Withdrawal, Walkover, and Retirement Procedure for Champ Major Zones
Over the last 12 months there has been a significant increase in withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements. Players registered for an event that withdraw from that event after Wednesday (3 days prior to the start of the event) at 12 noon or that provide a walkover to their opponent or retire from a match will be assessed 2 points in the suspension point system. If a player reaches 10 points within a 12 month period they will be eligible for suspension and will have the right to an appeal process. During this appeal process, which only happens if a player reaches 10 points, the player will be given the opportunity to explain and/or provide any additional information/evidence. No information/evidence will be considered or accepted prior to the player reaching 10 points. If what is provided is deemed to have merit and the withdrawal, walkover, or retirement to be justified the committee will immediately remove the points for that particular incident and the suspension will be nullified. Please know that the objective of this procedure is not to penalize but to track withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements. There is a maximum of 2 points that can be assessed to a player during a particular tournament even in the case that that player was to retire from a match in progress and then award a walkover in the next match to his/her opponent.

Clarification on Eligibility
Only Champ qualified players and eligible re-qualifying Super Champ players are allowed to compete in this event. Players who are registered for the Arlington CMZ as of the deadline will not be accepted into this tournament. Players who qualified for Champs from Challengers earlier in August are not eligible. The first CMZ a newly qualified player can play in is the month after qualification

First-off Consolation – All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates “maybe matches” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players that lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This new format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.

USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online registration has closed. If a player misses the registration deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that tournament
|
Registration Confirmation: As a parent or player it is your responsibility to assure registration in the event. Regardless if you register on the website or mobile app after completing the registration you should visit the USTA web driven site and confirm your registration by finding the player in the applicants list. If you select to skip this process please be aware that should any malfunctions of the system occur, players will not be granted late entrance in the event due to a system error.

No Selection Process. All registered players will be selected.
Entry to this tournament is open to specified residents only. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, August 9, 2018 11:59:00 PM Central Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
In the future, you can jump straight to this tournament by entering the tournament identification number: 800049818 from the searchable schedule homepage.
