New Withdrawal Penalty for Super Champ Level Tournaments
There will be no penalty for withdrawing from singles or doubles prior to Wednesday, June 6th at 12 Noon for Super Champ Level or Major Zone events. After that time, if a player withdraws from singles and/or doubles, they will be penalized 2 suspension points for the withdrawal. This includes any withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements after Wednesday, June 6th at Noon until the end of the tournament. The maximum penalty is 2 points per tournament. You will not be penalized twice for singles and doubles withdrawals. If a player does reach the suspension threshold, they will be able to appeal any points at that time.
|
Doubles Process and Tournament Timeline
For doubles, if one player in a team withdraws, the partner will have until Wednesday, June 6th at 12 Noon to find a new partner. After Wednesday at Noon, if the remaining player is left unpaired, they will be removed from the draw. After the Noon deadline, teams will be re-seeded into draws based on the updated combined Super Champ rankings of the final teams. Any withdrawal made after Wednesday at Noon results in the entire team being withdrawn. The Wednesday 12 Noon deadline gives the TD time to adjust both singles and doubles draws prior to the Thursday 6:00 PM draw posting.
If one partner in a doubles team pulls out of the tournament after 12 Noon on Wednesday, June 6th, only that player who is withdrawing receives suspension points, not the other partner. The entire team is withdrawn. First match times will be posted on Tuesday at 6PM. Singles and Doubles Draws will be posted on Thursday at 6PM.

The practice court situation might be
a little difficult the first 2 days. We ask for everyone to be cooperative and
understanding. Players, parents or coaches will not be allowed to “reserve”
practice courts or “hold” them at any time. Courts will be first come-first
serve.
And we ask is that if the practice
site is full and there are less than 4 players on a court that you allow
players waiting to join your court to have 3 or 4 players per court.
If weather permits, the tournament
will not be using Mann or Wylie middle schools after Monday and the remainder
of the middle schools after Tuesday so they will be available for practicing
and warming up after those times. Then as the week goes on the high school
courts will also be open for practicing and warming up.

Block Seeding for Singles
All age divisions will use block seeding. This means that the top 8,16 or 32 seeded players (depending on the number of entries in that particular event) will move out to the 2nd or 3rd round of the tournament. All seeded players will not necessarily be "blocked" seeded players. The remaining players will play 2-3 rounds to reach those seeded (blocked) players.
|
Seeding
While the most current standing list will be used primarily for seeding, some modifications may be made in seeding by the seeding committee based on "all factors".
|
Singles Schedule and Formats
The Texas Slam will be a Feed-In Consolation (FIC) through the quarter finals with a playoff for 3rd place. For those divisions that have 3 rounds of matches to reach the blocked players, play will begin on Saturday afternoon with one round of singles. The next two rounds of singles will be played on Sunday. All singles matches on Saturday and Sunday will be best of 3 sets with a 10 point match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set.
Singles continues on Monday with all of the blocked players beginning play against those players who have earned their way in the main draw to this round. From this point on, all main draw matches will play best of 3 sets with a full third set and all consolation (FIC) matches will be best of 3 sets with a 10 point match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set. From this point on, players in the main draw will play 1 singles match per day and players in the FIC will play up to 2 singles matches per day.
The finals of the smaller divisions will be scheduled for Friday, June 15th. For the larger divisions, finals will be scheduled for Saturday, June 16th. Sunday, June 17th is scheduled as a rain date.
|
Doubles Schedule and Formats
Doubles will begin on Sunday late afternoon. One round of doubles will be played on Sunday so teams with a bye may not have a match on Sunday. We will not use block seeding for doubles.
Doubles format will be an 8 game pro-set with ad scoring and a (7 point) set tie break at 8-all through the quarterfinals. Semi’s and finals of doubles will be best of 3 sets ad scoring with a 10 point match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set. Doubles will be single elimination.

Watch Out For Watches
Due to recent advances in watch technology, many watches now allow communication by texting or email. Just as cell phone use is prohibited on court, we are going to ask that players not wear any watches on court. Please do not be offended if you forget and go on court with a watch and are directed to remove it during play by tournament officials. If your watch or device is a medical necessity to monitor blood sugar levels as in the case of type 1 diabetes or you have another medical or ADA consideration, please inform he tournament director and referee at check in. Please be prepared to document the necessity.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
