EnteringTwo Divisions at USTA National Championship
The USTA Regulations prohibit a player from being entered, when entries close, in two or more tournaments if any part of the tournaments overlap, unless each Tournament Committee understands the situation and concurs in writing. There are exceptions to this rule on the national junior level.
The USTA National Championships, USTA National Sweet Sixteen, USTA National Selection Tournaments, Closed USTA Regional Tournaments, and Open USTA Regional Tournaments permit a player to enter more than one age division.
However, it is important to understand the consequences of this decision.
If you want to play in one of these tournaments, but are unsure if you will get in, you may enter up to two different age divisions. When selection is done, players are selected for the oldest age division first.
If you are selected into the older age division entered, you will not be selected into the younger age division.
If you are not selected into the older age division, you will only be considered for selection into the younger division and you will only be eligible to be an alternate in the younger division.
USTA NATIONAL JUNIOR WILD CARD INFORMATION
Number of Wild Cards
National Championships: Up to 8 wild cards may be awarded per
All wild card players must be eligible to enter the
tournament, be in good standing with the applicant's Sectional Association, and
may not be under suspension by the USTA. Applicants are not required to submit
timely entries into the tournament to be considered for a wild card.
Beginning in January 2014, the USTA began publishing the
criteria that will be used to select wild cards in Friend at Court. The
criteria is as follows:
* No player
that is under suspension by the USTA, a Sectional Association, the ITF,
the ITA, the WTA, or the ATP may be awarded a wild card.
* No player
who has a national standing below the standing of the first alternate may
be awarded a wild card unless, in the opinion of the Wild Card Committee,
the player will improve the overall strength of field of the tournament.
* No player
who submits a late wild card application may be considered. Timely entries
into the tournament are recommended, but are not required.
* A player
with an established record in international, professional, or collegiate
competition may be considered.
* A player
whose ability to qualify has been affected by injury, illness, or other
personal circumstance may be considered.
* A player
with a high standing in a younger age division of the event may be
* A player
with a high standing in the division of the event who was not endorsed by
their Sectional Association may be considered, provided that the player has
been recommended for a wild card by their Sectional Association.
* A player
who has been recommended for a wild card by the USTA National Coaching
Staff may be considered.
Wild Card Application:
Applications MUST be filed separately for each tournament
and received by the appropriate deadline (see below). Click the MORE INFO link to go to the online wild card application form.
Applications must be submitted online no later than 5:00
p.m. Eastern Time five (5) days after the entry deadline for the tournament for
which the wild card is sought. Early application is strongly encouraged.
Once the application deadline has passed, the USTA will
confirm the applicant's status with the Sectional Association. Shortly thereafter
the Wild Card Committee will meet to determine the wild card recipients. Only
those players selected to receive wild cards will be notified.
NOTE: The information above applies ONLY to wild cards for
USTA National Championships, USTA National Sweet Sixteens, and USTA National
Spring Team Championships. See the TennisLink Tournament Home Pages for
information on whether Wild Cards are available for USTA International
Tournaments and ITF Tournaments.
Late Entrants - players entering after the December 4th deadline at 11:59 am EST - will not be selected for the tournament. They are eligible to be placed on the Alternate List, but they will be placed at the bottom of the list in the order the late entry is received. Late Entrants have little to no chance of being accepted into the singles draw as the Alternate List typically consists of 50 to 150 players depending on the age division, and historically the tournament has approximately 10 Onsite Alternates per division. Late Entrants are eligible to enter doubles during Doubles Registration on December 26th but there is no guarantee you will make the doubles draw.

The Doubles Draw will be filled in that order. Players may play doubles only in the same age division that they are playing singles.
At 4:30 pm on Registration Day, a “Players Without Partners” Meeting will be held to match any players who do not have partners. The tournament is not responsible for matching a player with a partner. Entries will close promptly on December 26, 5pm.
***Please email the Tournament Director at BoilerSal@cox.net with your confirmed doubles partner***
Before the draw is made the tournament will replace a player who was accepted as part of a section's quota with the next available player on that section's endorsement list, and replace a player who was not accepted as part of a section's quota with the next highest remaining alternate. After the draw, tournament will replace a withdrawing player with the next highest remaining alternate. Tournament alternates may continue to look at the current list on www.usta.com, under the Reports tab. This list will be published on the website once the selection process has been completed which is usually within 3 to 5 days of the Entry Deadline.
***Please note: Alternate Lists are immediately updated as soon as we have a withdrawal no need to call and ask if there have been any withdrawals.***
An Onsite Alternate is a player whose name appears on the Alternate List and is on site in hope of getting into the tournament. All such players who intend to be Onsite Alternates need to participate in the tournament registration process on December 26th so that we know you will be on site. Please make sure to register at the Alternate Check-In desk. Replacement of withdrawing players continues as described above however identifying yourself as an Onsite Alternate will allow you to receive important tournament information and instruction on how to be available if an opening occurs in the draw at the last minute.
Withdrawals Prior to Entry Deadline: If entries have not yet closed, a player may withdraw by going to the tournament’s USTA TennisLink Home Page - the same web page that the player registered for the tournament. Once in the system, click on the "Register Now" text in red. When taken to the next page, click on "Withdraw" on the left hand side of the screen. You will need your confirmation number from your original registration to withdraw. Because your credit card will not be charged prior to the entry deadline, no refund needs to be made. If you cannot locate your confirmation number, contact email@example.com.
Tournament Withdrawals After Entry Deadline: Immediately email Sally Grabham at BoilerSal@cox.net if you must withdraw from the tournament. Bona fide reasons for a withdrawal are illness, injury, or personal circumstances.
Withdrawals After Draw Is Made: After the Draw is made on December 20th, contact Sally Grabham at 480-639-6705 and send written verification via email to BoilerSal@cox.net.
All withdrawals for any reason without the proper written notification are actually defaults and Code of Conduct Report will be completed for each defaulting player who fails to submit written verification/medical verification to the Tournament Director by the last day of tournament.
The required written verification of an injury or illness must be from a medical professional can be faxed to (888) 463-8841 or a .pdf can be emailed to BoilerSal@cox.net.
Players that suffer from an illness or injury during the tournament may obtain written verification from one of our certified athletic trainers, but it is the player’s responsibility to obtain this written verification and deliver it to the Tournament Director at the time of withdrawal.
All withdrawals for any reason without the proper written notification are actually defaults and a Code of Conduct Report will be completed for each defaulting player who fails to submit written verification/medical verification to the Tournament Director by the last day of tournament.
If the player is withdrawing because of a personal emergency, the player must deliver a written explanation of the situation and the Referee will determine whether the situation is a personal emergency.
USTA SUSPENSION POINTS: Any withdrawal that does not meet the written verification requirements by the last scheduled day of the tournament, will also result in the player being levied suspension points and any match that is not played will be coded as a Default.
NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.
