,
Tournament Director, at franz@midlandtennis.com. Requests must
include player name, USTA number, a detailed reason for the
withdrawal, mailing address, and phone number. AFTER THE DRAW HAS
BEEN MADE: 1)Withdrawal requests due to injury or illness will also
require written verification from a medical professional, to be
e-mailed or faxed to the tournament director no later than 12:00
p.m. Noon on Sunday, November 25, 2012. 2) Withdrawal requests due
to personal circumstance will require a written deion of the
situation to be e-mailed or faxed to the tournament director no
later than 12:00 p.m. Noon on Sunday, November 25, 2012. The
tournament Referee shall determine whether the situation is a
personal circumstance. Tournament director e-mail address is

be any entry fee refunds for withdrawals received after 12:00 p.m.

USTA NATIONAL LEVEL 2
TOURNAMENT
For ranking purposes, this is a
USTA National Level 2 Tournament. The DRAW SIZE will be 32 for
singles and 16 for doubles. This tournament will feature a feed-in
consolation (FIC) and a 3rd-4th place playoff for the singles draw.
The scoring format for Main Draw Singles will be the best of three
tiebreak sets. The scoring format for the FIC matches will be the
best of three tie-break sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu
of a 3rd set. Players losing in any main draw singles round through
the quarterfinals will be entered in the FIC. Play in the FIC is
mandatory, as is the 3rd-4th place playoff. Doubles scoring format
will be an 8-game pro-set with a match tiebreak (first to 10, ahead
by 2) at 8-games all. Doubles will be single elimination and will
have a 3rd-4th place playoff. All matches will be played at the
Midland Community Tennis Center/900 E. Wackerly Street/Midland,
Michigan 48642. Please click on the link further down this page to

DRAW Finals and Third-Fourth Playoff, SINGLES FIC CONSOLATION DRAW
Quarterfinals and Semifinals (the Consolation Finals will not be
played), DOUBLES Finals and Third-Fourth Playoff.
DRESS CODE
Players will be expected to wear
appropriate tennis attire befitting a national level tournament
during all tennis matches. Any player not meeting the dress code
will be asked to change before going on the court. No tank tops or
sleeveless shirts that are not designed specifically for tennis by
sports manufacturers. Boxer shorts must not show above or below
shorts.

The Midland Community Tennis
Center has a nationally-recognized full-service pro shop,
"Advantage", that offers stringing, racquets, shoes, apparel, and
other items. The pro shop will be open during tournament hours.
Racquet stringing is $15.00 with your own string, prevailing rate
without. Personal stringing machines are not allowed in the tennis
center building.
