High School Champions McIntosh (Boys) and Blessed Trinity (Girls)
Congratulations to the boys from McIntosh (Champions) and North Cobb Orange Crush (Finalists) as well as to the girls from Blessed Trinity Thunder (Champions) and Etowah Aces (Finalists). Special notice should also go to the girls from Mill Creek, who missed their spot in the finals by .01 percentage points in a tie-break for their flight. Great tennis, everyone! Points
We are aware of some inconsistencies with the points from the November tournaments and are working on those. This is a hybrid tournament - part team, part individual - and many of our rules (such as allowing captains to juggle lineups from one round to the next) fall in between the normal calculations for both kinds of events. If you won your event but didn't get all the points - we're working on it. If you were in several events and got more than 330 (or 220) points ... don't expect to keep them. Adjustments are being made and will be reflected in the standings the week of December 7th. Thanks for your patience and for letting us know specific examples.

Weather update Sat 6:15 am
Great news: no rain on the ground currently nor in the forecast anymore! Come play tennis!!
|
|
Weather plan posted as of Friday 5 pm
The forecast for Macon currently calls for cold (40s) all day tomorrow, with a 30% chance of rain in the early morning hours, ending ~ 8 am. With that forecast, none of our planned times change as of now. I will check the weather when I get up in the AM (6:00) and will post an update by 7:30 if necessary. Courts will open for warmup at JDS at 8 am, one hour prior to the first round. We may be a bit delayed to start the day, but the remainder of the day Saturday and all day Sunday look excellent - we'll catch up! Please check this website for updates before calling my cell. I will ONLY speak with captains - not individual players or parents. Thanks for your patience and understanding - can't wait to see some great tennis this weekend! Bonnie

HS Boys State Draws
The High School Boys are in two flight of 4 teams, so everyone will play 3 matches, followed by a playoff between the winners of the two flights. The plan will be for 2 rounds on Saturday, with one round plus the playoff on Sunday. FIRST MATCH TIMES: Sat 10:30 Houston vs McIntosh. Sat 12:00 Valdosta vs Walton Baseliners, Colquitt vs Starr's Mill, North Cobb vs Walton Killer Bees. I will email the captains the complete schedule no later than Monday, 11/30.

HS Girls State Draws
We have nine teams in the Girls tournament, so one flight has five teams and one has four teams. That means that one team has a BYE every round in the Red flight, and it will take five rounds to play everyone. No team has more than four matches but the BYE makes things draw out. So ... the Red flight will play 3 rounds on Saturday and two rounds on Sunday. The White flight will play 2 rounds on Saturday and one round on Sunday. The playoff between the winners of the two flights will be on Sunday. FIRST MATCH TIMES: RED flight: 9 am Northview vs Starr's Mill, Colquitt vs Mill Creek, Etowah BYE. WHITE FLIGHT 10:30 Blessed Trinity vs McIntosh, Oconee vs Dodge. I will email the captains the complete schedule no later than Monday, 11/30.

Names in various positions are merely placeholders for your team
Captains - please make sure you understand (and tell your parents!) that the players listed in various positions (example, SG 1 or DB 2) are simply placeholders for your team as I do the flights and draws. You have complete discretion to arrange your lineup as needed except that doubles pairs must be replaced as a team - if you switch partners in the midst of the event, it replaces prior rounds of play with the new partner. I simply went through the girls' rosters, listing them in order on the various lines. Some of you listed your players alphabetically, others numerically, others with your own child first, others by grade level, others in no particular order. I am NOT attempting to guess what your lineups will be but simply have a player from each school in each position so that I can do the rest of the work. The boys' rosters reflect a sample lineup from the region tournament but again are not binding on the captain.

Entry Fee $200 for HS Boys teams
Entry fee for the high school boys teams advancing to State is $200, payable by check or credit card (MC/V) at the close of the Regional Tournaments on November 22nd. (Last year's entry fee included both tournaments - but was $400 for everyone. This year, we separated the two entry fees for Region and State). The $250 entry fee paid by all middle school teams and high school girls teams covers the state entry fee, plus the administrative fee for setting up all the teams, coordinating the captain's meetings, etc. There is no additional fee for the middle school or high school girls teams - but no refund due, either.

Individual results from the MS Tournament
Something weird is going on with the doubles. It looks right when I enter the pairings and scores in the system, but when it shows up on the website, partners are missing and all sorts of other strange things are showing up. I have DELETED all the doubles results that I had entered for Saturday, and will work on this (with tech support if necessary) tomorrow and/or Monday. Don't worry - I have the correct information and will get it online ASAP. I had planned to get all of the doubles figured out and in the system today - but instead traveled to Peachtree City in order for our Middle School Finals to play on the indoor courts. I will work on this after work on Monday and/or Tuesday - appreciate your patience.

SAT on December 5th
It has come to my attention that the SAT is being offered on Dec 5th, during the state finals. IF you have a player who must take the test, I will work with you to the best of my ability to schedule around the time SO LONG AS THE PLAYER TAKES THE TEST IN MACON and YOU MUST LET ME KNOW OF THIS SCHEDULING NEED during the regional event (no later than 11/22/09). Macon test centers include Mercer University 11535, Macon State College 11531, and WestSide High School 11892. These are listed in order of proximity to the JDS Tennis Center, but none are more than 15 minutes away.
