for a different date.
---ATTENTION TOURNAMENT PLAYERS/PARENTS
Tournament directors do not have access to phone numbers and email
addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS the player
re-enters their contact information at the time of event
registration. This means that if a player does not enter their
phone and email information each time they register for a
tournament, the tournament director will NOT be able to
contact them for any reason, including withdrawals, defaults, byes,
rain delays etc. Your cooperation will ensure that tournaments can
continue to communicate necessary information to you. Thank

1) Deadlines:
Tournament Registration Deadline -
Monday, June 10th 11:59 PM (Arizona Time).
If you register and need a doubles partner please make sure to tell
us that you need one after you sign-up.
2) Entering Multiple Divisions:
You may play a maximum of TWO of the following divisions: Singles,
Men's or Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. All adult & senior
age divisions, NTRP levels (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5), and Open divisions
offered. You cannot play in two singles divisions, nor two doubles
divisions, nor two mixed doubles divisions. If you want to do two
events you can do either (singles&mixed, or
singles&doubles, or doubes&mixed)
3) Doubles Information If You Have a Partner: When
registering online, please indicate your desired partner's name or
USTA number (preferred) on the registration form, and we will pair
you up in the selected division. Please ensure both teammates are
registered by the tournament deadline in order for your
registration to be accepted.
Combined Mixed NTRP Levels are as follows: As long as the
SUM of the two players NTRP level fall equal to or below the NTRP
being entered, you and your partner will be eligible for that
combined NTRP division. Combined 6.0 NTRP = (3.0 Player + 3.0
Player) OR (2.5 Player + 3.5 PlayerCombined 7.0 NTRP = (3.5 Player
+ 3.5 Player OR (3.0 Player + 4.0 Player)
Combined 8.0 NTRP = (4.0 Player + 4.0 Player) OR (3.5 Player + 4.5
Player)
4) Doubles Information If You Need a Partner: In order to
give the tournament committee adequate time to assign partners and
create draws, please register at minimum one week before the
deadline. When registering, please indicate that you would like a
doubles partner assigned to you.
5) Draw and Match Formats: Draws will be made to include a
first-match loser's consolation bracket. If there are 4
participants or fewer in a division, a round-robin format will be
implemented.
MAIN DRAW MATCHES (Singles, Doubles, & Mixed Doubles): Best 2
out of 3 sets, with a match tiebreak to 10 points (win by 2) in
lieu of a third set.
CONSOLATION BACK DRAW MATCHES (Singles, Doubles, & Mixed
Doubles):: Collegiate format 8-game pro set with a 7-point tiebreak
at 8 games all.
*** Match Formats are subject to change based on number of players
in a division and weather conditions.
*Players will be emailed information before the tournament with
greater detail for scoring
6) Date And Time For Draw To Be Made And Posted
Draw is to be done on Sunday June 9th and draws will be posted on
Monday June 10th by 9pm. All players are instructed to check in at
the Mesa Tennis Center at least 15 minutes prior to all scheduled
match times.
7) Late Entries Policy:
Late entries to the Mesa City
Championship will be considered only if the draw permits and if we
haven't already made the draw. Please make every attempt to
register by the tournament deadline.
8) Withdrawal/Entry Fee Refund Policy
After Entry Deadline: As a courtesy to other players, please
contact the tournament director as soon as possible if you must
withdraw. If you withdraw after the tournament deadline of Friday
June 7th there are no refunds.
9) Check-In:
Please check in with the tournament desk
at least 30 minutes prior to your first match time. For all
subsequent matches, please check in at least 15 minutes prior to
the match time.
10) Tournament Schedule ***(Schedule is tentative and subject to
change)***
Generally, singles matches are played in the morning, doubles
matches are played towards the afternoon, and mixed doubles into
the evening. All divisions are scheduled to have matches Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday. If you have any schedule conflicts between
7am and 10pm on Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the three days of the
tournament please email Meghan.Houk@mesaaz.gov your schedule
request by Friday June 7th and we will do our best to accommodate
them. Please note it may not be able to accommodate all requests.
11) Practice Courts:
Courts will be available each day
one hour before the tournament starts. Once the tournament begins,
practice courts will be limited and based on availability (usually
there will be no courts available but we do have a hitting wall).
If you are looking to practice at the facility prior to the 21st we
can get tournament players a court that week for $6 per hour just
email Meghan.Houk@mesaaz.gov to reserve that.
12) Tournament Sites: The tournament will take place at the
Mesa Tennis Center, address is: 4125 East McKellips Road, Mesa, AZ
85215. Courts are located at Gene Autry Park.
13) Racquet Stringing:
Our stringer will be onsite at
Mesa Tennis Center during the duration of the tournament. We do
carry some string in stock and we can also restring your racket if
you have your own string.

15) Photography:
The tournament staff will be
wandering the grounds to capture the action at this year's Mesa
City Championship. Photos will be posted to the City of Mesa Parks
and Recreation Facebook page!
16) Tournament Ball:
We will provide a new can of Pro Penn
tennis balls (subject to change) at the beginning of every
match.
17) Seeding Method:
Tournament seeding, if applicable, will be made by the tournament
committee. We may look at performance in past events, USTA
Southwest rankings lists, and UTR information.

Average
temperature in Mesa in June is a high of 103 and a low of 69. Be
sure to drink plenty of water during and in between matches! In the
event of inclement weather(rain), we will be posting updates on
both this Tennislink tournament page and the voice message on our
pro shop phone line at (480) 644-3874. Please don't assume anything
