It is very important to enter your contact information at the time you sign up. If you have forgotten to do this, please withdraw and re-enter giving this information. If you do not do this, the TD may not be able to contact you. The entry deadline for this tournament is very strict. You MUST enter before the published deadline for singles. If you do not have your partner's agreement DO NOT enter with that person. SIMPLY enter the singles and have your partner enter you as their partner when they sign up. YOU CAN SAVE $3 BY SIMPLY SENDING A SEPARATE EMAIL WITH WHO YOUR PARTNER IS AFTER SIGNING UP FOR SINGLES!! If you have their agreement you can access their usta number by clicking the following link to get it. You should enter them as your partner at the time you sign up, so get their USTA number this way first! GET A USTA NUMBER.

DOUBLES INFORMATION CONT...
If you do not have a partner and would like to be paired up randomly by the tournament, simply email the TD at the email address above and give him the following information: 1. The subject heading should read "Fall Jr Tourney/ Doubles Need Partner" 2. The body of the email should have the Players Name, Age Division and Level (CHALLENGER or NOVICE). If you are waiting to see who enters the tournament, you will see who has entered by the deadline. Check the competitor lists periodically. The tournament will allow any players entered in the tournament to contact each other to get agreement. The deadline for getting your own partner and emailing the TD with that information will be extended 24 hours after the sign-up deadline. If you are willing to be paired up by the tournament, you MUST EMAIL the TD before the deadline. If you happen to get a partner after the deadline, you will have 24 hours to e-mail the tournament director this information.

CHALLENGER OR NOVICE/ WHICH ONE TO ENTER?
There is a big difference between signing up for the Open, Challenger, or Novice. Please check the competitor list before the deadline to make sure you have signed up correctly. Once draws are published, it will be too late to switch. If you need an immediate response regarding which level to enter, please call Tommy Tu at the USTA Norcal office. The Norcal number is 510 748-7373 and a link to their email is right here. If you can wait, email the TD above and expect a response in a timely manner. This is very important to play the correct level for your ability and there often times is more than one correct answer. The first person to ask is your coach.

EVENT DRAW FORMATS - AT LEAST TWO MATCHES IF YOU PLAY SINGLES AND DOUBLES
ALL PLAYERS are allowed to play singles and doubles. This way they get two matches guaranteed. In NOVICE events, one set round robins may be implemented. Since draw sizes are typically smaller in Novices this may be done in lieu of that possibility for all novice players. ALL singles events that have 3 players will use a ROUND ROBIN format, with 4 entrants or more there will be 3rd/4th playoff match for semi final non-winners in CHALLENGER or OPEN only. All players MUST follow instructions above regarding doubles before signing up.

A MESSAGE FROM THE REFEREE REGARDING LATENESS- PLEASE READ!!
Lateness for tournament matches has been an increasing problem over the last year. this message will outline the norcal policies to which this tournament will strictly adhere: 1) it is the player’s responsibility, not that of the tournament, to know the time and location of each of his/her matches. failure to check in at the proper site at the proper time for a match will result in penalties as described below. showing up on time but at the wrong site will no longer be acceptable - nor will lateness because you have trouble finding the site. directions to the site are provided elsewhere on this page. be sure to allow yourself sufficient time to make it to your match. 2) lateness penalties are as follows: 0:00 to 5:00 minutes -1 game and loss of toss. 5:01 to 10:00 minutes - 2 games and loss of toss. 10:01 to 15:00 minutes - 3 games and loss of toss. over 15:00 minutes - default. this policy can be found in the norcal jr. handbook and in the usta friend at court (fac - available for purchase on the usta national website). note that usta-norcal has adopted the rule that the tournament does not have to have an empty court available in order to start the lateness clock - this deviates from the national rule found in the fac. the referee's clock is the official tournament clock for lateness purposes. 3) defaults for lateness will result in the assessment of 1 suspension point. no-show defaults will result in the assessment of 5 suspension points and automatic suspension from all tournament play for one month, in accordance with the rules of the suspension point penalty system. (a no-show is when the player does not show up for the match and has not notified the tournament that they will not appear). these points are separate from, and in addition to, the lateness penalties described above and any other penalties assessed under the point penalty system (refer to the jr.handbook or the fac for more details). 4) these rules will apply to everyone. it does not matter if you are an 18's open player or a 10's novice player playing in your very first tournament - if you are late, you will be penalized. there are two, and only two, exceptions: if the lateness is the result of tournament error (e.g. the wrong time or place is posted on-line) or if there is a verifiable traffic situation (e.g. a major accident that closes a highway. normal commute or construction traffic is not an excuse). no other excuses will be accepted. in the event your match is delayed because your or your opponent's earlier match is delayed or goes long, or because of an official delay, you will be given a new match time - you will not be held to the original match time in this case. 5) match times and locations can change at any time during the tournament, especially when inclement weather is a factor. although the tournament strives to keep to the original schedule, this is not always possible. therefore, it is imperative that you check the on-line draws on the tournament website every day. do not assume that your match time has not changed from the last time you checked. these rules are in place to make the tournament as fair as possible for all players. showing up late for your match is unfair to your opponent and can have a significant negative effect on the progression of play, delaying everyone's matches. a no-show is considered to be extremely unsportsmanlike, as evidenced by the severe penalties given. these rules apply to all matches, including consolation and 3rd/4th playoff matches - if the tournament includes these matches, you are required to play them. make sure you know when and where your next match is before leaving the site. if you have any questions regarding these policies, the on-site official will be happy to explain them further. thank-you for your attention, and i look forward to seeing all of you out on the courts!
